Students will listen to a short educational PowerPoint made by me

Students will practice their skills of writing short prompts.
Students will practice their skills of adding short numbers together.
Students will practice their fine motor skills by coloring the inside of the line.

Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)

They will be able to listen to me present a PowerPoint to them then they will write a prompt
cut out some stuff then use math to color in a picture where they will independently cut out.

Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)

They will be able to listen to me explain St. Patrick's Day using a PowerPoint I made.
Then I will give them a writing prompt based on their gratefulness.
After that I will give them an activity where they can color and cut out leaves and write down
the prompt, I gave them.
Then, they will do a coloring activity where they will color things based off the number of the
answers on the paper. Finally, they will turn it in and get a participation grade.
CCSS Rationale (Describe the specific Common Core State Standards addressed during the teaching
of this lesson plan.)

Students follow agreed-upon rules, build on others’ talk in conversation by linking their comments to
others, and ask for clarification and further explanation as needed.
They will write short prompts based off the prompt they are given.
They will add numbers in the tens.

Instructional Procedures

 Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)

Mrs. Philpott after her warmup, she will tell the class that “Mr. Miller” is going to teach
a lesson plan. Then I will start.

 Instructional Strategies (Click into that link for help describing all instructional methods you will
employ during the lesson. Remember, instructional strategies fall into one or more of the
following broad categories: DIRECT, INDIRECT, EXPERIENTIAL, INTERACTIVE,
INDEPENDENT STUDY)

Direct Instruction: I will make a powerpoint to show them, then I will project
instructions.
Independent study: They will work on writing prompts by themselves, then they will
color and cut things out.

 Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)

I will have a couple of different activities lined up for them, so they stay on task.

 Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?
I will check on their progress throughout the activities and I will walk around to keep
them in check.

 Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)

I will have them turn in their completed work.

 Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)

I will have them turn in their completed work and then they will be graded
based off their completion.
