Overview of Project Quality Management
The process of overseeing and ensuring that a project meets the set quality standards
and requirements is called Project Quality Management. PQM ensures the project has the best
quality outcome. It requires a set of methods and strategies to evaluate the quality of project
workflows, tasks, personnel, and deliverables. To ensure the best quality for customers and
clients, it’s important to ensure the project team is memorable. Not only does project quality
management focus on the deliverables for clients and customers, but it can also help reduce
costs, increase productivity, encourage department collaboration, and focus on improving
customer satisfaction. Project managers should focus on key attributes that make their team
stand apart, helping them build their clientele and rapport with clients.

There are various ways to implement PQM to ensure the project deliverables meet the
defined quality criteria. When organizations implement effective quality management, it leads to
a better project outcome with increased customer satisfaction. Quality is important in project
management since it ensures projects meet the set standards and requirements. Delivering
high-quality results consistently builds credibility and trust with stakeholders, enhancing the
project team's reputation and increasing the likelihood of future success. It requires careful
planning, directing, and ensuring all project deliverables and processes fulfill stakeholder
expectations. A team charter is needed to establish clear goals, roles, and expectations for
team members while fostering a sense of accountability and collaboration. Combining an
established team charter with effective PQM practices results in teams managing resources,
and preparing for risks all while delivering high-quality results during said time frame.

When we focus on quality throughout the project lifecycle, it leads to achieving project
success. Without proper quality management, projects risk failure due to insufficient attention to
detail, ineffective communication, inadequate resources, and misalignment with project
objectives. When it comes to risks, it is important to avoid ruling all out, without proper
examination. Management has an important role in developing PQM practices in an
organization by defining and communicating quality standards, fostering a culture of continuous
improvement through clear goals and sufficient resources, integrating quality into all project
phases, and emphasizing quality's importance while holding team members accountable. There
are various strategies to effectively manage project quality. Implementing a quality management
plan with regular checks and reviews helps to spot and address issues early on. Consistently
promoting open communication and collaboration within the team encourages continuous
improvement and high-quality outcomes.
Six Key Attributes of Project Quality Management

There are six key attributes for clients to know about the quality management process.
These six key attributes are quality planning, quality assurance, quality control, prevention,
stakeholder satisfaction, and skills. The first key attribute is quality planning. A good plan will
identify the scope, requirements, and guidelines for the project. A good project plan should also
identify the project goal, as well as identify tasks that should be delegated to the team and
stakeholders. The second key attribute is quality assurance. A project manager can provide
quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle by evaluating whether or not the project is
moving towards delivering quality services. The third key attribute is quality control. Quality
control can be maintained by using operational techniques to guarantee quality standards. In
order to practice successful quality control when quality issues or execution problems arise,
corrective actions should be implemented. The focus should be on prevention, which is the
fourth key attribute. This prevention attribute requires managers to be proactive by using quality
management tools and strategies to identify and work through any issues before they get out of
control. Proactive project managers who are focused on prevention help ensure that the project
stays on track to meet its goals. The fifth key attribute is stakeholder satisfaction. Stakeholder
satisfaction should be prioritized by ensuring that stakeholders remain happy and that all
stakeholder needs are fulfilled. Stakeholders should agree with the project process and the
deliverables produced. By engaging with stakeholders, the manager can make sure that the
project's results will satisfy everyone involved. Lastly, the sixth key attribute is organizational
skills. Organizational skills are skills every project manager should have. These are skills that
will keep track of the workflow, resources, deliverables, and project timelines are essential in
making sure each part of the project is accounted for.
