LOCATION
With an approximate area of 79,000 km and population of 10.5 million, the Czech Republic ranks among the mid-sized countries of Europe. The state comprises three historically independent regions: Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia. Thanks to its central position, Bohemia is an important European intersection, and it is the destination for many foreign investors. Since 1999, the Czech Republic has been a member of NATO and, in 2004, it became an EU Member State. The main basis of the Czech economy is industry, with the highest share of GDP among all the EU Member States. The university city of Hradec Krlov is located in northeast Bohemia in a region that is much sought-after by tourists, and is particularly known for the Giant Mountains National Park. The region is also characterised by its highly developed industry and agriculture. It is the largest city in the region, and has the second lowest unemployment rate in the Czech Republic.
Hradec Krlov
most important cities in the Czech Republic, and it still maintains its important role today, which is only partly due to its size. It is not by accident that Hradec Krlov is sometimes called Gors Hradec after the genius of Czech architecture who drafted the municipal master of which are a great source fo local pride. Koruna is located in a prosperous though undeveloped area within an expanding city center. Its position, at the end of Gorova Street, is highlighted by its rather distinctively sharp corner, which towers over the surrounding basis by thousands of commuters and shoppers, who travel to and from the nearby bus and train stations. A new city center will be created here with Aupark at the heart of it.

CONCEPT
When one of the oldest public parks in Central Europe was established in Bratislava more than 200 years ago, nobody expected that its name, Aupark, which is derived from the name of the Danube floodplain forest, would become the synonym, the inspiration, and the brand for a network of successful shopping and entertainment centers and leading commercial galleries. Centers that draw inspiration from the global trend of restoring life to the heart of cities. Centers that endeavour, through the harmonious and balanced combination of shopping and leisure space, to return our cities to the busy and bustling social hubs of yesteryear.
Aupark places an emphasis on the creation of a pleasant and inspiring environment with a natural and simple design. The interior is based on the modern principles of bygone shopping arcades, which were characterised by large, open, central spaces, that were the center focus of indoor social activity. The natural look of the shopping galleries, a result of the natural materials exploited creatively by the designers, highlights both the commercial and recreational opportunities that are available. Aupark offers a pleasant and attractive environment for leisure, as well as working meetings; indeed there are plenty of enticing cafes and restaurants to spend undisturbed moments over a cup of coffee or lunch. Excellent creche facilities are also available for parents with young children.
The variety and exceptional combination of brands and services, but especially the high standard and carefully planned thematic localisation in the city center, give a new dimension to the shopping experience. Thanks to this combination, in addition to excellent
accessibility by transport and direct connection to city center pedestrian zones, a new and unique place is created with each new Aupark. Its architectonic design, working with genius loci, becomes a distinctive, dominant, and city-forming element.
Aupark reflects and sets the standard for city centre designs, and has become an integral part of social life in a number of cities. It demonstrates how a successful local model can develop into a renowned, quality international brand.

Wherever implemented, Aupark projects are acknowledged as exceptional, and aim to provide an impressive entrance to the city center, and at building a landmark of which each city will be proud. However, in the wake of forceful personalities such as the architects Gor, Lika, Fouk, and Reichl, is it actually possible to create a modern building in Hradec Krlov that will continue their work, and become a dignified symbol of the new era of city architectural development? Aupark will be the symbolic realisation of Gors idea of an urban Hradec Krlov. A modern, timeless, prominent architecture with internal city life, will be created on an major radial road, which begins in the historical part of the city, and is currently being transformed into a city boulevard. Accessibility
The great advantage of Aupark in Hradec Krlov is the direct connection to the city center, excellent pedestrian access, and the close proximity of the train and bus stations, as well as the public mass transport terminal. Those coming by car will be pleasantly surprised by the excellent parking facilities that connect directly to the centers arcades on two floors.

The centers architecture imaginatively and harmoniously reflects its natural, urban and industrial environments, motifs of which are visible in the buildings exterior design. This apparently contrasts with a calmer, yet bright and spacious interior, with the focal point a levitating two-storey, organically-shaped cafe. The philosophy behind the materials selected is based upon the principle of contrast between the interior and exterior. Whereas the exterior mirrors its
surroundings, utilising glass lining, digital printing and cutting-edge industrial design, the interior has been created from the most refined natural materials. This is exemplified by the plentiful, beautifully designed furniture, where weary shoppers can relax in comfort. The material which most symbolises modern architecture is glass, and its versatlity has been put to good effect in the building. In this way, through its transparency, Aupark will welcome in Gorova street society, and indeed, the entire history of Hradec Krlov.
