Title: Roll the Gratitude Dice: Fostering Appreciation and Connection


Introduction:
Gratitude is a powerful emotion that has been linked to numerous psychological
benefits, including increased happiness, improved relationships, and enhanced well-being.
Research by psychologists such as Robert Emmons and Martin Seligman has demonstrated
the profound impact of practicing gratitude on mental health and overall life satisfaction.
According to Emmons and Seligman's research, gratitude involves recognizing and
appreciating the positive aspects of life, even in the face of challenges or adversity. It shifts
our focus from what we lack to what we have, fostering a sense of abundance and
contentment. Gratitude also promotes social connections and prosocial behavior by
strengthening relationships and encouraging acts of kindness towards others.

Activity Description:
"Roll the Gratitude Dice" is a class activity designed to cultivate gratitude and
promote interpersonal connection among participants. Each participant will have the
opportunity to roll two dice, and their score will correspond to a specific question or
instruction on the gratitude sheet provided.

Instructions:
1. Ask everyone to sit in a circle ensure that gratitude sheet and 2 dice are accessible
to all.
2. Participants will take turns rolling the dice, and the number rolled will determine
the question or instruction they must follow.
3. Give examples of questions or instructions from the gratitude sheet, such as:
- Roll a 2: Name one thing you're grateful for in your life right now.
- Roll a 5: Express gratitude to the person sitting on your left.
- Roll a 10: Share a memorable experience that made you feel grateful.
4. Encourage participants to engage with each question or instruction thoughtfully and
authentically.
5. Facilitate discussion within the groups, allowing participants to share their
responses and reflections.
6. Rotate turns until each participant has had an opportunity to roll the dice and
participate.
Purpose of the Activity:
The primary goal of "Roll the Gratitude Dice" is to cultivate gratitude and foster a
sense of connection and appreciation among participants. By engaging in reflective exercises
and sharing experiences of gratitude, participants will gain insight into the positive aspects of
their lives and strengthen their social bonds with others.

Conducting the Activity:


During the activity, the facilitator will guide the participants through the process of
rolling the dice and responding to the corresponding questions or instructions. They will
encourage active participation, listening, and respectful sharing within the groups.

Debrief:
After completing the activity, the facilitator will lead a brief debriefing session to
reflect on the experience. Participants will have the opportunity to share their thoughts,
feelings, and insights gained from engaging in the activity. The facilitator may also provide
additional information on the benefits of practicing gratitude and offer suggestions for
