Location History

Date State Notice

April Texas The big state of Texas is home to problems with cars that won’t start. Texas is high on Google
21, Trend’s list of the states with the most car problems. Chiming in at number 4, the state boasts of
2020 issues with dead batteries, flat tires, and a lot of windshield repairs. Unfortunately, this state also
has a lot of car accidents which damage the cars.

Tennessee boasts of a healthy population of 28,995,881 residents. Drivers average 288,227 million
miles per year. However, that huge figure also equates to many car crashes and deaths annually.
There are roughly 3,294 fatal car accidents (more than any other state), with 3,615 deaths each
year. Fifty-eight percent of Texas roads and highways are heavily congested, causing traffic
accidents, wasted gas, and delays. However, it’s not all bad news. Texas maintains its rural roads,
public highways, and bridges quite well, which is why the state grabs the 23rd spot for highway
performance and cost-effectiveness. The stormy weather in Texas is the cause of more than
212,000 hail-damaged cars per year. Texas also ranks number one for the state with the highest
number of flood-damaged vehicles per year (51,000). All of these negative factors is probably why
Texas considers a total loss car one that suffers damage equal to 100% of its fair market value.

Being in the southern part of the country, Texas does not get snow and, therefore, no rust from salt
on the roads. However, Texas is hot and dry, and wildfires abound. In 2020, more than 269,000
acres were burned from wildfires. The most common reason for them is debris burning, power lines,
and smoking. In addition, Texas has the highest number of tornados and hailstorms, with more than
600,000 claims for hail-damaged cars per year. Texas is also a flood state, and cars also get
damaged by water.

ADMINISTRATION

Manufacturer Information

Ford
UNITED STATES
Ford Plant

Founded in 1903, Ford is one of the oldest automobile manufacturers in the United States. Part of the "Big Three", Ford
is the second-largest automaker in the US behind General Motors. Most famous for their introduction of advanced vehicle
manufacturing, like the moving assembly line, Ford is credited with creating the first automobile that middle-class
Americans could afford; this brought cars to the mainstream and helped shape the way we travel today.

Ford's first automobile was the Model A, a two-seater-runabout. The Model A originally sold for $800, the equivalent of
over $22,000 in current value. Today, Ford makes various cars, trucks, SUVs, performance cars, and electric vehicles.
Some of its more well-known models include the Mustang, Maverick, Ranger, F-150, Bronco, and F-150 Lightning. While
Ford has been the highest-selling manufacturer many times in its nearly 120 years as a company, its highest selling year
in the 21st century was in 2005, when it sold 2,923,292 vehicles.

Ford has recently announced its plans to restructure its business to cater to the EV market, with the intention of
producing more than 2 million electric vehicles annually by 2026. The sales of their all-electric vehicle, the Mustang Mach
E crossover, reached 64,000 in 2021. Ford also said they intend to separate their electric and internal combustion engine
vehicles into two separate business units, increasing the production capacity of their EV manufacturing and positioning
themselves to compete with companies like Tesla.

Consumer Access Product Disclaimer

The National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) is an electronic system that contains information on
certain automobiles titled in the United States. NMVTIS is intended to serve as a reliable source of title and brand history
for automobiles, but it does not contain detailed information regarding a vehicle’s repair history.

All states, insurance companies, and junk and salvage yards are required by federal law to regularly report information to
NMVTIS. However, NMVTIS does not contain information on all motor vehicles in the United States because some states
are not yet providing their vehicle data to the system. Currently, the data provided to NMVTIS by states is provided in a
variety of time frames; while some states report and update NMVTIS data in “real-time” (as title transactions occur), other
states send updates less frequently, such as once every 24 hours or within a period of days.

Information on previous, significant vehicle damage may not be included in the system if the vehicle was never
determined by an insurance company (or other appropriate entity) to be a “total loss” or branded by a state titling agency.
Conversely, an insurance carrier may be required to report a “total loss” even if the vehicle’s titling-state has not
determined the vehicle to be “salvage” or “junk.”

A vehicle history report is NOT a substitute for an independent vehicle inspection. Before making a decision to purchase
a vehicle, consumers are strongly encouraged to also obtain an independent vehicle inspection to ensure the
vehicle does not have hidden damage. The Approved NMVTIS Data Providers (look for the NMVTIS logo) can include
vehicle condition data from sources other than NMVTIS.

NMVTIS data INCLUDES (as available by those entities required to report to the System):

Information from participating state motor vehicle titling agencies.

Information on automobiles, buses, trucks, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, motor homes, and truck tractors.
NMVTIS may not currently include commercial vehicles if those vehicles are not included in a state’s primary
database for title records (in some states, those vehicles are managed by a separate state agency), although these
records may be added at a later time.
Information on “brands” applied to vehicles provided by participating state motor vehicle titling agencies. Brand
types and definitions vary by state, but may provide useful information about the condition or prior use of the
vehicle.
Most recent odometer reading in the state’s title record.
Information from insurance companies, and auto recyclers, including junk and salvage yards, that is required by
