COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course deals all the essential ideas, concepts and principles in method of research and the skills needed in thesis writing. This course deals with the
discussion and analysis of basic concepts, theories and principles in research methods as well as the application of research concepts, theory and principles in the
presentation of a research proposal. The first part deals with the concepts, principles of research, research problems, related literature and studies, different
research methods and approaches, sampling, collection of data, research techniques and tools and statistical treatment applied in research. The final output of the
course deals on the preparation and oral presentation of the research titles as well as the submission of the proposed paper highlighting the background of the
study, research design, sampling procedures, setting of the study and data analysis procedures.

 Raise awareness of the importance of graduate education in meeting the economic and the social needs of the country.

GOALS OF THE GRADUATE SCHOOL


 Offers relevant graduate education programs responsive to local and global development changes;
 Contribute to the advancement of human knowledge through the conduct of academic research studies;
 Promote outreach and public service activities that will improve the quality of life of people in the service area in collaboration with the MC Social
Work Department;
 Strengthen graduate degree programs through accreditation and linkages with other local/international institutions and other organizations
OBJECTIVES OF THE GRADUATE SCHOOL
To ensure definite progress and directed education, the Graduate School Department shall have the following objectives:
1. Pursue the quest for quality and excellence in Graduate Education through production, dissemination, and utilization of functional researches;
2. Promote professional growth and development of graduate faculty competence by enhancing their research capabilities.
3. Establish strategic linkages with other institutions for support such as sponsorship and scholarship.
4. Review the curriculum and determine its relevance to the trends of the time; and
5. Create more active and responsive graduate students for national development by extending literacy to under privileged children
OBJECTIVES OF THE MASTER OF ARTS IN EDUCATION (MAED) PROGRAM
 Update and enrich teachers’ content knowledge in a specific area or professional subject;
 Enhance and expand teachers’ theoretical and technical knowledge for teaching a specific subject area or professional area; and
 Develop the teachers’ research capabilities for replicating, verifying, validating, contextualizing and or applying theoretical and practical knowledge
about the different aspects of the educational process (CMO No. 53, series of 2007).

CLASSROOM POLICIES
1. Only regular students who are officially enrolled have permission to attend the class.
2. Regularity and punctuality in attending class is expected of each graduate student.
3. A graduate student shall be marked tardy if he/she arrives in the class 15 minutes after the start of the scheduled time.
4. A graduate student shall be marked absent from the class if he/she arrives 20 minutes after the scheduled time.
5. Unless the course professor concerned gave notice, graduate students may leave the classroom if the professor fails to come 15 minutes after the start of
the scheduled time for the class.
6. Should a graduate student obtain a grade of INCOMPLETE and failed to complete his/her requirements within the school year, his/her grade shall be
changed to a grade of 5.0 or FAILED.
