SEMI DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SURVEY OF THE AFRO-ASIAN LITERATURE

I. OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT STANDARD The learner demonstrates understanding of Hindu
literature, particularly in identifying its
outstanding characteristics and comparing them
with Chinese literature.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD The learner is able to analyze the forms of Hindu
prose and poetry, comparing and contrasting them
with Chinese literary forms.
C. LEARNING At the end of the unit, the students must have:

B. MOTIVATION Activity 1. Finding Minions

Gru and the Minions were going to the beach to


enjoy their vacation but got separated along the
way. To help the Minions and Gru reunite, we
must reach the finish line by rolling the dice so
that the Minions will move. Be careful of
obstacles that may come our way!!!

D. LESSON PROPER
a. Activity Activity 2. Minion Learning

Now that Gru and the minions are reunited and are
heading to the beach, a new problem arises. They
are hungry, and we must feed them.
In this activity, the class will be divided into four
groups, and they will be given a task to buy food
for Gru and the minions. The letters contain details
about Hindi Literature, and they must create a
presentation (poem, newscasting, acting, singing)
to complete this task.
b. Analysis Students will paste their answers on the board and
explain it. The teacher will check their answers
and give concrete explanation about the topic.

1. Mahabharata
An ancient Indian epic attributed to Vyasa, the
Mahabharata recounts the Kurukshetra War
between two groups of cousins, the Kauravas and
the Pandavas, over the throne of Hastinapur. It
contains philosophical teachings and moral
dilemmas, with Ganesha traditionally depicted as
its scribe.

2. Panchatantra
Compiled by Vishnu Sharma in the 3rd century
BCE, the Panchatantra is a collection of fables
aimed at teaching moral lessons through animal
characters. It covers themes like governance,
diplomacy, and morality.

3. Panchatantra Stories
These stories, part of the Panchatantra collection,
feature animals in various adventures, imparting
wisdom on friendship, strategy, and betrayal.
Popular tales include "The Lion and the Hare" and
"The Brahmin and the Mongoose."

4. Bhagavad Gita
A Hindu scripture within the Mahabharata, the
Bhagavad Gita is a dialogue between Prince
Arjuna and Lord Krishna on duty, righteousness,
and the nature of reality. It explores paths of
devotion, knowledge, and selfless action, offering
profound spiritual insights.

After a long day at the beach, the minions are now


ready to go home. But before they leave, we need
to help them organize their belongings. Let’s assist
them.

In this activity, the students will create an


annotated reading list of selected Chinese and
Hindu literature by matching the stories with their
respective authors or books.

1. Journey to the West" by Wu Cheng'en (Chinese


Literature)

Follows Buddhist monk Xuanzang and the


Monkey King on a journey for sacred scriptures,
blending mythology and moral lessons.

2. The Ramayana" by Valmiki (Hindu Literature)

Chronicles Prince Rama's quest to rescue his wife


Sita from the demon king Ravana, exploring
themes of duty and righteousness.
