2. AIRCRAFT CONFIGURATION
AND OPTIONS
LEGACY 650
The figure below shows the CMS layout with standard and optional
equipment on the Legacy 650 aircraft.
DESCRIPTION
PCUs come in two versions: Select 100 and Select 200. The Select
100 is just a smaller version of the Select 200.
Either of the Select 100 or the Select 200 PCUs can control the
entire Ovation Select system through the use of their touchscreens.
The touch-sensitive screens let the user display and activate various
control options for the associated equipment by touching the screen.
NOTE: Each PCU is configured with the applicable control
functions/screens based on its location in the aircraft.
OPERATION
The Select 100 PCU has a 4 in. by 1 in. display area. The Select 200
PCU has a 4 in. by 2 in. display area.
Representative touchscreen control functions for the Select 100/200
PCUs are shown below. Not all controls/screens are shown.
Different PCUs on the aircraft have access to different screens
based on their location in the aircraft.
After the PCU´s are turned on, a welcome screen appears as shown
below:
Slider Buttons
Slider buttons show on the main screens of the PCUs. Slider buttons
have a graphic on them that represent their main function. The area
below the slider button contains a label for the slider button. Tap the
slider button once to access its function. The size and color of the
slider button changes.
Depending on the function for the slider icon, a sub menu of buttons
may show or control of a function is accessed.
Additional slider buttons may be hidden off the screen area. To
access the hidden slider buttons, touch the screen with your finger
and slide it left or right to pan the slider buttons left or right to show
the hidden slider buttons.
Note: The slider menu timeouts after 10 seconds and re-centers to
its original position.
Control Buttons
Control buttons look similar to the Slider buttons but are fixed on the
screen and cannot be slid with your finger. Control buttons normally
control a function. An example would be to turn a light on or off.
Control buttons appear on screens which are accessible through the
slider buttons on the home screen.
Examples of typical control buttons are shown below:
Zooms in on a map.
Audio control buttons are used to select and control the audio
sources.
Video control buttons are used to select and control the video
sources.
Level Bars
Level Bars let you increase or decrease the level of a function or
show the progress of a function. An example would be the sound
volume.
Level Controls:
Level Indicator
Progress bar (Load Media
45% function).
When the audio level bar is slid all of the way to the left for a headset
(My Audio), the sound in the headset is set to a minimum level and
will still be heard.
Pull Up Tab
After the complete tab is shown, press the inverted triangle at the top
of the pull up tab to close the tab.
Rosette Controls
Different rosette controls are available for selected controls. Rosette
controls can show on the main screen or on the pull up tab.
Skips back.
Skips forward.
Select the Media Manager button from the Main Menu to show the
Media Manager page as shown below.
The media manager has three storage areas: One storage ares is
shared and two storage areas are private. The shared storage area
is accessible to all users through any PCU on the aircraft. The
private storage areas are accessaible only to the FWD VIP PCU
(ID504) and the Divan PCU (ID510). Each of these two PCU’s has
access to its own private storage area which cannot be accessed by
any other PCU on the aircraft.
To load media to the Private media area on the MIU, do the
following steps:
1. Insert the USB drive into the remote USB located on the Aux
1 or Aux 2 Panel from the correct PCU. Make sure the USB
Connected light turns from red to green.
Note: Graphics may change slightly from aircraft to aircraft.

Lines 1-8 – Use the Configuration Controls to scroll up or down the
list and press RIGHT or LEFT on lines 1-8 to select from among the
56 different flight data elements. The font size for all three
information pages will be the same. Fewer lines selected will result in
larger font sizes.
Line 9: Same as Info Page 1 – Changes all values on Info Page 2
to instantly change to what has already been set for Info Page 1.
This is useful for only displaying what would appear to be only two
information pages. Keep in mind that the display timing for page 1
and 2 would be additive in this case and it may be desirable to adjust
the timing.
Line 10: Same as Info Page 3 – Refer to the paragraph above. The
same is true but Info Page 2 becomes the same as Info Page 3 and
the display time for the two identical pages are the sum of the two.
FMS – This heading information displays the FMS that has been
selected on the System Settings 2 Configuration Page. Special
calculations are done on each of the ARINC flight data words
according to FMS. This setting must be correct or the data elements
will not display properly.
Available – This column will display the known status of a particular
data element for a particular FMS. For example, N/A means that this
data element requires aircraft data that is either not transmitted by
this FMS or is not reliable to use for displaying data on the JetMap
HD.

Press the UP or DOWN button to scroll up or down through the list of
menu options. When the desired option is highlighted, press the
LEFT or RIGHT button to change the value or setting of the named
parameter or feature.
When finished, scroll to Selection at the bottom of the page and
press ENTER. This will take you back to the previous screen. Back

Use the LEFT/RIGHT Configuration Control to scroll through the
possible settings on this page. When the desired setting is shown,
scroll down to the next item.
Connection Enable – This setting allows the user to select the
hardware source for satellite connection to the Internet. Content files
from the Internet connection provide the information to display;
News, Weather, Sports, Business, tickers and News reader panels.
The selection of the connection medium should consider the
available equipment on the aircraft. Selecting a connection medium
which is not installed on the aircraft will prevent content from being
downloaded. Content download can be disabled by selecting the
Fetch Disabled option in the sub menu.
Content related buttons include News, Wx, Sports, Biz, or Reader.
The selection of the type of content to be downloaded can be
customized (see Configuration menu in Content Configuration
submenu in System Setting 2). Content downloads are automatically
periodically refreshed. Download progress is displayed in any of the
content views and the news reader screen. (See Content Mode
Section for description of progress bar messages that may be
presented and a screenshot of a content download screen)
Selecting this setting enables the Content to be turned on for use
with the many sources available to the JetMap HD.
The Connection Enable submenu has the 6 options that follow:
1. Ethernet – Selecting this setting enables JetMap HD to use
a High Speed Data SATCOM Ethernet connection, if
available on the aircraft. This allows JetMap HD to access
the Content ground station through the Internet. Refer to the
Media Interface Unit (MIU) Installation Manual PN 762-5164-
001 for details.
2. ICG – Utilizes an external Iridium based International
Communications Group (ICG) voice/data unit over the
JetMap HD RS232 port.
3. Aircell – Utilizes an external Iridium based Aircell unit such
as the Aircell Axxess II.
4. AirSat II – Utilizes an external Iridium based Airsat II unit.

15. AV BRIEFER
DESCRIPTION
The Audio Visual Briefer (AV Briefer) Controller, HPN 990-5750-xxx,
is one component of the Honeywell Ovation Select environment. It is
a hard-mount accessory designed to manage the operation of the
audio/video (A/V) briefing functionality embedded in the Honeywell
MIU moving map system.
Operation of the AV Briefer Controller is primarily governed by
cockpit personnel via the user interface. Additionally, the cockpit
personal can update the time to destination and destination for
display on the moving map if FMS Aeronautical Radio Incorporated
(ARINC) 429 labels are not available for these data items.
AV BRIEFER CONTROLLER POWER
The A/V Briefer Controller (see Figure 15-1) is hardwired into the
aircraft power system and has no independent on/off switch. It is
automatically turned on whenever the aircraft electrical system is
turned on, and it is automatically turned off whenever the aircraft
electrical system is turned off.
Dimming of the display is controlled by a variable voltage input
provided by the aircraft on one of several available input pins on the
AV Briefer Controller. The AV Briefer Controller is programmed to
respond to this variable voltage according to a configurable scaling.
Under normal circumstances, the user has no need to manually shut
down the AV Briefer Controller separate from the electrical system;
but should that need arise, the unit can be shut down by pulling the
appropriate circuit breaker. Manually shutting down the AV Briefer
Controller in this manner should only be accomplished by a crew
member.
Note: Graphics may change slightly from aircraft to aircraft.

Ovation Select Cabin Management System Operating Instructions
If you push the selection knob within ten seconds, the ICAO
destination is sent to the MIU and the Destination Menu shows the
ICAO. The MIU draws a route line on the maps to the new
destination.
If there is no FMS route received by the MIU then the route will be a
straight line from aircraft to the ICAO entered. If there is a route
already being displayed then the new route will add a route segment
from the destination coming from the FMS to the destination entered
on the AV Briefer.
The city name associated with the ICAO identifier will be displayed
on the information page if "Destination City (AV Briefer)" has been
configured for display.
Setting the Destination ICAO has no effect on the "Destination City"
Info Item because that ONLY comes from the FMS. The ICAO
entered on the AV Briefer will be shown if "Destination Airport ICAO"
