The number of hepatitis C cases had decreased in 2019 as the reporting system was changed and laboratories
were not yet reporting. From 2020 onwards, the number increased exponentially. This is due to the introduction
of mandatory reporting of hepatitis C by laboratories and the fact that the database has been reset. The number
of cases for 2021 for hepatitis C may still change slightly, given that reporting to ECDC (European Centre for
Disease Prevention and Control) is only done in September and the list will likely be adjusted (duplicates, etc.).
