REFLECTION

In my previous Classroom Observation and Daily Learning Log it

is suggested by my superiors to add more activities to enhance
learners’ learning experience and include the different teaching
strategies, principles and philosophies that are applicable in my
different activities.

I believe that students’ prior knowledge can help learning.

Students come into our courses with knowledge, beliefs and
attitudes gained in other courses and through daily life. As
students bring this knowledge to bear in our classrooms, it
influences how they filter and interpret what they are learning.
That is why I tried y best to add learning activities and annotate in
the different activities the teaching philosophies and principles
that best suit my learners in my Daily Learning Log and I will also
adapt this feed-backs, comments and suggestions for my future
reference.

REFLECTION

In my 5 years of teaching, I have observed and proven that

learners should be taught to communicate clearly, how to send
clear concise messages and how to receive and correctly
understand messages sent. That is why precise and clear
communication should take place in three (3) ways – verbal
nonverbal, and para verbal.

Verbal component refers to the content of our message, the choice

and arrangement of our words. This can be oral or written.
Nonverbal component refers to the message we send through our
body languages while para verbal component refers to how we
say what we say – the tone, pacing and volume of our voices.

I am still practicing the art of communication and careful delivery

for better understanding. It is also very useful for us teachers to
make use of different materials (e.g. whistle) to help you
communicate to the students.

REFLECTION

It is indeed essential that the learners should be taught how to

learn. They are taught learning processes and skill such as
searching, critiquing and evaluating information, relating these
pieces of information, reflecting on the same, making meaning out
of them, drawing insights, posing questions, researching and
constructing new knowledge out of these bits of information
learned.

As a teacher, we should be an instrument on the students’

learning process and skills. To help students we teachers should
be the one to guide students to develop mastery, acquire
component skills, practice integrating them, and know when to
apply what they have learned. Students must develop not only the
component skills and knowledge necessary to perform complex
tasks, they must also practice combining and integrating them to
develop greater fluency.

REFLECTION

In my experience, it is evident how students organize knowledge

influences how they learn and apply what they know. Students
naturally make connections between pieces of knowledge. When
those connections form knowledge structures that are accurately
and meaningfully organized, students are better able to retrieve
and apply their knowledge effectively and efficiently.

Progresivism is a program that “responds to students” needs and

that relates to students’ personal lives and experiences.” As a
teacher, we accept the impermanence of life and inevitability of
change. For me, everything else changes. Change is the only thing
that does not change. Hence, we teachers are more concerned
with teaching facts or bits of information that are true today but
become obsolete tomorrow, we would rather focus their teaching
on the teaching of skills or processes in gathering and evaluating
information and in problem – solving. Teachers expose students
to many new scientific, technological, and social development,
reflecting the option that progress and change are fundamental.
And students learnby doing.

ANNOTATION

Teachers teach not to radically reshape society but rather to

transmit the traditional moral values and intellectual knowledge
that students need to become model citizen.

During the conduct of the 2023 DIVISION FESTIVAL OF TALENT

- SINING TANGHALAN with the theme “REINFORCING 21ST
CENTURY LEARNING AND FOSTERING CREATIVE INDUSTRIES
THROUGH TALENTS AND SKILLS EXHIBITION”, in which I am
the coach of one of the student contestant in one of the contested
activities, Likhawitan. We garnered 3rd place in the contest and I
become part of the learning and development the student. This
also helped my teaching and learning practice. It also took a great
part on collaborating with other teachers.

As a teacher, we are concerned with the modification and shaping

of students’ behavior by providing for a favorable environment,
since they believe that they are a product of their environment.
They are after students’ who exhibit desirable behavior in society.
And I believe that teachers change the world one child at a time.

ANNOTATION

As the school year 2022-2023 of Aritao National High School

draws to an end, I’ve been reflecting on the role of coaches and
their influence - both in sports, and as a teacher.

Learning-by-doing beats theoretical teaching every day. I have

realized that coaching requires self-organization and discipline. It
molds an individuals’ decision making based on the context they
find in themselves. Although I know the the payoff isn’t
immediate, it is obvious that coaching will result in high
performance.

Coaching becomes part of my professional development as a

teacher. I also believe that it improves my teaching performance.
Coaching also promotes and encourages teachers to share ideas,
learn from each other and work together to improve students’
outcomes. Ultimately, coaching does not just benefit individual
teachers; it positively impacts the wider school community.
