160g epsom salts
320g raw sugar
50g fresh ground coffee (not instant)
320g sweet almond oil
6.5mL vanilla oleoresin
8 drops sweet orange essential oil
8 drops ylang ylang essential oil
5g vitamin E (anti-oxidant)

how to

prep time: 10 minutes

cooking requirement: no
makes: approx. 1kg (4 x 250g jars)

step 1 Add dry ingredients to a bowl, one at a time and stir thoroughly before adding the next ingredient.
step 2 Next add the oil and mix through well
step 3 Finally add the essential oils and stir well. Spoon into jars.

application

Best applied to damp skin. Start by jumping under the shower , wet yourself all over. If you are washing your hair, do this now and leave in a conditioning treatment while you
apply the Body Glow. Turn the water off and take a generous amount of Body Glow. Start applying the product at your feet, work your way up your legs with small circular
movements working towards the heart, then start at the hand and work up the arms. Followed by the abdomen, waist, hips and back. Once you’ve applied it to the entire body,
go back over and massage 2-3 more times. Rinse off with warm water. It will leave a light oily layer on your skin that feels heavenly. [It is optional to use a shower gel to remove
the oil if you’d prefer.] NB: after rinsing, the excess oil may leave a slippery surface in your shower, take care not to slip.

tips on making lip balms

tip 1 There are many ways to make a balm and experimentation with
these key ingredients will enable you to find a balanced recipe that is just
right for you. For a thicker more solid balm reduce the amount of oil and
increase the hard waxes and butters.
tip 2 Balms can also be used instead of massage oil, for foot treatments or
anywhere on the body that a moisture intensive product is required.

ingredients

30g castor oil
20g jojoba oil
20g soya bean oil
18g beeswax natural
10g carnauba wax
2g cocoa butter – certified organic
1g vitamin E
1mL orange sweet essential oil
12 drops natural orange dye (will colour the balm & give a temporary lip stain)

how to

prep time: 10-15 minutes

cooking requirement: yes
makes: approximately 20 x 4.5ml tubes

step 1 Using a beaker in a hot water bath, gently heat the waxes and butter until fully melted
step 2 Next add the oils. Heat to 75°C
step 3 Remove from heat and allow to cool to 50°C, then add vitamin E
step 4 Add essential oil and mix well
step 5 Add dye and mix well
step 6 Pour into lip balm tubes (see tips below) and allow cooling before closing lid

recipe tips

 Once your batch starts to cool, it will solidify quickly due to the high melting point. So, when pouring you’ll need to work fast. Keep a hot water bath on hand to re-
melt if your balm starts to set before you have finished pouring.
 Slightly over-fill your lip balm tubes to create a domed top. A once it begins to cool, the centre will contract a little.

 When cleaning up, you may find that wax is difficult to remove from your utensils. Wipe as much off as possible with a spatula and paper towel. Follow by washing
in hot soapy water. Lastly wipe down with some pure eucalyptus oil as this will dissolve and remove any last traces, plus it will also act as a disinfectant.

how to

prep time: 15 minutes (plus setting time)

cooking requirement: yes
makes: 1kg (10 x 100g bars)
packaging suggestion: 1 x empty 1L cardboard milk carton

step 1 Cut the soap into small pieces and place them into a double pot on your stove top. Using a low heat, gently melt the soap until it becomes liquid. Do not heat
beyond 60°C.
NB: The microwave can also be used as an alternative to the double pot, ensure you use on a low heat setting.
step 2 Once fully melted, add your choice of essential oils and other optional ingredients (except botanicals), mix well, but avoid creating too many bubbles.
step 3 Pour into moulds and let set for 24-48 hours.
step 4 If using botanicals add these into the individual moulds as the soap begins to harden.

tips on using melt & pour soap

tip 1 SEOC melt & pour contains high amounts of natural vegetable glycerine. Avoid over-heating the soap, as the glycerine will evaporate leaving the soap gasping for
moisture and resulting in it becoming slimy. However, if you do overheat the soap, add 5% purified water and continue with the recipe.
tip 2 Add colour to your soap with water-soluble dyes, natural dyes or natural clays.
tip 3 When adding cream base, clay or exfoliants to your recipe, use a handheld blender to gently mix to a smooth texture. Air bubbles may form. These can be trimmed
once the soap has set.
tip 4 Be creative with your choice of moulds. Here are a few ideas...
- an empty paper milk carton
- muffin or friand tins
- fancy ice cube trays (great for mini guest soaps)
