THE CONCEPT OF PHYSICAL FITNESSS

4.POWER – Maximum force in the shortest period of time.
5.FLEXIBILITY – Is a quality of plasticity which gives the ability to do a wide range of movement.
6.AGILITY – Change direction or position in space with quickness and lightness.
7.BALANCE – Ability to control organic equipment neuro-muscularly.
8.SPEED – Successive movements of the same kind in the shortest period of time.

CATEGORIES OF PHYSICAL FITNESS

A. HEALTH-RELATED PHYSICAL FITNESS – The components commonly include body


compostition, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance.
B. SKILL-RELATED FITNESS – Performance in sports and motor skills. Agility, balance,
coordination, power, reaction time, visual tracking may also be considered.

A. HEALTH-RELATED PHYSICAL FITNESS


1.BODY COMPOSITIONS – The proportion of Fat and non-fat mass in your body.
2.CARDIORESPIRATOY ENDURANCE – The ability of the heart and lungs to supply
oxygen.
3.MUSCULAR STRENGHT – The maximum force a muscle or groups of muscles can
generate.
4.MUSCULAR ENDURANCE – Perform repeated contractions over an extended period.
5.FLEXIBILITY – The range of motion around a joint or group of joints.

B. SKILL-RELATED FITNESS
1.BALANCE – Maintenance of equilibrium while stationary or moving.
2.AGILITY - The ability to rapidly change the position.
3.COORDINATION – Senses as sight and hearing.
4.POWER – The combination of strength and speed to perform explosive movements.
5.SPEED – The ability to move quickly in a specific direction.
6.REACTION TIME – The elapsed between stimulation and beginning of the reaction to
do it.

PATHS TO PHYSICAL FITNESS


1.PROPER MEDICAL CARE – requires regular medical examination.
2.NUTRITION – you are what you eat has much meaning concerning physical fitness.
3.DENTAL SERVICES – good oral hygiene is essential to physical fitness.
4.EXERCISE – There must be a proper selection of activities adapted to the age,
condition and other needs of the individual.
5.SATISFYING WORK – Work that is adapted to ones interests and abilities and
performed.
6.HEALTHY PLAY AND RECREATION – Atmosphere that has its by-products fun
enjoyable companionship and happy thoughts.
7.REST AND RELAXATION – Adequate sleep, essential to good health and physical
fitness.

SOMATOTYPES
1.SOMATOTYPE – Is defined as inherent body build or type.
2.SOMATOTYPING – A method of classifying the human body.

KRETSCHMER’S BODY TYPE SHELDON’S BODY TYPE CHARACTERISTICS


1. ASTHENC ECTOMORPH Lean, slim, shallow-
chested, and lall in
proportion to their weight.

and strong.
