URDU
Q)WHY WAS URDU CHOSEN AS NATIONAL
LANGUAGE?
1)Considered as the language of muslims;
.used in times of mughal empire.
.urdu is seen as a identity of muslims in the subcontinent.
.urdu may be used from times of Delhi sultanate.
.originated in north west india by combination of several
languages.
.widely spoken and understand in different parts of the
subcontinent .
.IMPACT;
Urdu played an important role to bring about a sense of nation
among the muslims of the subcontinent so it was choosen for a
unified cause of muslims to create separate homeland.

2)Rich literary background of urdu;


.urdu poetry started from the time of amir khusrau.
.with time,mughal emperor muhammad shah and bahaddur shah
zafar also promoted it.
.By these promotions ,urdu had strongly spread.
.Aligarh university become the centre for the study of urdu.
.It was also part of pak movement.
.IMPACT;
.The famous poets and writers produce their famous literary
masterpieces to provide the literary background for urdu to
become the national language.
3)Islamic work in urdu language;
.Urdu also became the part of of the islamic teaching in the
subcontinent.
.The quran was also translated to urdu by the sons of shah
waliullah .this gave a lot of people to adopt the lang.
.Several books written in urdu to spread islamic teaching of urdu
language itself.
.This brought unity and brotherhood among the muslims of the
subcontinent with the message of islam.
.IMPACT;
.urdu was seen as a language which served as a face of religious
beliefs of muslims in the subcontinent as many religous scholars
wrote their works in urdu language.
4)Urdu played a role in pak movement;
.Hindi urdu controversy was held before muslim league however
they defended urdu.
.it was started by british.saw a 2 language.
.they demanded that hindi to be leading language after eng.
.this was very alarming for muslims due to traditions and religion.
.Muslim gave a stiff response to hindus pressure to protect urdu.
.urdu became a matter of identity and protection of right for the
muslim.
.During the pak movement when any writing was produced urdu
was mainly used.
.islamia college became a centre of pak mov and wrote all writing.
.urdu was the lang of pak movement.
.IMPACT;
.Urdu provided the basic content of pak mov which help the
message of pakistan to be delivered in all parts of the
subcontinent where muslims were demanding for separate
homeland.
5)Selection of national language;
.Each province wanted its own language as a national language
including east pak.
.Muhammad ali jinnah avoided this and choose urdu as a national
language and avoided provincialism in pakistan.
.everyone objected especially east pakistan.
.They protested against it and stopped many things like govt.
.IMPACT;
.Urdu became the national language as jinnah saw it as the only
solution to stabilize pak which was formed of different cultures
and languages.

.SINDHI;
Promotion of sindhi;
.Sumro period.
.Shah abdul lateef bhitai and sachal sarmast promoted it.
.Sindh literary board was set up to print books and poetry and it
was very successful.
.The work by faqir nabi bux and G allana also promoted it.
.Sindhi folk literature was also written in the books.
.Bazme talib ul maula was set up in 1954 to promote sindhi.
.Sarmast academy was established for the people who wanted to
study sindhi.
.Sindhiology department at sindhi uni jamshoro.
.Radios,tv channels and dramas use sindhi lang to promote its
dialects.
.PUNJABI;
.Promotion of punjabi;
.Punjab literary board was setup which produced books and
novels in order to promote this language.
.These books were published on academic subjects.
.This step was taken very early and subjects such as
law,medicine,and history were produced.
.Punjabi poetry became popular with new mediums such as
ghazal.
.Muhammad ali faiq translated holy quran into punjabi.
.Uni of punjab taught punjabi at MA level.
.Punjabi folk stories became popular such as heer ranjha,sohni
mahiwal.
.Radios,tv channel and dramas use punjabi shows and serials to
promote its dialects.
.IMPACT;
.Punjabi is one of the most promoted language after
independence and is taught as a subject in school,collegs which
has promoted its dialect among the people.
.PASHTO;
.Promotion of pashto;
.In order to promote pashto,academy for the promotion of pashto
was established in 1954.
.This academy also prepared a dictionary in pashto that was
acceptable for everyone.
.Post graduate classes in pashto literature are established in
universities of kpk to promote pashto.
.Uni of peshawar taught pashto upto higher levels.
.Pashto played an important role in pak movement.
.Islamia college increased political awareness among muslims by
producing works in pashto language.
.Famous writers of pashto were khushal khan khattak.
.Radio,tv channels and dramas use pashto language to promote
its dialects.
.IMPACT;
.pashto language was also promoted after independence as it
plays a significant role in independence of pak and was
recognized as one of the imp regional languages of pakistan.

.BALOCHI
.promotion of balochi;
.Balochi literary association was set up to publish weekly and
monthly magazines.
.balochi literature was promoted by the works of atta shad and
ishaq shamin.
.Balochi was also promoted by the works of gulkhan nazeer and
azad jamal din.
.Radio pakistan karachi began to broadcast in in balochi.
.Balochi folk songs became and very famous in the media.
.Quetta television started broadcasted in balochi language.
.TV channels and dramas used balochi to promote its dialect.
.IMPACT;
Balochi was also promoted as a regional language of pak by
promoting its work orally.
