I thank God Almighty for thy unfailing love and mercy that showered upon us throughout last month. The month of May witnessed two important events in the life of Christian church, they were the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ and the feast of the Pentecost. Both these events urge the church to carry out the God given mission and to spread the gospel to the ends of the world. The feast of Pentecost reminds us of the truth that we alone can’t do the mission, rather we need to wait upon the Holy spirit who empowers us in our missional endeavors. JUMBUNNA MINISTRY CONFERENCE Jumbunna Episcopate’s ministry conference was held on 5th to 7th of May at Foothills Conference Centre, Mooroolbark. It was an amazing event to spend time in listening to wonderful speakers, attending Bible studies, group prayers and more over getting in touch with many servants of God. Listening to Dr. Yohanna Katanacho, a Palestinian Biblical scholar was the highlight of this conference. KOOYOORA OSCA TRAINIG As the part of MCSI becoming a separate entity in connection with the clearances and ministry standards, the vicar and the secretary attended an online training conducted by Kooyoora via Zoom on 21st of May. So far, we were under the umbrella of the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne in relation with the safe ministry standards and clearances. Becoming a separate entity will help us in many ways in the days to come. I appreciate the efforts made by our secretary Mrs. Dhanya to coordinate this process. CLERGY VISIT We feel honored and blessed with the visit of Rev. Cherian Thomas, vicar of the Olassa pastorate in Madhya Kerala Diocese and Rev. Jobin Easow Cherian from Bhilai Mission Chhattisgarh during their personal visit in Melbourne. I thank them for the ministry they extended towards us during their stay here. The Right Reverend Dr. Devasahayam, the former Bishop of the Madras Diocese of CSI have also made a short visit to our Church along with the Revd. Sandy Boyce the general secretary of VCC. TALENTS & AWARDS NIGHT
Talents & Awards night held on 18th Saturday was a spectacular event with lots of colorful performances. It was a remarkable event with many participants from both MCSI and St. Matthews. I appreciate Ms. Priya Justin for coordinating this event and Justin Israel, Jessymol Justin and Prasad Nadar for arranging delicious dinner thereafter. COTTAGE PRAYER We have started our monthly cottage prayers for the year 2024 from 25th of May. Prayer schedule for the whole year is already published in our notice board and WhatsApp group. I request everyone to attend the cottage prayers without fail as a part of strengthening our fellowship. WEEKLY BIBLE STUDY Weekly Bible study program is available via Zoom on every Wednesdays at 8 pm. We have completed the book of Daniel and now began with Paul’s letter to the Romans. Make this opportunity to enrich our biblical knowledge. OUTREACH MINISTRY Vicar makes a regular monthly visit to the Grand Cedar Aged Care on third Tuesdays of every month and conducts the Holy Communion service for the interested inhabitants. Let us continue our walk with the risen Lord as his faithful disciples to spread the good news in and around us. Let us continue to listen to listen to God’s voice and be submissive to the Holy spirit.
