Welcome to Sibelius® music notation software from Avid®. Sibelius lets you create beautiful scores, parts, charts,
lead sheets, songbooks—really any kind of printed music in any style, for any genre. Whether you are creating or-
chestral scores, jazz charts, guitar tab, worksheets for music education, or anything else, Sibelius lets you do it
quickly and easily with professional results.
Sibelius software runs on macOS or Windows, and the Sibelius app on iPad or iPhone. You can share Sibelius scores
(.sib files) between all platforms. This lets you work on your scores in the studio on your desktop or laptop com-
puter, or on the go with your iPad or iPhone. Keep your Sibelius files on cloud storage (such as iCloud) to work on
them with Sibelius on your desktop or laptop computer in tandem with Sibelius for mobile on your iPad or iPhone.
Note that not all features available with each tier of Sibelius software on macOS or Windows are currently avail-
able with the Sibelius app on iPad or iPhone (see Feature Differences by Tier). There are also a few minor differ-
ences between using Sibelius on iPad versus iPhone. These differences are identified in this guide where appropri-
ate.
The Sibelius software product line consists of three tiers of feature functionality ranging from beginner to profes-
sional: Sibelius | First (perfect for beginners), Sibelius Artist (great for students and skilled amateurs), and
Sibelius | Ultimate (a must for professionals). In this documentation, “Sibelius” generally refers to all three—
Sibelius | First, Sibelius Artist, and Sibelius | Ultimate—for the sake of readability. This guide specifically covers us-
ing Sibelius for mobile on iPad and iPhone. For detailed information on all Sibelius features and functions, see the
Sibelius Reference Guide.pdf.
To get started, download and install the Sibelius app on your iPad or iPhone for free from the Apple App Store.
Once it is installed you can log in to your Avid Master Account to unlock features if you already have
Sibelius | Ultimate or Sibelius Artist software for your desktop or laptop computer, or you can upgrade your sub-
scription with your Apple User ID to unlock features just for Sibelius on your iPad or iPhone.
To sign up, go to avid.com, click on “Sign In,” and then fill in the required fields located under “Create Avid Master
Account.” Choose “Link this account” if you already have an account or choose “Create Account,” fill in the re-
quired fields, and click Submit.
Your Avid Master Account is divided into sections. Notice that the Avid Support Center, Download Center, and Avid
Community need to be linked.
If you own a registered copy of or subscription for Sibelius Artist or Sibelius Ultimate, log in to your Avid Master Ac-
count from the Sibelius app on iPad or iPhone to unlock the corresponding feature set. For more information, see
Avid Login or In-app Purchase.

Get started with Sibelius quickly by reviewing our online Sibelius tutorial videos:
Sibelius Tutorials and
Sibelius for Mobile Tutorials
Sibelius on an iPad or iPhone has two main views: Documents view and Score view. In Documents view you can
manage and open Sibelius files (.sib), as well as create new Sibelius scores. In Score view you can edit, play, print,
and review scores.
Light versus Dark—the Sibelius app follows the Display & Brightness settings for Appearance automatically
(in the Settings app).
Documents View
When you first launch the Sibelius app on an iPad or iPhone it opens in Documents view. Subsequently, if you quit
the app while in Score view, the next time you launch the app it opens the last score you had open in Score view.
Documents view lets you navigate the iOS file system where you can manage and open Sibelius files (.sib) on your
iPad or iPhone, as well as create new Sibelius scores. All common iOS file management functions are available in
Documents view. You can navigate Locations (such as your iCloud Drive, On My iPad or On My iPhone, and Fa-
vorites), use Tags, create folders, and so on. When you select files or folders you can use common file and folder
management tasks, such as Share, Duplicate, Move, Delete, and More. Additionally, a Create Document icon is al-
ways present in the upper left hand corner of this view. Tapping either that or the + symbol at the top of the screen
opens the Manuscript Paper and Example Score view where you can create a new score (.sib file).
Documents view
Score View
Tap a Sibelius file in Documents view to open it in Score view. Alternately, you can tap a Sibelius file in the Files app
and it will launch the Sibelius app with that file in Score view. If you had a score open the last time you quit the app,
the next time you launch the app it opens that score in Score view. Score view lets you play back, edit, review, and
print a score, as well as log in to and manage your account and Sibelius licenses.

only view, play back, and print the score. When opening a score created in a higher tier of Sibelius (such as
Sibelius | Ultimate) in a lower tier of Sibelius (such as Sibelius First) that has more staves than are supported,
the score opens locked and cannot be unlocked.
Note that touching an object in the score will select it, and dragging will move the selected object.
Panorama view
The view changes from Page to Panorama (or from Panorama back to Page).
Using an external keyboard, press Shift+P to toggle between Panorama and Page views.
Creating a Score
To create a new score:
1 In Documents view, do one of the following:
• Tap the Create Document icon.
• Tap + at the top right in Documents view.
2 Tap to Choose a Manuscript Paper from the available options (see Manuscript Paper and Example Score Gal-
lery).
3 Your new score opens in Score view (you can change, add, or remove Instruments once your new score is open
in Score view).
4 Touch and hold < and tap Save to save the score.
The Sibelius file for your new score is created in the location where you tapped Create Document or + using the
name of the selected Manuscript Paper. You can rename the new Score file in Documents view (see File Manage-
ment).
You can also open music xml files exported from any 3rd party iOS app, such as NotateMe.
File Management
In Documents view, the Sibelius app uses many of the same file management tools as the Files app.
File Menu
Use the File menu to Copy, Duplicate, Move, Delete, get Info on, add Tags to, Rename, and Share any file or folder.
File menu
The Sibelius app lets you lock or unlock scores to prevent or allow editing. When a score is unlocked, you can edit
all aspects of the score. When a score is locked you cannot edit it, but you can view, play back, and print the score.
Hidden objects, layout marks, and comments are not shown, which provides a clean look at the score as it will ap-
pear when printed. Additionally, when locked, the Undo, Create, and Command Search icons are hidden, and the
remaining icons turn monochromatic. Document Setup options are also not available in the More menu when a
score is locked. A locked score in the Sibelius app on iPad or iPhone is similar to Review mode in Sibelius on macOS
and Windows.
To avoid inadvertently moving objects or respacing staves when navigating your score using touch
gestures, you may want to temporarily lock it.
Unlocked score
Locked score
When opening a score created in a higher tier of Sibelius (such as Sibelius Ultimate) in a lower tier of
Sibelius (such as Sibelius First) that has more staves than are supported, the score opens locked and
cannot be unlocked.
When you first launch the Sibelius app, it opens with the Sibelius First feature set. If you own a registered copy of
or an Avid subscription for Sibelius Artist or Sibelius Ultimate, log in to your Avid Master Account in Score view to un-
lock the feature set to which you are entitled. If you do not own a registered copy of or an Avid subscription for Si-
belius Artist or Sibelius Ultimate, visit www.avid.com to buy one and create your Avid Master Account.
If you do not have an Avid Master Account and only want to use Sibelius on your iPad or iPhone, you can upgrade
your subscription from Sibelius First to Sibelius Artist or Sibelius Ultimate with an in-app purchase through the App
Store using your Apple ID. Use this method if you do not want to create an Avid Account. However, you will not be
entitled to run Sibelius Artist or Sibelius Ultimate on your desktop or laptop computer. You can upgrade or down-
grade your subscription at any time.
Not all of the features and functionality that are available with Sibelius on macOS and Windows are currently
available with the Sibelius app on an iPad or iPhone. For more information, see Feature Differences by Tier.
4 In the Sign in window, enter the email address and password you use for your Avid Master Account.
Once you are signed in to your Avid Master Account, the Sibelius app unlocks the feature set to which you are en-
titled.
A current and up-to-date Update and Support plan or Subscription to Sibelius Artist or Sibelius Ultimate is re-
quired to unlock the corresponding features. If you own Sibelius 7.5 or later, you can check the status of your
license in your Avid Master Account online. If you own an older version of Sibelius, visit Avid online and up-
grade to a current subscription at a discount.
After signing out, the Sibelius app reverts to the Sibelius First feature set.
The Sibelius app unlocks the feature set to which you subscribed. You can change your subscription at any time us-
ing Manage Subscription.
In Score view, the Sibelius app responds to touch gestures using one or more fingers in specific ways for zooming,
moving, making selections, note entry, and editing. You can also use the Apple Pencil (iPad only) or a mouse for
some of these tasks (the iPhone can be used with a wireless mouse using Bluetooth).

Using a Keyboard and Mouse
The Sibelius app supports an external keyboard and mouse (such as the Apple Magic Keyboard and Mouse with
iPad or a wireless keyboard using Bluetooth with iPhone). Use the keyboard for text entry and keyboard shortcuts
just as with Sibelius on macOS or Windows. Likewise, an external mouse behaves just like any mouse with Sibelius
on macOS or Windows.
Keyboard Shortcuts
The Sibelius app currently supports the following Keyboard Shortcuts with an external keyboard on iPad or iPhone.
Not all of the following Keyboard Shortcuts are available with an Apple Magic Keyboard since some keys are
only available with an extended keyboard.

Score/Parts:
Sibelius lets you undo and redo any changes you make to a score. The Sibelius app provides Undo buttons in Score
view and in the Keypad window. You can use touch gestures to undo or redo edits. Additionally, the Redo command
can be used to repeat the previous command or action.
Redoing a previous command only works if the Redo history is empty. Also note that here are a few com-
mands that are excluded, most significantly Selection actions and mouse drag actions. These are part of
the Undo/Redo history, but not part of repeat last command or action functionality.
The Undo and Redo commands are also available using Command Search.
If you have an external keyboard, you can use the keyboard shortcuts Command+Z and Command+Y.
To redo the last undone action, or to redo the last command or action:
1 Touch and hold the Undo button.
2 Choose Redo from the menu.
To redo the last undone action, or to redo the last command or action:
With three fingers, swipe right.
In Score view, you can make object and range selections using touch gestures, the Apple Pencil (iPad only), or an
external mouse (if available).
Objects in the score (such as notes, articulations, dynamics, and so on) change color when selected. Passage se-
lections are indicated by a light blue (“staff passage”) or purple box (“system passage”) around it.
You can more or less do the same things to all four kinds of selection. The main difference is how you select the ob-
jects in the first place.
Making Selections
To make an object selection:
Tap the object with your finger or Apple Pencil.
Making Selections 25
To select the all bars in a system for a single staff:
Double-tap any bar on the staff in the system.
To select a single bar with all staves in a system, do one of the following:
Tap a bar in any staff in the system with two fingers.
Touch and hold on a bar in any staff in the system, and release.
Selection Colors
When an object is selected, it changes color to indicate that it is selected:
• Notes and staff-attached text and lines are colored according to the voice(s) to which they belong (voice 1 is dark
blue, voice 2 is green, voice 3 is orange, and voice 4 is pink). If an object belongs to more than one voice, or all
voices, it is colored light blue.
• Various other staff objects (such as symbols, clefs, instrument changes, and so on), apply to all voices and so are
also colored light blue.
• System objects (such as system text, lines and symbols, time signatures, key signatures, and so on) are colored
purple when selected.
Making Selections 26
Cutting, Copying, and Pasting Selections
The Sibelius app lets you cut, copy, and paste selections using a context menu or three-finger touch gestures.
The Cut, Copy, and Paste commands are also available using Command Search.
If you have an external keyboard, you can use the keyboard shortcuts Command+X, Command+C, and Com-
mand+V.
To access the Undo/Cut/Copy/Paste/Redo context menu and cut or copy and paste a selection:
1 Make the selection that you want to cut or copy.
2 Three-finger tap anywhere on the screen. The context menu appears at the top of the screen.
3 Tap Cut or Copy in the menu.
4 Make a new selection where you want to paste what you cut or copied.
5 Three-finger tap anywhere on the screen to show the context menu again.
6 Tap Paste in the menu.
Making Selections 27
Make Selection into an Irregular Bar
Sibelius lets you create an irregular bar from a selection using the Make Into Bar command. This is useful for cre-
ating pick-up bars and also for merging multiple bars.
The Make Into Bar command is best used during note entry, before adding system objects or formatting
your score.
System objects are not included whether they are selected or not. This includes system text, symbols,
lines, key signatures, and special barlines. Additionally, creating an irregular bar resets the layout, so if
the selection includes the end of a line with a system or page break, it will be removed and you have to add
the break back if you still want it.
2 Tap the Command Search icon and type “Make Into Bar.”
3 Tap the Make Into Bar command.
The first bar changes to the duration of the selection (such as an eight-note’s duration) while the following bars
keep the duration of the specified meter.
Making Selections 28
Merge Selected Bars into an Irregular Bar
To merge multiple bars into a single irregular bar:
1 In score view, make a multi-bar selection (which may include partial bars as well as whole bars). Be sure to select
everything you want to include in the new bar across all instruments. Any material that is not included in the se-
lection will be omitted from the new bar and removed from the score.
2 Tap the Command Search icon and type “Make Into Bar.”
3 Tap the Make Into Bar command.
Making Selections 29
Sibelius Keypad
The Sibelius app provides an on-screen Keypad for note entry and editing just like with Sibelius on macOS and
Windows, but with a few differences on an iPad or iPhone. The Keypad window is shown in the lower right of the
screen in Score view, but it can be placed in any location on the screen that you want. You can use touch gestures,
an Apple Pencil (iPad only), an external mouse, or an external numeric keypad with the Sibelius Keypad.
Keypad Window
To show the Keypad window:
In Score view, tap the Keypad icon. It appears in the lower right of the score by default.

Keypad Layouts
The Keypad has six layouts (Keypad layouts for Sibelius Ultimate shown below). Not all options are supported in Si-
belius First or Sibelius Artist.
Sibelius Keypad 31
To change Keypad layouts:
Tap the Layout icon in the second row at the top of the Keypad window for the Keypad layout you want to view.
Voices
Sibelius Artist and Sibelius Ultimate support up to four voices per staff, and Sibelius First supports no more than
two. The bottom row of the Keypad window lets you select individual voices on a staff for note entry and editing.
Tap to select Voice 1, 2, 3, 4, or All (for all voices). Voices are color coded as follows:
• Voice 1 - Blue
• Voice 2 - Green
• Voice 3 - Orange
• Voice 4 - Pink
• All Voices - Light Blue (also for any selected objects that are assigned to more than one voice)
When using the keypad for note entry and note editing, keypad selections highlight in the color of the voice
being edited.

You can also use an external USB or Bluetooth MIDI controller to enter notes using step entry in conjunction
with the Keypad (see Note Entry with MIDI).
Sibelius Keypad 32
3 Tap to select the voice for note entry. You can skip this step to enter notes in Voice 1 (default).
4 Touch and hold the rhythmic value on the Keypad for the note you want to enter. A shadow of the note appears
at the beginning of the selection.
5 Do the following:
• Move your finger up or down to move the note up or down on the staff.
Sibelius Keypad 33
5 Continue to enter notes as desired.
When entering notes using an Apple Pencil, you can simultaneously make changes to the shadow note by
tapping options on the Keypad with a finger while dragging the shadow note around the score with the Apple
Pencil. The note is entered at the location of the shadow note with the options selected on the Keypad when
you lift the Pencil.
Entering Rests
You can enter rests with the Keypad much like entering notes.
5 You can change the duration of the rest by dragging left to shorten or right to lengthen it. The rhythmic value of
the shadow rest changes as you do this.
6 Lift your finger to enter the rest.
7 The note entry cursor advances so you can continue to enter additional rests or notes one after the other.
Sibelius Keypad 34
Viewing and Editing Note Properties
When you select a note, the Keypad indicates its properties (such as rhythmic value, accidental, and articula-
tions). For example, when you select a half note in your score, the half note button on the first Keypad layout high-
lights. If the note is sharp and accented, the sharp and accent buttons on the Keypad are also highlighted. Simi-
larly, selecting a quarter note rest, the quarter note and rest buttons on the Keypad are highlighted.

Pitch Correction and Chord Input Tools
The first and second layouts of the Keypad provide two tools with special touch behavior on the iPad and iPhone:
the Pitch Correction tool and the Chord Input tool. These tools make adding and editing notes in chords easier with
touch gestures on iPad.

Note Entry Gestures for Percussion Instruments
Sibelius provides default note mappings for percussion instruments of indefinite pitch and non-pitched percussion
along with templates for relevant noteheads and articulations. Using the Keypad you can change noteheads while
entering notes on staves for percussion instruments. When entering notes on a percussion staff from the Keypad,
drag vertically to cycle through all defined note mappings, notehead types, and articulations. As you drag, Sibel-
ius plays different samples that match the percussion notation as it changes. Using this method you are restricted
from going beyond the defined note mappings as well as being restricted to the noteheads and articulations de-
fined in the template for each instrument.
To enter notes on a percussion staff and cycle through the defined note mappings, noteheads, and
articulations (if any):
1 Tap at the location on a percussion instrument staff where you want to enter a note.
2 On the Keypad, click (or tap) on the desired rhythmic value (such as a quarter-note) and drag vertically (up or
down).
As you drag up or down, a shadow note cycles through the defined note mappings, noteheads, and articulations.
To cycle through defined note mappings, noteheads, and articulations for a selected percussion note:
Tap and drag vertically on the Pitch Correction tool in the Keypad.
Sibelius Keypad 38
Percussion Note Entry with an Apple Pencil
On iPad, you can use an Apple Pencil to edit notes on a percussion staff using hard-press and tilt gestures.
To change the notehead style of the shadow note on a Percussion staff with an Apple Pencil:
1 Hard press with the Apple Pencil and then use vertical tilt (up or down).
2 Once the notehead you want is shown, reduce pressure on the Pencil and move the newly styled note to where
you want it.
3 Release to enter the note.
The next notes you enter will match the notehead of the edited note. For example, if you just entered a cross note-
head for a high-hat by tapping the score with your pencil, the next note that you enter will also be a cross note-
head.
“Hard Press Select” on any note in your score to enter note input mode and have the shadow note match
the selection. This way you can use any existing material on your percussion staff as a “palette” for the next
notes you enter. If you are alternating between entering normal notes and cross noteheads, tap the screen
with your finger to leave note input mode, then with the Apple Pencil use a hard press to select the next note
style that you want to use, and then drag the newly styled note into place.
Sibelius Keypad 39
Note Entry with MIDI
The Sibelius app lets you use USB or Bluetooth MIDI devices for step input note entry on your iPad or iPhone. USB
MIDI devices are plug and play (a supported USB-C/USB or Lightening/USB adapter is required for the connection
between your USB MIDI controller and your iPad or iPhone), but some setup is required to use a Bluetooth MIDI de-
vice with the Sibelius app.
5 In the resulting Bluetooth MIDI Devices list, select any of the devices found.
6 If the selected device is listed as Not Connected, tap it again to make the connection.
The selected, connected Bluetooth MIDI device can now be used for MIDI note step entry.
4 Edit changes to Cancel, the x changes to Forget, and select buttons appear to the left of every device in the list.
In Score view, the Create menu lets you access galleries for Notations, Lines, Symbols, Text, and Instruments.
Sibelius provides many notation objects and commands in galleries. Galleries typically list options as icons orga-
nized by category and often include a search function.

Notations Galleries
The Notations tab includes galleries for Clefs, Key Signatures, Time Signatures, and Barlines.
With a single bar or partial bar selection, Clef, Key Signature, and Time Signature changes persist to the end of the
score or to the next Clef, Key Signature, or Time Signature change.
Clefs
To add a clef or make a clef change:
1 Select the entire staff or make passage selection on the staff.
2 Tap the + icon for the Create menu.
3 Tap the Notations tab and then the Clef gallery.
4 Tap the clef you want.
Key Signatures
Key signature changes are applied to all staves in the system for the range of the selection.

Time signature changes are applied to all staves in the system for the range of the selection.
The time signature is applied at the beginning of the selection to all staves in the system.
If there is a different time signature before or after the selection, it is maintained. Music in the selection is re-written
to fit the new meter.
Barlines
The Barline gallery lets you change the style of selected barlines in the score.
All barlines in the selection change to the new barline style across all staves in the system. However, repeats are an
exception: if either a Start Repeat or End Repeat is applied to a bar or passage selection, Start Repeat is applied
to the barline at the beginning of the selection and End Repeat is applied to the barline the end of the selection. All
other barlines in between remain unchanged.
Lines Galleries
The Lines tab includes galleries for all manner of line objects such as slurs, hairpins, trills, glissandi, and so on.
Text Galleries
The Text tab includes galleries for all text objects including techniques, tempo, chord symbols, and so on.

Wildcards
Sibelius lets you define wildcard text within a score. Wildcards are simple ways of recalling and using generic score
information throughout a score (such as \$TITLE\” or “\$COMPOSER\”). All wildcards are available in the Word
Menu for text objects. They can be reassigned at different places in the score.
When you next use “\$TITLE\” in your score, it will read “Bright Sunny Day.”
If you edit the text object again, it lets you edit the value of the wildcard right there as something new (for example,
“\$TITLE=In the dark\”). Modifying this value updates all values for the $TITLE wildcard throughout the score.
If you define a “backstage” wildcard within a text object it also sets that defined value in the appropriate field in
backstage (File Info), but in this case, these changes would only be seen when opening the file in Sibelius on Mac
or Windows (since there is no backstage in Sibelius for mobile).
Instrument Galleries
The Instruments tab provides galleries for almost any instrument. Using the Instrument galleries, you can add and
change instruments in your score. When changing instruments for a staff, you can change the instrument for the
whole staff or you can add an instrument change for a passage selection on a single staff (for example, if you have
a single player doubling on multiple instruments such as Oboe and English Horn).
The instrument change applies to the passage selection only and the original instrument is maintained before and
after the selection. Additionally, text is added before each instrument change indicating the switch.
Command Search lets you find and execute Sibelius commands on any selection in the score.
Any commands that are not supported in your tier of Sibelius are grayed out. Any commands that are not currently
supported on iPad are not shown.

Transpose
Sibelius for mobile lets you transpose object selections, range selections, or complete scores by key or by interval.
Sibelius Artist and Sibelius Ultimate also support toggling between concert pitch and transposed score views.
When transposing any score created with a key (such as C major or A minor), all key signatures in the score are up-
dated accordingly. For scores that were created Atonal/No key, no key signatures are added.
When transposing a range (passage) selection that includes the System Stave (purple highlight), new key signa-
tures are applied within the selection accordingly. For object and range selection that do not contain the System
Stave (blue highlight), notes are transposed, but no key signatures are added.

Dynamic Guitar Staves
Sibelius provides Dynamic Guitar staves, which let you link two staves so that a guitar notation staff can be paired
with a tablature staff and share the same stream of musical data The template for “Solo Guitar” opens with this
enabled by default.
You can now edit the notation and tab staves for the guitar instrument in tandem.
To change a single guitar notation or tab staff into dynamic guitar staves:
1 Select the guitar notation or tab staff that you want to change.
2 Type Add Dynamic Guitar Staff in Commands search and tap the command.
This adds a staff linked to the original guitar staff. It is the opposite notation style of the original staff (notation or
tab).
You can modify the musical content of either staff and your changes are made on the other staff automatically.
Additionally, slur geometry can be different between the notation and tab staves.
The Sibelius app lets you play back scores using the Sibelius Sounds mobile edition sound libraries. These sound li-
braries are installed with the Sibelius app and require approximately 900 MB of local storage.
For playback, sounds are selected automatically according to the instruments in the score. Sibelius plays back all
dynamic markings and articulations, and follows all tempo markings. Likewise, Sibelius observes repeats and
structure markings (such as D.C. al Coda).
Play button
If there is no selection in the score, playback of the full score starts from the beginning of the score.
If one or more objects are selected, playback of the full score starts from the first selected object.
If there is a passage selection, playback starts at the beginning of the selection and only instruments in the selec-
tion play back. Any instruments not in the selection are muted. Note that while playback will start at the beginning
of a selection, it will continue past the end of the selection.
To stop playback:
Tap the Stop button.
With an external keyboard, press the Spacebar.
Stop button
Playback line
During playback, the playback line moves through the score following the beat structure of the music.
The Sibelius app lets you view, add, and edit comments. There are two types of comments: “sticky note” comments
and “text” comments. Comments can serve as reminders of things you want to do, or as a handy way to commu-
nicate with people you collaborate with, whether it’s your teacher or student, arranger or editor.
When a score is locked, comments are hidden. To view, add, or edit comments, ensure that the score is unlocked.
When sharing a score between different people for review and comment, Sibelius automatically assigns a color for
the comments added to the score by each individual, letting you see at a glance which comments have been added
by different people. You cannot edit the color of comments on iPad or iPhone.
The comment automatically appears attached to the top staff in the selection, and the text of the comment shows
the names of the selected staves and the bars.

To add a “sticky note” comment without making a selection:
1 Tap the Command Search icon.
2 Type “comment” in the Command Search field.

4 Tap where you want the comment to go. A sticky note is added at that location.

Viewing Parts
(Sibelius Artist and Sibelius Ultimate Only)
Sibelius Artist and Sibelius Ultimate for mobile let you separately view, edit, and print any of the parts in a score.
Sibelius | Ultimate provides dynamic parts, so that any changes you make to notes, rhythms, and articulations, for
example, in any individual part are made in the score. Likewise any such changes you make in the score are re-
flected in the corresponding part. However, it is important to note that certain changes made in parts are part-spe-
cific and are not updated in the score, such as the position of text objects or the spelling of accidentals (Sibelius Ul-
timate only). This lets you format parts independently of the score with the best layout for the performer.
2 Tap the name of the part that you want to view. Tap Full Score to return to viewing the full score.
3 Sibelius returns to Score view showing only the selected part for editing or printing.
In most cases, edits that you make in the part are also made in the score (and visa versa).
Choosing Print from the ... More menu when viewing a part prints that individual part only.
In addition to using the ... More menu to switch between the score and parts, you can use the following touch ges-
tures or keyboard shortcuts.
If you have an external keyboard, press W to switch between the full score and either the first part in
the score or the last viewed part. Press Command+Option+‘ (accent) to view the next part or press
Command+Option+Shift+‘ (accent) to view the previous part.
The Make Into Part command lets you convert a staff selection into a new part.
