Rise of lab

grown Meat
Future of animals
How is lab grown meat made?
The process of making lab-grown meat begins with
the extraction of cells from the muscle and skin tissue
of a living animal. Local anesthesia may be used to
eliminate the momentary discomfort the animal may
experience.
What are the benefits of lab grown meat?
● An end to animal cruelty —At present, 70 billion land animals are
killed for human consumption every year.

● A reduction in environmental damage — Industrial farming is a

major contributor to climate change, deforestation, a loss of
biodiversity, and air and water pollution. Between 11.8% and 14.5%
of all global greenhouse gases, for example, are emitted by the
agricultural sector.
● A healthy alternative to farm-grown meat – Scientists in lab-grown
meat facilities can control the cholesterol and saturated fat content
of their products.
● A solution to land and food scarcity — Lab-grown meat could
eventually serve as a cheap and easily accessible food source, and
can help with food shortages during times of crisis.
Are there other types
of meat made in labs?
In addition to lab-grown beef, cultured chicken and
duck products are in the works. Scientists are also
experimenting with the same process of cell
agriculture to produce milk, eggs, and leather.
Is cultured meat more environment friendly?
It is already appearing to be much more
eco-friendly. Compared to conventional
beef, lab-grown beef requires 45% less
energy use, 99% less land use, and produces
96% fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
