Cultivated meat
Benefits
 Animal welfare. Lab-grown meat does not require that
animals suffer like they do on a tremendous scale in
industrial farming, which produces more than 99 percent of
our current meat supply.
 Environment. Lab-grown meat requires less land and water
than traditional meat, and produces fewer greenhouse
gasses.
 Worker welfare. Industrial animal agriculture contributes to
many health problems for its workers. Slaughterhouses are
one of the most dangerous industries for workers in America
today.
 Public health. The pandemic and antibiotic resistance risks
of lab-grown meat are minimal compared to those of factory
farms.
 Reduced Land Use: It requires far less land to produce
cultivated meat since there is no need for grazing or growing
feed crops.
 Water Conservation: The production of lab-grown meat
uses considerably less water compared to traditional animal
farming.
 Global Food Supply: It could help meet the growing global
demand for protein as the human population increases,
without putting extra strain on natural resources.
While the technology is still evolving, these benefits position
cultivated meat as a potentially transformative solution for
addressing the challenges of traditional meat production.
However, scaling it for mass production and making it
affordable are challenges that still need to be addressed.
