Digital signature
The digital signature functionality reduces the number of printed documents that need to be signed
within an organization.

Digital signatures can be internal, such as an SAP system user's password, or even use external
devices, such as fingerprint readers or card slides. Digital signatures can confirm important
business decisions.

Configuration Basics:
The following are the six important steps in configuring a digital signature:

1- Define authorization groups

2- Define individual signatures

3- Define a signature strategy

4- Define Material Authorization Groups

5- Specify Signature Method for Approval Using Simple Signature

Execution processing
1-Assign QM material auth. In material master

2-Create inspection lot the make a result recording the digital signature will be shown

3-Make a usage decision

1- Define authorization groups

An authorization group is used to limit the authorization of a transaction or group of transactions to


a specific user.

While basis consultant is creating a role based on the user, he is going to provide this particular
authorization group according to his particular role

2-Define Individual Signatures

An individual signature is a unique identification in the SAP system to which a user is assigned.

Create individual signature then assign authorization group that been created.

3-Define a signature strategy

A signature strategy is the combination of different individual signatures that are assigned to an
authorization group. A signature strategy also defines the sequence and flow of individual
signatures and maintains the predecessor-successor relationships.

A Released status denotes that the digital signature process is complete in every respect.

1- you should create signature strategy and choose its signature method by sap user ID/Password
or in case you have a third party system connected with sap then you’re going to use other options
from external security.

If you have a hierarchy signature should be performed, you can assign the predecessors as well
