the driving crank BC is 30mm long and time ratio of the working stroke to return stroke is to be 1.7. if the length of
the working stroke of R is 120 mm, determine the dimension of AC and AP. Ans.AC= 75.7 mm, AP= 151.4mm
Q2. In a Whitworth quick return motion mechanism as shown in fig.(b) The distance between the fixed Centre is
50mm and the length of the driving crank is 75mm. the length of the slotted lever is 150mm and the length of the
connecting rod is 135mm. find the ratio of the time of cutting stroke to the time of return stroke and also the
effective stroke. β= 96.40 Ratio= 2.735, R1R2= 87.5mm
Q3. Locate all the instantaneous Centre of the slider crank mechanism as shown in fig.(c) The length of crank OB and
connecting rod AB are 100mm and 400mm respectively. If the crank rotates clockwise with an angular velocity of
10rad/s, find velocity of the slider A, Angular velocity of the connecting rod AB. Ans. VA=082rad/s, ωAB=1.78rad/s
Q4. In a pin jointed four bar mechanism as shown in fig (d) AB=300mm, BC=CD=360mm, and AD=600mm. The angle
BAD=600. The crank AB rotates uniformly at 1000rpm. Locate all the instantaneous centers and find the angular
velocity of the link BC. Ans. VB=3.141m/s, ωBC =6.282rad/s
Q5. Locate all the instantaneous Centre for a four-bar mechanism as shown in fig (e) the length of the various link is
AD=125mm, AB=62.5mm, BC=CD=75mm if the link AB rotates at a uniform speed of 10rpm in the clockwise direction,
find the angular velocity of the link BC&CD Ans.0.63rad/s, 0.65rad/s
Q6. State and prove the Arnold Kennedy theorem. Locate all the instantaneous Centre of the slide crank mechanism
as shown in fig (f) the length of various are AD=145mm, AB=72.5 BC=CD=85mm if the link AB rotates at a uniform
speed of 20rpm in the clockwise direction, find the angular velocity of the link BC &CD.
Q7. In a crank a slotted lever quick return motion mechanism the distance between fixed Centre is 240mm and the
length of the driving crank is 120mm. find the inclination of the slotted bar with the vertical in the extreme position
and the ratio of cutting stroke to the return stroke.
If the length of the slotted bar is 450mm, find the length of stroke if the line of stroke passes through
the extreme positions of the free end of the lever. Fig(g) Ans. Ratio=2, R1R2=450mm

Q9. In a Oldham shaft coupling, the distance between shaft axes is 30mm and speed of rotation is 600rpm. What is
the maximum speed of sliding of each tongue in the slot? Ans. ω =62.831rad/s Vs=1.884m/s
Q10. In a Whitworth quick return motion mechanism, if the length of driving link is 400mm, what should be the
distance between the fixed pivots if required time ratio of forward stroke : return stroke is 2:1
