Polished Stinger
Weatherford's polished stinger provides a polished OD
against which the Weatherford RSM or RKC cementing
packoff can form a seal. It can also be used to provide a
polished OD for sealing against stinger packoffs or
drillable packoffs.

Applications
— Liners using an RSM or RKC cementing packoff,
stinger packoff, or drillable packoff

Features, Advantages and Benefits

— Polished OD provides a reliable seal against all of
Weatherford's retrievable, drillable, or stinger packoffs
to ensure that pressure can be built up against a ball
seat.

Specifications
Contact an authorized Weatherford representative.

Options
— The polished stinger is available with a half undercut or
full undercut for inner string applications.
— This tool is also available with standard Acme
connections or high-torque Hydril® connections.

Pickup Sub
Weatherford's pickup sub is run at the bottom of polished
stingers to release retrievable packoffs so that they can
be retrieved with the running string. The pickup sub is
available in a variety of configurations, including models
with connections at the bottom end or with profiles for a
wiper plug.

Applications
— Liners using a Weatherford RSM or RKC cementing
packoff

RSM Retrievable Cementing

Packoff with Jointed System
Weatherford's RSM retrievable cementing packoff with jointed system provides a liner-top
seal between the running string OD and the liner ID. It allows pressure to build against a
ball seat farther down the hole so that items such as hydraulically activated liner hangers
can be set, while ensuring that all mud and cement are circulated through the bottom of the
liner.
One end of the jointed system connects to the bottom of the RSM; the other end of the
jointed system usually connects to the adaptor for the applicable wiper plug.
The RSM contains internal and external seals. It is designed to fit into a profile located in
the liner-top packer or liner setting sleeve, which provides the seal bore for the external
seals and lock profile for the dogs. The inner seals of the RSM form a seal against the
outside of the polished stingers. The RSM is released by shifting the inner sleeve with a
pickup sub or pressure port straddle.

Applications
— Cemented liners

Features, Advantages and Benefits

— With the jointed system, the plug is not moved when the liner running tools are rotated
while being released or picked up to check for release. This advantage prevents damage
to, or premature launching of, the wiper plug, allowing the wiper plug to function as
intended.
— Premium molyglass seals can withstand high differential pressure and are almost
chemically inert, making the RSM an ideal sealing system in most well conditions.
— The RSM reduces rig time by eliminating the need to drill out a non-retrievable packoff.
— The design of the RSM reduces the hydraulic lifting forces affecting the running-tool string
during cementation operations, reducing the risk of pumping the tool string up the hole.
— RSM dogs do not contact the polished stinger. This design prevents damage to the
polished stinger and ensures optimal performance of the RSM after the running tool has
been released.

Pressure Port Straddle (PPS)

Weatherford's pressure port straddle (PPS) is used to set liner hangers and
holddown subs in liners where an inner string is run and cementation occurs
after the retrievable cementing packoff (RSM) is pulled. The PPS initially
provides a means of communication so that hydraulically set liner hangers
and other hydraulically activated equipment can be set. It is then closed to
regain string integrity.
The PPS is run with the sleeve in the open position and the ports exposed.
Picking up the PPS into the RSM after releasing the running tools pushes the
outer sleeve down, closing the ports and also releasing the RSM packoff.
Once the ports are closed, the pressure integrity of the inner string is
re-established to provide a circulation path down the inner string.

Applications
— Liners run with an inner string for which inner string integrity is required after
the RSM packoff is released

Features, Advantages and Benefits

— Pressure ports allow hydraulic activation of a liner hanger or holddown sub
with an inner string and can be closed later to regain inner string integrity.
— Collet design prevents the sleeve from shifting into the open position once it
is closed, ensuring pressure integrity for subsequent operations.
— With an ID equal to that of the stinger, the PPS does not impose any
additional restrictions on cement or fluid flow, minimizing the chance of the
tool being washed out and compromising the integrity of the string.

Inner String Swivel

Weatherford's inner string swivel is used to protect inner strings from
exposure to torsional forces and features a bearing to facilitate this
function. The swivel absorbs rotation and torque applied to the running
tools, protecting the inner string below. The swivel also allows dissipation
of any torque to which the inner string is exposed.

Applications
— Liners run with an inner string

Features, Advantages and Benefits

— Premium bearing protects the inner string from the torque and rotation
applied to the liner running tools.
— The bearing also dissipates any torque applied by the liner to the inner
string, helping to protect the inner string from residual torque.
— With an ID equal to that of the stinger, the tubing swivel does not
impose any additional restriction on cement or fluid flow.
