1. Chemical Product and Company Identification INCI name: Fatty Alcohol Polyoxyethylene Ether CAS No.:
111-09-3
Supplier address: Room 903-05, Building E, Longxi Center, No.18 Qide Road, Guangzhou City, China
2. Hazards Identification
Ingestion:
May cause some irritation to the mouth and upper digestive tract.
May cause significant skin irritation especially if exposure is prolonged and/or repeated. Contact with eyes
can cause severe irritation. If not washed out promptly, will injure the tissue, and permanent damage may
result.
3. Composition/Information on Ingredients
Ether
Immediately hold eyelids apart and flush the eye continuously with running water.
Ensure complete irrigation of the eye by keeping eyelids apart and away from eye and moving the
eyelids by occasionally lifting the upper and lower lids.
Continue flushing until advised to stop by the Poisons Information Centre or a doctor, or for at least
15 minutes.
Removal of contact lenses after an eye injury should only be undertaken by skilled personnel.
Flush skin and hair with running water (and soap if available).
Inhalation:
Inhalation If fumes, aerosols or combustion products are inhaled remove from contaminated area.
Ingestion:
In the meantime, qualified first-aid personnel should treat the patient following observation and
employing supportive measures as indicated by the patient's condition.
If the services of a medical officer or medical doctor are readily available, the patient should be
placed in his/her care and a copy of the MSDS should be provided. Further action will be the
responsibility of the medical specialist.
If medical attention is not available on the worksite or surroundings send the patient to a hospital
together with a copy of the MSDS.
Where medical attention is not immediately available or where the patient is more than 15 minutes
from a hospital or unless instructed otherwise:
INDUCE vomiting with fingers down the back of the throat, ONLY IF CONSCIOUS. Lean patient
forward or place on left side (head-down position, if possible) to maintain open airway and prevent
aspiration.
5. Fire-fighting Measures
Flammability of the Product: Non-Flammable. Auto-Ignition Temperature: Not Applicable. Flash Point:
Not Applicable.
Means of extinction: Use water spray, Carbon Dioxide, Dry Chemical, or Alcohol Foam. Use water to keep
fire-exposed container cool.
Alert Fire Brigade and tell them location and nature of hazard.
Prevent, by any means available, spillage from entering drains or water courses.
Use water delivered as a fine spray to control fire and cool adjacent area.
Cool fire exposed containers with water spray from a protected location.
Fire/Explosion Hazard:
It is recommended that emergency personnel wear rubber gloves and protective glasses for operation,
and a small amount of leakage should be washed directly with water.
A large number of leaks need to be recycled as much as possible to avoid large amount of leakage into the
sewer and prevent pollution.
Large spills: Recycle as much as possible into plastic containers and rinse with water.
7. Handling and storage Suitable Containers:
Check all containers are clearly labelled and free from leaks.
Safe handling:
Work clothes should be laundered separately. Launder contaminated clothing before re- use.
Observe manufacturer's storage and handling recommendations contained within this MSDS.
Atmosphere should be regularly checked against established exposure standards to ensure safe
working conditions are maintained.
Other information:
Protect containers against physical damage and check regularly for leaks.
Observe manufacturer's storage and handling recommendations contained within this MSDS.
Chemical goggles.
Contact lenses may pose a special hazard; soft contact lenses may absorb and concentrate irritants.
A written policy document, describing the wearing of lenses or restrictions on use, should be
created for each workplace or task. This should include a review of lens absorption and adsorption
for the class of chemicals in use and an account of injury experience. Medical and first-aid personnel
should be trained in their removal and suitable equipment should be readily available. In the event
of chemical exposure, begin eye irrigation immediately and remove contact lens as soon as
practicable. Lens should be removed at the first signs of eye redness or irritation - lens should be
removed in a clean environment only after workers have washed hands thoroughly. [CDC NIOSH
Current Intelligence Bulletin 59], [AS/NZS 1336 or national equivalent].
Skin(Hands/Feet) protection:
Body: Aprons.
Incompatibility with other Substances: Strong Mineral Acids & strong Oxidizers.
Reactivity and under what conditions: Exposure to strong heat or mineral acids may lead to chemical
decomposition & acidic by-products.
Skin contact: Slight. The material may produce severe skin irritation after prolonged or repeated exposure,
and may produce a contact dermatitis (nonallergic). This form of dermatitis is often characterized by skin
redness (erythema) thickening of the epidermis.
Eye contact: Slight. The material may produce severe irritation to the eye causing pronounced
inflammation. Repeated or prolonged exposure to irritants may produce conjunctivitis.
Ingestion: N/A
Effect of Acute and Chronic Exposure to Material: Mist can be irritating to nose, throat & upper
respiratory tract. Symptoms include cough, dry throat, and difficulty in breathing, nasal congestion &
headaches.
Dissolved in water, the material is easily biodegradable (90 %) and will not cause any disturbance in waste
water treatment plants.
Leak-and-spill procedures: Being a liquid, it can be collected, cleaned up and stored in closed containers.
Disposal: This material is not hazardous material can be washed off with water jet, ensuring contaminated
water does not enter sewerages.
If container can not be cleaned sufficiently well to ensure that residuals do not remain or if the
container cannot be used to store the same product, then puncture containers, to prevent re-use,
and bury at an authorised landfill.
Where possible retain label warnings and SDS and observe all notices pertaining to the product.
The following laws, regulations, rules and standards have made corresponding provisions on the
management of the chemical:
