    REF: SENIOR ATTORNEY - PARTNERSHIPS, POLICY & ADVOCACY POSITION

    I hereby express my strong interest in the mandate and activities of IJM and particularly the
    position of Senior Attorney – Partnership, policy and Advocacy.

    I am an Advocate of the High Court of over 5 years good standing and currently working as an
    Associate Advocate at Kittony Maina Karanja Advocates in charge of the Mombasa Branch. In
    my five years in private practice I have had the opportunity to engage and build my skills and
    experience in various capacities. My position as the associate in charge of the Mombasa Branch
    affords me a unique opportunity to acquire and hone skills as a litigator as well as an
    administrator running the day to day of the firm. I am involved in the training my team,
    maintaining good client relations, creating new business opportunity by engaging new clientele
    and act as the bridge with our headquarter based in Nairobi.

    Over and above employment, I am also active in providing pro-bono legal and social-economic
    services in partnership with various private, multinational and governmental agencies. I have
    previously partnered with Kituo cha Sheria and Kenya Refugee Consortium to aid asylum
    seekers and refugees who find themselves in conflict with the law through legal clinics, and
    prosecuting Criminal Matters. Additionally, I have been involved in several Public Interest
    Litigation that revolve around constitutional issues such as forced eviction and right to housing.

    I have engaged in training across various disciplines including corporate governance and legal
    compliance which has resulted in increased compliance and mitigated risks. I am a member of an
    organization, FLAG, under the wider umbrella of LIFE ministries which seeks to integrate faith
    and Law in practice. We have been able to undertake training for campus going students and
    mentorship for young advocates.

    I am actively involved in the mission field as well. We recently concluded a mission to Manyani
    Maximum prison where we had time to engage with various stakeholders including the top
    management, police officers, and also offer legal aid to the inmates.

    As part of my contribution to the Legal fraternity, I am a member of the Law Society of Kenya
    Gender committee whose mandate is to foster cooperation and partnerships touching on gender
    issues with other institutions at local, regional or international levels.

    I am keen to work with in a team that is geared towards just resolution of disputes and mitigation
    of such disputes at the source by influencing policies and laws that are sound.

    I would appreciate an opportunity to join your team by offering my services in your partnership,

    good will in line with the organization’s mission and vision of protecting vulnerable persons.
