sand and mud settle on to the floors of oceans and lakes. Over a long period of time, several layers of sediments collect
on the floor. These layers are pressed together over many thousands of years, fusing the small solid particles of mud and
sand to form solid rock. This type of rock is called sedimentary rock.

making a diagnose on the patient’s disease. And this will sometimes cause the doctor inaccurate in prescribing the
medicine to cure the illness.
Not all patients agree with the use of x-ray examination, however. They think that using x-ray examination will
cost them a lot of money. That’s really true. Another reason is the radiation of x-ray has some risks to the body tissues.
Well, as result of this controversy, many people are planning a traditional health cure to avoid the high cost of
hospital care. Whereas hospitals insist on having x-ray examinations on patients to get an accurate diagnose although
the cost is very high.

Dear Vita,
Regret is something I’ve dealt with a lot lately. You see, my 35-year old sister died of diabetes
complications three weeks ago on New Year’s Eve. As soon as I found out, I immediately started
thinking of all the things I wished I had done. I started feeling tremendous guilt for all the things I
g hadn’t done and for things I had done. Over the past three weeks, I’ve asked myself over and over
again, “Why didn’t I listen to her more? Why didn’t I understand her more? Why…..why….why….?”
Honestly, for weeks, I have buried myself under in regret, guilt and sorrow.
But you know what I’ve realized? I can’t change the past. No matter what I do, I can’t bring my
sister back. I will never get another chance with her. It’s a waste of my energy to spend time regretting
what I did and didn’t do. I can’t change it.
You know what I can do though? I can learn from it. I can learn from it, and apply my learning to
other people in my life. By learning from my past, I can make sure that I spend time and connect with
those around me. I can make sure I accept and love people unconditionally, especially my 7-year-old
nephew. I can make sure I remember what’s truly important in life.
Cheers,
Fanty

DESCRIPTION
Dear Sir,
We are writing to complain about ads on TV. There are so many ads, especially during our favorites programs.
We think they should be stopped for a number of reasons.
First, ads are a nuisance. They go for a long time and there are so many. Sometimes there seems to be more ads
than programs.
Second, ads are a bad influence on people. They try to encourage people to buy unhealthy food like beer, soft
drink, candy, and chips. And they make people want things they do not really need and cannot afford.
Finally, the people who make ads have too much say in what programs people watch. That is because they
want to pull al their ads on popular programs that a lot of people watch. Some programs which are not so popular get
stopped because they do not attract enough ads, even though those programs may be someone’s favorites.
For those reasons, we think your TV station should stop showing ads. They interrupt programs, are a bad
influence on people, and sometimes put a stop to people’s favorites shows. We are sick of ads, and now we mostly
watch channel 2 (ABC).
Yours faithfully,
Adrian

Dear Simon,
I was disturbed to hear that you have been going steady with your classmate and that it has affected your studies greatly.
I hope you won’t mind if I, as an old friend of yours, give you some advice.
First of all, you must understand the difference between true love and infatuation. Right now you may think that you
have found the perfect dream girl. You think you are deeply in love with her and want to be with her twenty-four hours
a day. But the truth is, you are not really in love, you are merely infatuated. Yes, you feel great, like being on a roller
coaster ride, but it will end faster than you think.
The difference between love and infatuation is easy to discern. Infatuation is based on selfish motivations. Have you
ever thought to yourself. I feel proud because I can boast of my beautiful girlfriend, or I feel happy only when I am with
her? If so, you are merely gratifying yourself.
Real love is an expression of deep appreciation for another person. It is unselfish, and desires to give and care for the
other person. True love is a deep commitment to love the other person whatever the circumstance may be.
As students, our first duty is to do well in our studies. Romance can come later, when we are sufficiently mature in our
judgment and outlook, and have the means to support ourselves. Right now, keep your circle of friends wide. If you
must go dating, go in a group. Do not get entangled in any relationship that will affect your studies.
I am writing this letter in the hope that it would help you to straighten out your thoughts and put your priorities right.
All the best to you!
Your buddy

The largest of the world’s 17 penguin species, emperor penguins stand nearly four feet and
weigh up to 90 pounds. These sea birds never set foot on dry land. (1) An estimated 200,000
breeding pairs live in about 40 penguin colonies scattered along the coasts of Antarctica. (2) Their
waterproofed feathers, flipper-like wings, and streamlined bodies make them excellent swimmers
and divers. On ice they can travel distances up to 50 miles by “tobogganing”—gliding on their
stomachs while pushing with their wings and feet.
(3) Emperor penguins breed during the Antarctic winter in some of the world’s most severe
weather conditions (temperatures of –80 F and winds up to 112 miles per hour). Breeding during
the winter allows chicks to mature in midsummer when food is plentiful. After the female lays a
single egg, the male holds it in a fold of skin near his feet for a two-month incubation period.
During this time he huddles with other males to keep warm. (4) The male moves very little and does
not eat, usually losing up to a third of his body weight. Meanwhile the females go to sea and dive
for fish so that when they return they can feed and care for the newly hatched chicks. After the male
restores his body weight, both parents take turns caring for their young.
The world’s emperor penguin population declined in the last 50 years due to a period of
warming ocean temperatures. Warm water shrinks ice cover and reduces the population of krill—a
small crustacean that is the emperor penguin’s staple food. Today the emperor penguin population
has stabilized, but warming trends could again threaten this magnificent sea bird.

If we can agree that government has some roles to play in our lives, then let's at least
make it a positive one. Consider the benefits of free, fully-subsidized public transportation.
First, it will motivate more people to leave their cars at home. Think of the reduction in
pollution and traffic jams and insurance costs due to accidents. Greener cities, safer cities, more
liveable cities. More room for parks and trees. Think of the money we'll all save by consuming

less gas, spending less frequently on car repairs, and so on. That money will stay in our wallets
and we could then turn around and give the economy a boost by spending it on other consumer
goods or services. More jobs.
Secondly, we must consider the health benefits. We'll all walk a little more. This will
reduce visits to doctors' offices and hospitals because we'll be healthier. We'll have improved
blood pressure, lower stress and possibly a better complexion.
In addition, free transportation will encourage us to enjoy the company of our friends and
family. It will become much more feasible to safely drink another glass of wine at the restaurant
or have that extra beer at the family gathering. We'll avoid the worry of getting behind the wheel
with a blood-alcohol level that's above the legal limit. Fewer accidents, fewer tragedies, lower
costs of policing and reduced court backlogs. The increased public expense in transportation
should pay off in the form of reduced health care costs and a safer society.
Then, think about some of the other social benefits: imagine how much we'll learn from
each other when we share rides instead of sitting in isolation in our cars. Talking to the neighbors
might come back into fashion. More people will meet and talk and maybe even help each other.
Having someone else drive us will also give us more time for reading books and
newspapers. So, park your car and use it for your dream vacation.
No more fumbling for change, just hop on and off the streetcar or bus wherever and
whenever you like. What a great idea, especially for those who live in crowded, polluted cities. It
will renew life on our streets.
So I can't agree more with this proposition. Let's go for it!

2012 is Roland Emmerich’s film which uses the Mayan calendar and other end-of-days
prophecies for their doomsday scenario. It imagines the world coming to an end in 2012.
2012 film brings off a series of wonders. The movie hits its peak early on. It starts
when Cusack drives a limo through the streets of Los Angeles as freeways and skyscrapers
crumble all around him from the sock of a 10.5 earthquake. The preposterous flying sequence
is equally thrilling. The climax occurs aboard the giant ark when an equipment malfunction
almost threatens the entire mission.
Unfortunately, the crucial sequence is not filmed or edited with the requisite clarity. In
2012 film, Emmerich leaves us befuddled as to exactly what is happening to whom. However,
Emmerich’s 2012 deserves credit for offbeat casting. Cusack supplies his trademark hangdog
charm. McCarthy has perhaps his best role ever as Peet’s cocky. Danny Glover lends dignity to
the role of the tormented president. Chiwetel Ejiofor, as the chief scientist, brings a moving
sense of anguish to a stock role. Platt has fun playing the villain of the piece, and Woody
Harrelson also chews the scenery as a bug-eyed radio prophet trying to warn his listeners about
Armageddon.
All in one, 2012’s cinematography, production design and visual effects are awards-
worthy. Music also propels the movie. It presents American idol runner-up, Adam Lambert,
who provides a rousing anthem over the end credits.

The death penalty for serious criminals has become a long discussion among experts. Those
who agree say that the death penalty will scare the criminals off. However, those who disagree say
that the death penalty is inhuman, not an effective way to stop them from doing another crime.
In Switzerland, there is no death penalty. Most people argue that the possibility of making
the wrong decision is always there; although, it is true that spending life behind bars is bad enough.
Every person should have a chance for rehabilitation so that he or she can start all over again his/her
life in a better way.
Those who agree argue that there is no use to give serius criminals another chance to live.
When they get out, they will create a lot of trouble such as blackmailing and killing people. So, who
says that jails will prevent them from being bad guys?
My own opinion is divided. On the one hand, I disagree for the death penalty is against the
human right to live. But on the other hand, whether serious criminals are worthy to live since no one
can guarantee they will never do the bad things in the future.

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages of being Famous Celebrities ?
Famous celebrities are well treated with due respect and courtesy. They live in a world of
kindness, respect, and difference. They are well served and respected wherever they go. People will
do everything they can to please them, simply because they are celebrities
Celebrities earn their living easily. They are paid exorbitantly just for appearing in
ceremonies or pomp. However, they spend them on their extravagant lifestyles.
The common disadvantage happens to celebrities is their loss of privacy. Their personal live
are being watched and encroached by public, The public want to know every single detail about
them. Which sometimes make their lives very miserable.
Once the celebrities become popular, they are desperate to stay there. In order to maintain
their fame, some celebrities will do anything just to appear in the tabloids. They enjoy the publicity.
Then, they always complain that the paparazzi are taking their photographs or are being harassed by
them to attract public sympathy. Conversely, they actually enjoy the media attention
They are unable to distinguish who are their genuine friends among the false ones. Some
people would like to befriend the celebrities because they also wanted to be in the limelight too.
Yet, when the celebrities are in trouble, these friends will leave them as fast as they wanted to
befriend them
Given this situation, I would prefer to live a normal life, going anywhere or do anything,
without being watched or scrutinized

Good morning ladies and gentlemen,
First off all, I would like to thank the organization for giving me the opportunity to say a
few words at this seminar. In this occasion I’d like to speak about abortion. Is abortion one of the
methods of birth control?
To begin with, let me say that abortion is one of the methods of birth control. Let’s see the
fact about the population problem in a country. When a country faces the problem of population
explosion, the government should find method to solve it. But since no method of contraception is
one hundred percent effective and successful, abortion becomes the only way out when prevention
fails.
On the other hand, abortion may cause many negative effects for women’s health. Women
risk their health and lives in bearing the weight of operation and its consequences. The most
common complication is inflammation, interruption of menstrual pattern, infertility, endometriosis,
myoma of the uterus and many other kinds of ovary illness.
So far, abortion becomes a dilemma for countries with large number of citizens. On one
hand, it can control the birth rate but on the other hand it brings terrible consequences especially for
the women’s health.
The story to ‘Kung Fu Panda’ is nothing really new, but it is told so well as to actually pack
an emotional punch. And it never comes off as laughable, which in lesser hands could easily have
happened. Speaking of laughs, there are many to be had here as well. ‘Kung Fu Panda’ works on
just about every level a family movie can.
The cast features Jack Black as Po the Panda. The furious five, the most feared group of
warriors in all of China, consists of Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Mantis (Seth
Roger), Viper (Lucy Liu), and Crane (David Cross). Their master is Shifu (Dustin Hoffman), a fur

ball creature who is a legendary teacher of Kung Fu. Escaped from prison and on high way to claim
the Dragon Scroll, which will make him the all powerful Dragon Warrior, is the good gone bad Tai

‘Kung Fu Panda’ is a damn good time at the movies. This was the movie that Dreamworks
Animation so desperately needed after the disappointing ‘Shrek The Third’. With gorgeous
animation, spectacular action, a great cast and dramatic weight of an Akira Kurosawa film, Kung Fu
Panda is one of the favourite movie of the year.
