INTRODUCTION

Modern poultry farming requires an optimum climate in the houses to achieve good operating results. As a rule,
this is achieved by using a mechanical ventilation system. Important in this respect is the air supply to the
animals and the creation of proper air circulation. The air distribution in the house is strongly influenced by the
type of air supply system. Effective ventilation controls, as integrated in the PL-9200 poultry computer, can
achieve a good air quality at animal level with a low ventilation flow rate. It speaks for itself that good climate
control contributes to the animals' well-being.

The PL-9200 poultry computer enables you to fulfil virtually all your climate control wishes. The poultry
computer has practically all possible ventilation controls which are used in modern poultry farming. The poultry
computer controls the climate in the house in such a way that the correction ratio between temperature and
ventilation is always guaranteed. To ensure that the climate in the house follows the growth of your animals, the
poultry computer has growth curves. By taking the influence of the weather into account, the climate in the
house can be corrected depending on the weather conditions.

A power failure, an excessive temperature variation or an excessive ventilation variation will cause the alarm to
be activated.

Since every situation is different, only the control functions applicable to your specific situation are activated.
This makes the operation of the poultry computer very easy and transparent.

The PL-9200 can be extended with the PL-9200 MODULE communication PCB for communication with I/O and/or
FN-devices.

The poultry computers has a memory chip which saves all settings to ensure that they are retained, even when
the power is down. You will only have to set the date and time again if the power has been down for a couple of
days.

I/O modules and FN devices

I/O module: You can use I/O modules to extend the number of outputs of the PL-9200 poultry computer, via
the ST bus (module bus). The control computer indicates which output must be driven by the PL-9200 poultry
computer. The PL-9200 poultry computer is then set as “FN device”.

FN device: An FN device is a device which autonomously controls a sub-process. The parameters to control the
sub-process are sent to the FN device via a special communication bus (FN BUS) from the control computer. The
control computer monitors the process via this communication loop and makes any necessary corrections.

For a more extensive explanation of the operation of the controls, a description of the error messages,
changing settings etc. please see the user manual of the poultry computer.

Ventilation groups
The PL-9200 climate control has a maximum of 12 ventilation groups divided into:
1x main ventilation group;
1x auxiliary ventilation group;
1x heat exchanger
1x manure belt
8x additional ventilation groups (left, right, front etc.)

Every ventilation group (except the auxiliary ventilation group, the heat exchanger and the manure belt) can be
subdivided into a maximum of 3 ventilation controls. All ventilation controls in a group make use of the same
settings, i.e. settings per ventilation group, but have their own separate inputs and outputs and are controlled
individually.

Main ventilation group

The 1st ventilation control in this group is the main ventilation; this serves as the reference for house
temperature and pressure control compensation. The 2nd and 3rd ventilation controls in this group are only
switched on in support of the first control and they both have their own adjustable initial percentages. All
ventilation controls have an adjustable ventilation capacity (m3/h) which is combined together with the
ventilation capacity of the auxiliary ventilation group and the extraction fan (manure belt) the total ventilation
capacity of the house.

Controls
The poultry computer lets you choose from the following controls:

Ventilation controls
For every control group, the poultry computer has various types of ventilation control to choose from:
● Main ventilation control, with or without measuring fans.
● Main ventilation control with AQC units (automatic control flaps).
● Switching on a second and/or third fan, with or without measuring fans.
● Aux. ventilation control, with or without measuring fans (not possible in combination with heat exchanger).
● Fan control using a step control.
● Duo vent (combination of controlled ventilation and step control).
● Ventilation control with air inlet flaps.
● Ventilation control based on RH.
● Ventilation control based on pressure control.
● Ventilation control based on CO2
● Ventilation control based on wind direction and wind speed
● Interval ventilation (is not possible in combination with a heat exchanger).

Temperature controls
A number of heating control functions are optionally available for every single house:
● House heating.
● Air inlet heating.
● Cooling.
● Humidification.
● Heat exchanger.
● Temperature monitoring

Feed system
One feed system can be installed in every individual house, the feed system can be one of the following types:
● PFB feed weigher (PFB-35 or PFB-70, FN-bus)
● PSW-1(D) (feed system with only one silo weigher, max. 1 silo, FN-bus)
● PFA-9200 (feed computer: feed system with discharge augers, RS-485)
● PFV-9200 (feed computer: feed system with valves, RS-485)
● PFS-16 (feed weigher and mixing computer: feed system with silos, FN-bus)

Animal weighing
Two animal weighing systems of the type PW-2 can be installed (FN bus) in every individual house.

INSTALLATION SETTINGS

ACCESS CODE INSTALLATION SETTINGS

Before being able to set the control functions and the corresponding inputs/outputs, you have to enter a code to
access the installation settings. The standard access code to make changes to the installation settings is 0800. If
no code or the wrong code is entered, you will not be able to change the settings. After entering the correct
code, menu item 9 “Installation” is displayed.

SAVE/RESTORE SETTINGS
When recovering the stored or default settings, the current installer and user settings are overwritten by the
stored or default settings (the old settings will be lost irretrievably). The settings are then saved to EEPROM.
After saving the settings to EEPROM the text is automatically displayed in the
window.

1. default If you press the Enter key after selecting “default”, “default” will automatically change to
“choose” as soon as the default factory settings have been stored in the EEPROM.

2. save All settings, outside the EEPROM,

ALARM KEY
Independent of whether you are in a window or not, you can always press the alarm key. The “Alarm
status” window will then appear to show the cause of the alarm, if known. Press the alarm key again
to return to the original window.

If the alarm relay is de-energized (alarm delay time has lapsed) the cause of the alarm relay de-energization
will be listed. In addition, you can switch the main alarm on and off. When the main alarm is off, the LED in the
alarm key will flash to indicate that the main alarm is off. The LED in the alarm key lights up if there is an alarm
in one of the rooms and/or central controls.

In addition to the cause of the alarm, the control and the control number where the fault occurred will be
displayed. If the fault is an input/output being assigned twice, the control number where the same input/output
has been found to be assigned to a control for the 2nd time will also be listed.

The terminal number to which the alarm relates is listed at “Terminal” (in the adjacent example this is: output
00A02 which has been assigned twice). The terminal number is preceded by the module address on the screen.

Installation errors such as “Output already assigned”, “Incorrect output type”, “Input already
assigned” etc. have to be solved first before putting the system into operation.

The following applies to all controls: no check is made on whether an input is used twice or in
several controls. An exception to this is the water temperature sensors of the heating and the
outside temperature sensor, which must not be applied twice.

INSTALLATION ERROR
If an output has been assigned twice, an installation error will be generated. An exception to this is the cooling
which can be connected to the same relay output as humidification.

To prevent errors repeatedly occurring during installation you have to install the modules first. Then check that
the modules installed are also recognized by the control software of the climate computer (code 0). Only when
all modules react can you start installing the controls, without installation errors occurring repeatedly because
an input or output is missing.

Note!: Since the controls and module detection take place cyclically, it may take several seconds
for a failure message to be cleared from the screen when you change an input/output or
module number.

DEVICE

You can use keys 0..9 to change the name of the device (default PL-9200).
For more information about changing text, see “User manual PL-9200 poultry
computer”.
Device address The address must be a part of a consecutive series of addresses from which
not a single address can be missing (min. address number = 001; max.
address number = 245)
User number You enter the user number of the customer's choice in the line “User
number”. This can be a random number; it is used only to present the house
data (max. user number = 999).
If no user number is entered (user number = 000), the “Device address” is
used as “User number”.
Baud rate Data communication speed. This is the speed at which the data is transferred
between the various devices over the transmission line (cable). Default
setting 57K6.
Master device The master device controls the data transfer between all connected devices in
the same communication loop. If an outside temperature sensor has been
installed, the master device will put the outside temperature on the
communication loop (only the master device can put the outside
temperature on the loop).
Number of addresses in loop Enter the total number of addresses connected to the data communication
loop at ‘Number of addresses in loop’. This number is also the highest
communication address that may occur in the loop. Details (info blocks) are
only requested for these communication addresses.
Communication Data exchange with master device.

No or bad data exchange with master device (during 20 seconds).

Communication error address The communication address of the first device from which the master device
has not received any reaction to a request for data is shown on this line.

Note: If a communication error with the PC-485 occurs, the text PC-485 is
shown on this line.

Delay alarm relay The alarm relay is normally energized. In the event of a fault the relay will be
de-energized after the delay time has elapsed (5 minutes as standard). The
delay time has to ensure that the alarm relay is not de-energized immediately
in the event of a short fault.

Outside temperature The outside temperature can be measured using its own temperature sensor
or it can be received via the communication loop. If you enter 'via
[ communication ], you do not have to enter a sensor number.
Sensor Number of the sensor used to measure the outside temperature

INFO
MOD (MODULE ADDRESS)

ID (MODULE-IDENTIFICATION)
This is the device/module type.

VER (SOFTWARE VERSION)

This is the version number of the PCB control software (module software).

ERROR
Communication errors occurs between the PL-9200 and the module if the
number is unequal to zero (the number is automatically set to zero when
communication is restored again).

COMMUNICATION ERRORS
The total number of communication errors with all modules is shown. You can clear the number by setting the
number to 0.

CALIBRATE SENSORS
The temperature measured is shown behind the sensor number; the correction column (“Corr.”) enables you to
set the temperature difference to the current temperature. The last column (Temp.) shows the corrected
temperature.

The lengths of the cables and the position of the temperature sensor in the room affect the temperature
measured causing it to differ from the actual temperature. Possible temperature differences can be corrected by
adding the difference found to the temperature measured or deducting it from the temperature measured.

ADJUST PULSE INPUTS (MEASURING FANS)

1. Select the option “Adjust 0-10V outputs” from the Module menu and set the “Output value” to Maximum.
2. Select the option “Adjust pulse inputs” from the Module menu.

Also see “Adjusting only one measuring fan / speed indicator” below. When using an AQC flap you have to set a
characteristic number here. This characteristic number depends on the tube diameter and the air volume (see
AQC-G table, page 78).

MEASURING 0-10V INPUTS
This menu option enables you to view the values measured by the inputs.

ADJUST 0-10V OUTPUTS

Manual operation:

No The outputs are sent drive signals by the controls.

Minimum The minimum voltage is driven.
Maximum The maximum voltage is driven.
Stop The stop voltage signal is sent

All 0-10V outputs are sent drive signals at the same time. The outputs are kept in the state last selected
(manual operation: no, minimum or maximum) until you exit the window. 10 seconds after you have exited the
window, the controls resume control of the outputs again. However, if you select the menu option “Adjust
measuring fans” within 10 seconds, the outputs keep the value which has been set and you can adjust the
measuring fans.

ADJUST 230VAC OUTPUTS

The outputs stay in the position that was selected the last (manual mode: no, minimum, maximum or stop
voltage; see also “Adjust 0-10V outputs”) until you exit the window. The controls will resume control of the
output 10 seconds after you have exited the window. However, if you select the menu option “Adjust measuring
fans” within 10 seconds, the output will retain the value of the setting and you can adjust the measuring fans.

TEST INPUT/OUTPUT
You can use the menu option “Test input/output” to apply a voltage or status to an output. In addition, you can
also read out the status of an input or the value measured by it. Approx. 10 seconds after you have exited the
screen the controls resume control of the outputs again.

If you select a flap output with potentiometer feedback, you can choose from the options “open, closed or auto”.
If you choose “auto” the position measured is shown as a percentage in the line under it. In this line, you can
also enter the destination position for the flap.

ADJUSTING ONLY ONE MEASURING FAN / SPEED INDICATOR

If you want to adjust only one measuring fan / speed indicator, you can use menu option “Test input/output”.
Select the relevant output (e.g. output AQC-flap) and enter the maximum voltage (see also Adjust 0-10V
outputs). If you then select menu item “Adjust pulse inputs” within 10 seconds, the output will remain on the
preset value. If you exit the window “Test input/output” or “Adjust pulse inputs” the control will resume control
of the outputs again after approx. 10 seconds.

CLIMATE CONTROLS

MAIN VENTILATION
Step control and AQC-flap are unavailable when “Ventilation control” is set
to flap.
Use the left / right cursor keys ( ) to change the capacity of outputs
1, 2 and/or 3.
Outputs 2 and 3 must be the same type (both relays or both analogue
outputs)
Only if measuring fan 1 has been installed you can install measuring
fans 2 and 3. Measuring fan 3 is installed automatically if measuring
fan 2 is installed.

Do not forget to enter the correct ratio for the module (see page 16).

With the ventilation control you can choose a flap or a fan.

 If you make use of a central exhaust system you have to set a flap here (AQC flap with central exhaust).
 If the ventilation control consists of a fan with a measuring fan and you set an AQC flap, the menu option
AQC flap will not appear on the installer's screen (the flap does not have separate settings then).

AQC FLAP

You set the output for the AQC flap in this screen. You cannot select the
AQC flap if a flap is used for house ventilation.

You can also set the minimum propagation time of the flap here (see also
interval ventilation, page 21). The propagation time is the time that the
AQC flap needs to run open before the ventilation is started.

STEP CONTROL

You can choose step control with or without a controlled group (if the number of outputs of the main ventilation
is 0, you have a step control without a controlled group). If you select step control with a controlled group the
controlled group may also consist of a 2nd or 3rd fan control.

The capacity of the controlled ventilation group must be at least 20% greater than the capacity
of the largest ventilation group which can be fully switched on additionally by the step control.

Proportional group
Optimal: The “optimal” control uses little energy and the fans produce less noise. This control is similar to the
“standard” control that used to be applied. Since the fans activate and deactivate earlier than with “maximal”
control, “optimal” control does not enable fans with self-closing butterfly valves that open in response to
overpressure to be applied. Since the overpressure is too low after activating an additional fan (the ventilation
per fan will drop too far) the flap will close again, causing the system to continually repeat this cycle.
Maximal: The controlled group is always first driven to 100% and then the next step (group) is activated. Since
the overpressure after activating additional fans is high enough, “maximal” control here enables fans with self-
closing butterfly valves that open in response to overpressure to be applied.

PRC step control

In addition to the step control where the steps are controlled directly by the poultry computer, you can also
choose an external PRC step control. The 0-10V output of the step control is connected to the PRC step control
then. Depending on the “Half step” setting, you have to set the PRC to Mode F (with full steps) or Mode G
(with half steps). Set the minimum value of the 0-10V output to 02.0 V and the maximum to 10.0 V.
Maximum number of outputs without half step: 15. Maximum number of outputs if half step: 8

Sensors main ventilation

You can set several temperature sensors for the house temperature; the poultry computer will then control on
the basis of the average value of these sensors. The values of faulty sensors are not used to calculate the
average temperature.

Fan stop 0.5ºC STOP

If fan stop is activated, the fan will stop when the temperature TEMPERATURE
measured falls below the calculated house temperature setting MINIMUM

minus the stop temperature setting + 0.5ºC (the hysteresis). The

fan will switch on again when the temperature rises above the
hysteresis. The ventilation alarm is switched off when the fan stops.
CALC. HOUSE TEMP. SETTING

Calculated house temperature setting= adjusted house temperature + temperature setting main ventilation.

CENTRAL VENTILATION
Central ventilation Enter here the number of the central control to which the departmental ventilation must be
passed on. You can choose between a central exhaust system or a central flap.
Influence room A deviating influence on the central exhaust can be set here. E.g. if a room is 4x as big as
another room, 4.0 is entered here.

INTERVAL VENTILATION
Interval ventilation is applied if the minimum ventilation does not allow the level to be reduced enough.
A solution may be:
A) Splitting up a controlled group
B) Installing an AQC unit
C) Applying interval ventilation.

In interval ventilation, the required minimum ventilation is achieved by driving the fan in pulse mode
(pulse/pause time).

In addition to the period for the on-time of the fans, you can also set the
running time of the flaps in this screen.

The position and running time of the flaps must be determined empirically;
use a smoke generator to determine the air flow and then measure the
time that the flaps need to close (round this time up amply).

The longest flap running time is used for activating the fans during interval
ventilation.

Remark: You cannot use interval ventilation in combination with a heat exchanger, the option “Interval
ventilation” is cancelled as soon as you set a heat exchanger.

Example: Interval ventilation for a house with 40,000 broilers.

Total maximum ventilation capacity 352,000 m3/h

Desired minimum ventilation 0.5 % (0.5%=1,760 m3/h)
Capacity of 1st fan 32,000 m3/h
Target value for main ventilation during interval 6% (6%=21,120 m3/h)
Minimum number of interval periods per hour 2

On-time for interval ventilation = (1760/21120)*3600/2 = 150 seconds (2 minutes and 30 seconds). I.e.
1,760m3/h of air is displaced in 2x150 seconds.

Set 5% for “Interval ventilation till” (user setting). This is 1% difference to the installer setting of 6% and it also
represents the hysteresis of the control (in line with the above example).

1st interval period 2nd interval period

ATTENTION!
For interval ventilation adjust the “Alarm relay delay” time to the “On time” of
the interval ventilation. If the “On time” of the interval ventilation is shorter than the “Alarm relay
delay” time you will not get an alarm if the fan is not running during interval ventilation.

AUXILIARY VENTILATION

In addition to the inputs and outputs for the auxiliary ventilation control,
you can also assign a measuring fan to the auxiliary ventilation control.
Auxiliary ventilation control is apply to e.g. air washers, manure conveyor

If the Reduction option has not been activated, the heat exchanger will not be controlled down when
ventilation demand increases. If the Reduction option is active, you can have the reduction compensated by
the current outside temperature. You can only activate the “Reduction” if the main ventilation group contains a
controlled ventilation group.

The compensation function serves to compensate the reduction depending on the difference between the preset
house temperature and the prevailing outside temperature. The greater the difference between the preset
(corrected) house temperature and the current outside temperature, the smaller the correction. As standard,
the difference is set to -5.0°C. If the difference is greater than -5.0°C, the correction will be 0%. The maximum
correction is limited by the user setting “Reduce until”.

There are three possible situations for the total available ventilation capacity:
1. heat exchanger is switched off (“Reduce until” = 0%)
the available capacity = the capacity of the fans.
2. the heat exchanger is controlled down to the preset value “Reduce until”.
the available capacity = the capacity of the fans + the minimum capacity of the heat exchanger (as set at
“Reduce until”)
3. the heat exchanger is not controlled down (“Reduction” option not activated)
the available capacity = the capacity of the fans + the maximum capacity of the heat exchanger (as set at
“Reduce until”)

* If you have an IFL-10-R/M applied, please use the relay output of the IFL-10-R/M to switch the frequency
convertor on/off.

Manual control: A switch (make-contact) enables you to switch the heat exchanger to “Manual control” mode.
Enter “yes” at “External input” and enter the corresponding input at “Input”. As soon as the input is closed, the
heat exchanger ventilation capacity is switched to the ventilation percentage set at “Manual control”.

For an optimum air spread you can use circulation fans, enter “yes” behind "Circulation fans" and fill in the
corresponding output behind “Output”.

● The ventilation capacity of both fans must be equally high.

● Every fan (or group of fans) must have its own frequency converter.
● The 0-10V signal must be galvanically isolated from the rest of the electrical system.
● You can connect both frequency converters to the same 0-10V output, but then you will have to adjust the
frequency converters so that both fans displace the same amount of air.
● If the frequency converter does not have automatic ‘sleep mode’, you can use the relay output to switch the
frequency converters on/off.
● Set stop voltage of the main ventilation group to 0V (0V = frequency converters off).

Difference between room temperature and Difference between room temperature and
outside temperature is bigger than 5.0°C. outside temperature is less than 5.0°C (if
reduction compensation is active).

As the ventilation demand increases, the control cycle with a heat exchanger goes through four phases:
1. Increase: only the heat exchanger controls the ventilation demand, the fans are off.
2. Mixing stage: heat exchanger at maximum capacity, the fans control the extra demand (this phase
continues to be active until the fans deliver the same capacity as the heat exchanger).
3. Reduction: the heat exchanger is controlled down, the fans compensate and control extra demand (this
phase is only reached if Reduction has been activated).
4. Ventilation: the fans control the demand, the heat exchanger is running at minimum capacity (as set at
“Reduce until”, i.e. in this event 25%)).
Attention! If the outdoor sensor is faulty, “Reduction” will not be active.

MANURE BELT
Manure belt aeration can be with or without a heat exchanger. After-heating can also be applied. Both the intake
and extraction fans can be fitted with measuring fans.

The intake and extraction fans are controlled separately if a heat exchanger is applied. A temperature sensor
must be installed in the intake duct. The intake fan is controlled based on the temperature measurements and
the temperature setting.

The extraction fan is part of the minimum ventilation and its capacity is usually always less than the minimum
ventilation that is necessary for the animals present and, under normal conditions, it always runs at 100%.
However, the extraction ventilation must be reduced as soon as outdoor temperatures are high enough. The
reason for this is that the air would be heated up unnecessarily and this heated air would be blown into the
house, resulting in an unnecessary increase in ventilation.

Output: Enter the output here to which the intake fan is connected. Use the left / right cursor keys ( ) to
set the capacity of the intake fan. The ventilation capacity is only used in order to record the current ventilation
capacity (logging data).

Measuring fan: The measuring fans are used to measure the actual intake capacity. Place the measuring fan at
a distance from the intake fan where you know the air flow in the channel will be homogeneous. Do not forget to
enter the channel (see also screen 9213: “Adjust pulse inputs”).

Sensor: Enter the temperature sensor that is used to control the intake fan (TIntake) here. If you have installed a
heater block, then enter the same sensor number at the heater block.

Propagation time: This is the time that elapses between the moment when a control signal is sent to the
frequency converter and the time before the desired effect of this control signal is achieved. E.g.: if the intake
fan has hoses instead of pipes, the frequency converter must not increase the capacity too fast as this would
make the hoses come loose. This may be prevented by programming the frequency converter with a “ramp up”
time. However, the disadvantage of this is that the PL-9200 control system will continually overshoot or
undershoot because the PL-9200 control cycle acts too fast. This can be prevented by entering the frequency
converter “ramp up” time for the "propagation time" for the PL-9200.

Reduction: If you set Reduction to “Yes”, the user has the possibility to increase or decrease the maximum
ventilation (e.g. it may be better to have the manure belt aeration run faster or slower during a specific part of
the day) for a period to be set by the user.

EXTRACTION FAN
You can also blow “fresh” outside air over the manure belt and heat the outside air using a heat exchanger, but
you will have to install an extraction fan then. The exhaust ventilation then becomes a part of the minimum
ventilation. The capacity of the extraction fan is usually always lower than the minimum ventilation that is
necessary for the animals present. Under normal conditions, the extraction fan always runs at 100%. However,
the extraction ventilation must be reduced as soon as outdoor temperatures become too high, since hot air
would be blown into the house for no good reason. To prevent “cold air” from being blown over the manure belt
in cold periods (or when there are young animals in the house), we recommend installing a heater block
downstream of the heat exchanger.

Output: Enter the output here to which the extraction fan is connected. Use the left / right cursor keys ( )
to adjust the capacity of the extraction fan. Since the ventilation capacity of the extraction fan is automatically
added to the total ventilation capacity of the house, it is important that you set the right value here.

Measuring fan: The measuring fans are used to measure the actual extraction ventilation (capacity). Position
the measuring fan on the front side of the heat exchanger. Do not forget to enter the channel (see also screen
9213: “Adjust pulse inputs”).

Sensor: Enter the temperature sensor that is used to measure the outside temperature (TExtraction = TOutside)
here, see also screen 91 “Installation device”.

Hysteresis: Maximum permissible difference in temperature measured without the output being adjusted.

Reduction: Reduction is used to prevent too much cold air being drawn into the house when the house
temperature is low. The reduction limits the maximum ventilation of the extraction fan (the minimum ventilation
of the house is decreased).

HEATER BLOCK

The heater block can be placed in

the intake duct or downstream of
the heat exchanger.

Output proportional/”on/off”: If heating with analogue control is connected, then enter a 0-10V output at
“Output proportional” (A). For switched heating, enter a relay or a digital output at “Output on/off” (B).
If the heating requires both a controlled and a switched output, enter an output number at both outputs.

Sensor: Position the sensor that is used for heater block control downstream of the heater block. Preferably use
the same sensor that is also used for intake fan control.

Hysteresis: Maximum permissible difference in temperature measured without the output being adjusted.

Minimum heating (proportional heating)

The controlled heating can be with or without "Minimum heating". When "Minimum heating" is active, the
"minimum" voltage is applied if the temperature measured is higher than the temperature setting. If "Minimum
heating" is off, 0V is applied if the temperature measured exceeds the temperature setting + Hysteresis (default
0.5°C). If the house is “off”, 0V is applied as well.

Mixing valve: To prevent the heating system (heater block) control continually overshooting or
undershooting, the heating can now be set as an integrating control by setting the
“mixing valve” setting to “yes”. This means that the connected heating boiler will work
as if it were a 0-10V mixing valve.
Integration time: Speed at which the control system reacts to a temperature change.
Integration factor: The integration factor is one of the determining elements for the mixing valve correction
percentage. Correction = (calculated heater temperature - current heater
temperature)* integration factor.

Intake fan, minimum ventilation: Here you set the minimum ventilation which must be reached in order for
the heater block to be activated; if the actual ventilation is lower than this percentage, the heater block is off. If
you have also installed a recirculation heater, the heater block can also be activated earlier. The difference
between the calculated ventilation of the intake fan and the minimum ventilation is then supplied by the
recirculation heater.

RECIRCULATION HEATER
If you use the recirculation heater in combination with a heat exchanger, there must be some form of
interaction between the recirculation heater and the heat exchanger flaps. If the recirculation heater flap is
opened further, the heat exchanger flap must be closed further (and vice versa).

You can install maximum 8 extra ventilation groups. Every ventilation group can be subdivided into a maximum
of 3 separate ventilation controls. All ventilation controls in a group make use of the same settings, but have
their own separate inputs and outputs and are controlled individually. You can choose a flap with a feedback
potentiometer (output type D or G) or without a feedback potentiometer (output type A). The flaps can control
on the basis of temperature, ventilation, pressure or under pressure; also see Pressure control, page 33.

Minimum heating (proportional heating)

The controlled heating system can be configured with or without “Minimum heating”. If “Minimum heating” is
activated, the “minimum” voltage is applied to the output when the current temperature exceeds the
temperature setting. When “Minimum heating” is NOT activated, the output is driven to 0V as soon as the
current temperature exceeds the temperature setting + hysteresis (default 0.5°C). If the house in “not in use”
the output is also driven to 0V (although “Minimum heating” is active).

HEAT REQUEST
If the heat request has to be controlled by a central heating group, enter the number of the central heating
group to which the heat request has to be transferred to. For example, you can transfer the heat request to a
boiler control and to a mixing valve control.

You can use the heat request correction to compensate the heat loss occurring as a result of transmission and
ventilation so that the preset temperature will still be reached. The correction depends on the difference
between the temperature setting + hysteresis and the temperature measured.

FLOOR HEATING
The floor heating is an integrating control; depending
on the temperature difference, the flap is opened or

Limit supply (floor heating)

Sensor: Sensor that measures the water temperature of the floor heating.
Hysteresis: Maximum permissible difference from the water temperature measured at which the floor heating
control is not adjusted (asymmetric, only apply to upper limit).

2-STAGE HEATING

A two-stage heating starts up at 50% of its heating capacity in its first

stage. This decreased capacity is sufficient in order to maintain a
comfortable room temperature if the difference between the “2-stage
temperature” measured and the room temperature setting is too small. If
the temperature drops suddenly, the heating will adjust itself automatically
and the second phase is started (full capacity). Applying this two-stage
control enables you to minimise temperature fluctuations in the room.

2-stage heating: If you wish to use two-stage heating, enter “Yes” at “2-stage heating”.
Hysteresis: Maximum permissible difference in temperature measured without the current heating
performance being corrected.
Number of controls: Enter the number of two-stage controls that you wish to apply.
Sensor: Enter the sensor number which the corresponding two-stage heating uses.
50%: Relay output that is energized if the heating is to run at 50% of its capacity.
100%: Relay output which is energized if the heating has to run at full capacity (both relay
outputs, 50% and 100%, are now energized).

CENTRAL HEATING

The central heating can control on the basis of the outside temperature measured (heating curve) or on the
basis of the heat request from the rooms. The heat request is passed on to the CH group set via the
communication loop. For more information about “heat demand”, see “User manual PL-9200 poultry computer”.

Number: Every central heating must be provided with a unique identification number. You can set which
central heating should control the heat demand in the specific room (the room passes its heat
demand on to this control).
Mixing valve: If you enter “yes”, you will have to use a type A output.

Output 1, 2: If you use a central heating, you must enter an output at “Output 1”.
If the central heating consists of two central heating
ON boilers, you have to enter a relay (B) or a digital output
(C) both at “Output 1” and at “Output 2”. The second
-5,0°C +5,0°C central heating boiler is switched on if the difference
OFF
between the required water temperature and the water
temperature measured exceeds –5.0 ºC. The central
REQUIRED
BOILER 2 ON WATER TEMPERATURE heating boilers switch off again if the water
BOILER 1 ON
temperature exceeds the required water temperature
by more than 5.0 ºC.
Sensor: The sensor number must also be unique for the central heating, i.e. the temperature sensor
must not be used as a temperature input for another control.

You can use keys 0..9 to change the name of the central heating.
For more information about changing text, see “User manual PL-9200 poultry computer”.

OPTIONS CENTRAL HEATING
Pump The circulation pump ensures that the water flows to the radiators via the pipes so that the
radiators can emit their heat to the room. The water cools down in the process and returns to
the boiler, where it is heated again. When the preset temperature is reached, the boiler
deactivates so that no more heat is passed on to the boiler water. If there is no heat request in
the meantime, the circulation pump will be switched off after the preset lag time (default 15
min.). If the circulation pump is not running at the preset “From” time, the circulation pump will
still be switched on during the preset lag time to avoid the pump from getting stuck.

Output If you wish to use circulation pump control, enter an output number at “Output”.

Start Time when the (circulation) pump is activated if the pump is not already running (the lag time is
started).
Off delay After the boiler has switched off, the circulation pump will not be switched off until the preset
“Off dalay” time (default 15 min.) has elapsed
External For example, if you wish to use an external thermostat, enter “yes” at “External heat demand”.
heat demand Also enter the input to which the thermostat is connected.

Mixing valve
Cycle time Depending on the construction and length of the pipes, it may take some time for the effect of
the central heating to be felt in the house. This explains why the central heating is not active
continuously but cycle operation is applied. Cycle times are used to set how long the climate
control system should wait before adjusting the central heating power (mixing valve). The
default setting for this time is 060 seconds (max. 999 sec.).
Correction Speed at which the mixing valve reacts to major temperature differences. The correction
depends on the difference between the temperature setting and the temperature measured.

Central heating 2 is set in accordance with central heating 1.

COOLING

This window enables you to install a cooling system with the relevant sensors. The temperature to which the
cooling operation is controlled is the average of the sensors which have been set. If a terminal number “A” is
entered at the controlled output, the climate control will assume that the cooling system consists of a flap
control. If a terminal number “B” or “C” is entered at the controlled output, the climate control will assume that
the cooling system consists of a modulating control.
Cooling and humidification can be assigned to the same output (relay or digital output).

Note!: If an RH control is installed in the house, the cooling system will automatically control on the basis of RH
too. If the cooling system should not be switched off because the RH is too high, you set the RH at
100% in the user’s settings.

You can use keys 0..9 to change the name of the cooling.
For more information about changing text, see “User manual PL-9200 poultry computer”.

OPTIONS

always
slave

Hysteresis
The hysteresis is to prevent the cooling from responding to slight changes in temperature (switching on or off,
control actions).

Cycle time
In the event of modulating cooling you can set the cycle time in this screen. The cycle time is the time between
the start of a control signal for the cooling and the start of the next control signal for the cooling. The pause
time between two control signals depends on the calculated cooling percentage. (see also page 76,
“Humidification”).

Active at interval ventilation

Always: cooling is controlled based on temperature, also during interval ventilation.
Slave: If the cooling is “active”, it will only be “active” during the “pulse” period of the interval ventilation; it
is “not active” in the “pause” period.

Reduction
You can use the reduction to prevent too much cold air being drawn into the house when the outside
temperature is low and the current house temperature is higher than the house temperature setting. The
reduction delimits the current cooling (see User Manual PL-9200).

Cooling 2 to 4 are set in accordance with cooling 1.

MISCELLANEOUS

PRESSURE CONTROL

Maintaining a constant under pressure creates a uniform incoming air flow pattern (this prevents an air drop
immediately downstream of the inlet flaps). This creates a uniform temperature on the entire house surface.

Characteristics:
● Automatic adjustment of the pressure setting to the outside temperature is possible, see the user manual of
the PL-9200 climate computer.
● Any temperature differences in the house are considered when determining the flap positions.
● The pressure control will be instantaneously switched-off if a ventilation alarm occurs at the main
ventilation control.
● The pressure control can be provided with an external input so that the pressure control can be switched off
using an external breaker contact, e.g. if the hatches to the open-air runs are open.
● If a pressure alarm occurs the pressure control will be delayed switch-off (delay time = 5x pressure
integration time).
You can set the measuring range using the minimum and maximum pressures.
Integration time: Speed at which the controls react to a major change in pressure (time).
Integration factor Speed at which the controls react to a major change in pressure (amplitude).
Maximum step: The maximum adjustment of the flap position, the correction of the flap
position, must never be higher than the value set here.
Hysteresis: The hysteresis has to prevent the control from “shuddering” in reaction to the
slightest pressure change.
Max. influence temperature The flap position calculated on the basis of pressure can possibly be corrected
on the basis of the temperature differences inside the house.
Correction on the basis of temperature = (max. temperature influence *
(ΔTflap – ΔThouse)) / flap bandwidth
However, the correction can never be higher than the value set under “Max.
temperature influence”.
Compensation pressure
Start outside temperature absolute: the current outside temperature is taken as the starting point for
the pressure compensation.
relative: the relative temperature difference between the actual temperature
and the house temperature setting is taken as the starting point for the
pressure compensation.
External input

To pressure control You can, for example, connect the breaker contact of a limit switch that
detects whether the hatches to the open-air runs are open to the external
input. As soon as the hatches are open, the pressure control is switched off
and the inlet flaps, that are controlled on the basis of pressure, are
switched over to temperature-based control.

RH (HUMIDIFICATION)
The RH settings also apply to the
cooling function. As soon as you
activate the RH option, the text
“Maximum RH” and “Current RH”
will be displayed in the cooling user
interface screen.
The “Humidification” function is
only active if you set “RH” to “yes”,
enter an RH sensor and enter a
relay or digital output (type B or C)
behind “Humidification output”.

Cooling and humidification can be assigned to the same on/off output (relay or digital output). You can choose
between relative or absolute compensation; for more information about the RH compensation see “User manual
PL-9200 poultry computer”
At “RH-compensation” you can choose between relative and absolute, for more information about the RH
compensation see the user manual of the PL-9200 climate computer.
Cooling 1 and humidification can be assigned to the same output (relay or digital output).

Cycle time (Duty cycle = “yes”)

In the event of modulating humidification control you can set the cycle time in this screen. The cycle time is the
time between the start of a control signal for the cooling and the start of the next control signal for the
humidification control. The pause time between two control signals depends on the calculated humidification
percentage.

RH OUTSIDE AIR

The RH of the outside air can be used in combination with the RH of the
house to compensate the house temperature and house ventilation
depending on the difference in relative humidity between the outside air
and the air in the house. For further information see “User Manual:
Climate control compensations => RH”.

You can choose from a local sensor or via communication. Only the main
device can put the RH outside value on the communication loop.

CO2-CONTROL

You can set the measuring range using the minimum and maximum CO2.
You can choose between relative or absolute compensation; for more
information about CO2 compensation see “User manual PL-9200 poultry
computer”.

Before cleaning the room, remove the RH-sensor and CO2 sensor and
screw the protection cap onto the extension cables.

METEO

A meteo station enables the ventilation groups to be controlled on the basis of wind speed and wind direction, in
addition to temperature and/or pressure-based control.

Enter "yes" if a meteo station has been installed. If the poultry computer is not a master station the meteo data
can also be received via the communication loop. In this event do not enter "yes", but set “communication”.
This will also allow you to correct the wind direction (in 1° steps) depending on the location of the animal house.

Enter "000" for this on the master station. For all other houses enter
Master station

the geographic location of the house relative to the master station
house (in degrees).

The figure on the left side shows an example of a random configuration

of houses with the accompanying geographic locations relative to the
master station house.

=> Meteo”.

You can set the wind direction by which each individual ventilation group must be corrected. Enter “none” if you
do not require any wind correction.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL

For the temperature control you can choose between “heating”, “cooling” and “delta T”. You can install a
maximum of 2 “Temperature controls”. You can use the “delta T” (ΔT) control for various purposes, for example
to control a recirculation fan. You should set at least two sensors. The output is controlled based on the highest
and lowest temperature (and the temperature difference set by the user).

You can choose between a relative temperature setting and an absolute temperature setting, for more
information absolute relative and absolute temperature settings see “User manual PL-9200 poultry computer”.

“Maximum temperature” is followed by the upper temperature limit for the control. The user cannot set a higher
temperature at “Temperature x” (screens 143 to 146) than the value set here. The default value for this setting
is 40.0 °C.

You can use keys 0..9 to change the name of the temperature control.
For more information about changing text, see “User manual PL-9200 poultry computer”.

rooms with AQC With this type of central exhaust the house with the highest ventilation
request (flap position) determines how the central fan is driven. The
measuring fans are used to feed back the ventilation measured and
driven, so that the right amount of ventilation takes place in every
house.

rooms average With this type of central exhaust the central fan is driven on the basis of
the average ventilation requirement in the houses (houses without
measuring fans). Relative to the required ventilation in the house, the
average is too high for the one house and too low for the other house.
That is why this method is not recommended.
Number: Every central exhaust system must be given a unique identification number. You can specify
which central exhaust system should control the ventilation in the house for each specific
house (the house transfers the ventilation requirement to this control).
Measuring fan: If you want to use a measuring fan with the central exhaust, e.g. to eliminate the influences
of the wind, you have to enter "Yes" at "Measuring fan present". Enter the terminal number
to which the measuring fan is connected at “Measuring fan input”.
Cycle time: Depending on the construction and the length of the central air channel it may take some
time for the effect of the central exhaust to be noticed in a house. That is why the central
exhaust is not driven continuously but in cycles. The cycle time can be used to specify how
long the climate computer has to wait before the central exhaust (fan or frequency drive) is
adjusted. As standard, this time is set to 120 seconds (max. 999 seconds).
Optimal flap Using the average ventilation request and the optimum flap opening setting, a new optimum
position: flap opening is calculated. Depending on the difference between the flap opening of the
house with the highest request and the optimum flap opening calculated, the fan is driven
more or less.
Step control: Press numerical key 1 to install the step control. For further information about the step
control see “Step control” page 20.

FEED SYSTEM

You can select a “PFB-35/70”, “PSW-1(-D)”, “PFA-9200”, “PFV-9200” or a “PFS-16” for the feed system.
The setting “Feed mixture curve” doesn’t appears when you install a dosage timer in combination with a feed
weigher or feed computer.
You can install a maximum of 2 silo weighers. You CANNOT use the silo weighers to set a FEED MIXTURE nor
to change it.
The PFB feed weigher, PSW-1 silo weigher and the PFS-16 feed weigher are FN devices and must be
connected to the FN bus. The PFM-9200, PFA-9200 and PFV-9200 and PFA-9200 feed computers are
connected to the RS-485 bus.

Attenttion! ● When the PFB feed weigher is connected directly to the FN bus of the PL-9200, a 24Vac
power transformer must be used to power the PFB feed weigher with 24Vac.
● Every dosage timer connected to the PFM-9200 and PFA-9200 feed computer must have its
own unique identification number.
● Every animal group on the PFV-9200 that is set to communication must have its own unique
identification number.

FEED SYSTEM = PFB-35/70 OR PFS-16

If a PFB-35/70 feed weigher or PFS-16 feed weighing and mixing computer is driven by the PL-9200 poultry
computer, select feed weigher type and enter the address of the feed weigher. Set the number of silos under
“Number of silos”. PFB-35/70 software version 1.14 or higher is required. PFS-16 software version
1.36 or higher is required.

Number of silos

1 The silo is connected to the “Auger” relay output of the PFB feed weigher.
2 or more The silos are connected to a DSR module. The DSR module is connected to the module
output of the PFB feed weigher. A maximum of 16 silos can be connected.

In addition to the silo number, enter the relay output number to which the relevant silo is connected in the
screen above.

FEED SYSTEM = PFA-9200

In this situation, the feed system settings (menu option 2) except the feed mixture are copied from the PFM-
9200 / PFA-9200 feed computer via the communication loop. The PFM-9200 / PFA-9200 feed computer in turn
takes over the feed mixture and dosage timer settings from the PL-9200, see also “Feed timer” page 49. There
can be several PFM-9200 / PFA-9200 feed computers in the loop, but every dosage timer connected to the PFM-
9200 / PFA-9200 feed computer must have its own unique identification number. PFA-9200 software version
1.46 or higher is required.

FEED SYSTEM = PFV-9200

Only the animal data of the PL-9200 is copied by the PFV-9200 feed computer via the communication loop in
this situation. Give all animal groups unique identification numbers for this procedure.
Feedback is via a counter input. For one animal group, assign one counter to the PFV-9200 and for two animal
groups assign two counters to the PFV-9200.

The silo numbers, silo contents, feed mixture, etc., are all assigned on the PFV-9200.

Address silo weigher: Use
dipswitch S1 to set the correct FN
device address (1..31) on the PSW-
1(D). Enter the preset silo weigher
address in this screen.

Number of load cell inputs: See enclosure PSW-1(D).

Output minimum silo contents: You can set the output for the “minimum silo contents” indication in this line.
This output is activated if the silo contents drop to below the preset level (user setting). Only change this setting
in consultation with the user!

Calibration method:
1. Sensitivity: You make use of the sensitivity xxmV/V and capacity stated on the load cells.
2. Weight: You do not know the sensitivity (xx mV/V) and/or capacity of the load cell in question. Use the
weight-based “Calibration method”.

Calibration method = Sensitivity

In this method, the silo characteristic is determined by the capacity and sensitivity of the load cell. The only
thing you have to do is determine the zero point (i.e. the “empty weight”) of the silo.

When using the sensitivity-based calibration method, if

the silo weigher has never been calibrated before, you

You can have the silo filled after calibrating the silo weigher.

Input: The input number of the PSW-1(D) (1 = “LOADCELL 1”, 2 = “LOADCELL 2” etc.) is stated under Input, in
accordance with the “Number of load cell inputs” from screen 9321.

Measure.: The current ADC measurement values of the inputs are listed under Measure.

Tare: The values under “Tare” are entered automatically by the calibration process. Should these values be lost
for any reason, e.g. because the PL-9200 poultry computer has broken down, you can enter this value again. In
this case you do not have to RECALIBRATE the silo weigher. However, if you REPLACE the PSW-1 silo
weigher or a load cell, YOU MUST RECALIBRATE.
After calibrating the silo weigher it is important that you write down these values on the “hardware form”.

Sensitivity: 1 If several load cells are connected to one input, adjust the sensitivity (mV/V) of that input to the
number of load cells.
Example: Two load cells with 3mV/V sensitivity are connected to the input of “LOADCELL 1”: set the
“Sensitivity ” to “1.5mV/V” in (“3mV/V” / 2 = “1.5mV/V”) on the PL-9200 poultry computer.

Gross silo contents: Uncorrected silo contents.

Calibration method = Weight

Gross silo content: Uncorrected silo contents.

User correction: Note! Whenever you change the “Zeroing silo” setting, the net silo contents are determined
again. If you zero the silo contents by accident, you can still change the “User correction” value by hand, so that
the correct silo contents are displayed.

After filling make sure that the silo contents are equal to the details provided by your feed supplier

Net silo contents: Corrected silo contents (gross silo contents after deducting “User correction”).

Options

The current silo contents is set on the RS-485 communication loop. The
“Silo info via communication” number is used as data identification
number.

Bulk switch
If a bulk switch is installed, the PL-9200 poultry computer knows that “bulking” takes place. Install the “Bulk
switch” before the silo filling pipe. If no bulk switch is installed, the PL-9200 poultry computer will detect
“bulking” due to a fast increase in silo contents.

Note:
If the silo is filled by an auger, the input and output augers may have roughly the same capacity. The PL-9200
cannot detect an increase in the silo contents then. If you install a “bulk switch”, you enable the poultry
computer to take this situation into account. Connect an auxiliary contact of the magnetic switch, used to switch
the filling auger (input auger) On/Off, to the “bulk” input of the PL-9200 poultry computer.

ANIMAL WEIGHING

A maximum of two scales can be connected to the PW-2.

Scale . : Enter “yes” for “scale . ” if you want to install the animal weighing system. Before installing
weighing scale 2, you MUST first install weighing scale 1.

Weighing during: Here you can enter whether you wish to perform a measurement while the animals step up
onto the platform or when they step down from the weigher. “Step up” will give better measurements for slower
animals (hens for slaughter etc.) as stepping up tends to take more time than stepping down from the weigher.
“Step down” is a good option for young animals, as they are faster and more lively (PW-2 version 1.12 or higher
is required).

Scale input: The input number of weighing scale 1 is fixed and cannot be changed. You can only change the
input number of weighing scale 2 from 2 to 1. Set the input number of weighing scale 2 to 1 to weigh two
groups of animals with one weighing scale e.g. to weigh roosters and hens using one weighing scale. You can
register the weights of both groups of animals separately by setting separate standard weights for both groups
of animals.

Mounting height scale: Enter the distance between the WDH suspension point and the bottom face of the
scale platform as the mounting height. If a WDP-50 poultry weigher is used instead of a WDH-50 or WDH-100,
enter 0.0m as the mounting height.

ATTENTION! The PW-2 animal weigher is an FN device; therefore the PW-2 must be connected to the
FN485 communication loop.

You can use keys 0..9 to change the name of the weighing scale.
For more information about changing text, see “User manual PL-9200 poultry computer”.

ADJUST ANIMAL WEIGHING SCALE

Calibrate

Tare
This screen is used to store the empty weight of the scale. This means that this screen must only be selected
when the scale is empty (without animals). Then change the “Adjust” setting to “Tare”. After taring, the flag is
automatically returned to “Ready”.

Calibrate
When calibrating the weighing scale, the deviation of the weighing scale is determined by making a comparison
with a reference weight. The differences are recorded in the correction value.
When processing the measured values, the correction value is applied to the measured value in order to obtain
an accurate result. The calibration enables you to determine whether the measuring instrument still complies

with its specifications. To ensure a correct adjustment operation, the reference weight has to be in keeping with
the preset reference weight. No calibration is 100% accurate, so bear in mind the measuring inaccuracy.

1. Tare the weighing scale (without weight or animals on the weighing scale) before calibrating it.
2. Place a known weight on the scale.
3. Enter the proper weight.
4. Change the “Adjust” setting to “Calibrate”

After changing the setting:

1. The calibration correction is recalculated and displayed.
2. The current weight is re-measured and recalculated (the corrected weight is now shown on the display).
3. The “Calibrate” setting changes to “Ready”.

You must keep to the order specified above. If you do not follow this order there will be deviations in the
measurements.

If anything has gone wrong while calibrating, remove the weights and set the correction to 0.00%; taring will
then automatically be repeated. You can now recalibrate the weighing scale.

Weighing scale 2 is set in accordance with weighing scale 1.

Input

Communication
*The choice "PFM-9200" is no longer supported.

This screen enables you to set the input number for the counter (the default setting for counter 1 = water
counter and for counter 2 = feed counter). You do not have to set an input number or multiplication factor if you
choose “PFB-35 water”, “PFB-35 feed” , “PFM-9200” or “PSW-1”. The counter readings are received via the
communication loop.
Note! Counters 7 to 12 are “default counters”. For counters 7 to 12 you can only choose: no, water counter,
feed counter or miscellaneous. You CANNOT assign counters 7 to 12 to a dosage timer.

FACTOR
Since, for example, 1 counter pulse is not always equal to 1 litre on all water counters, you can set a
multiplication factor here (1 pulse = xxx.xx litres). E.g. 1 pulse per 10 litres = 010.00

COUNTER IN GROUP
If you have several groups of animals you can assign the counter to “Animal group 1”, “Animal group 2” or
“Both groups”. If the counter is assigned to “Both groups”, the counter reading is not considered in any animal
group. You can change the “Animal group 1” and “Animal group 2” name in screen number 936 (Info Animal
data).
ATTENTION! If you select “Both groups” the total number of animals will be equal to the sum of “Animal 1” and
“Animal 2”.

COUNTER = PSW-1(D)

0

Both

You can assign the counter to both silo weighers or to only one of them.

If you set the counter to PSW-1(D), always enter an input for “Input auger
active”. The counter reading is updated as soon as the input has been
closed.

COUNTER IN GROUP: See explanation water counter

You can use keys 0..9 to change the name of the counter.
For more information about changing text, see “User manual PL-9200 poultry computer”.

Counter in group: Every animal

group must always be assigned to
a counter.

Counter = PFV-9200, see page 57.

Counter = PFA-9200, see page 55.

Counter = PFS-16, see page 56.

MISCELLANEOUS COUNTERS

These counters (counter 7 up to 12) can only be used for registration purpose. They can not be linked to a
control. The choice "food counter", "water counter" and "miscellaneous" is just used to put the right unit behind
the counter counting.

FACTOR
Since, for example, 1 counter pulse is not always equal to 1 litre on all water counters, you can set a
multiplication factor here (1 pulse = xxx.xx litres). E.g. 1 pulse per 10 litres = 010.00

COUNTER IN GROUP: See explanation water counter

HOUR COUNTER

You can use the hour counter in order to record the operating hours of the manure belts and for other purposes.

You can use keys 0..9 to change the name of the hour counter.
For more information about changing text, see “User manual PL-9200 poultry computer”.

TIMERS

GROWTH CURVE TIME

SCHEDULS
Example growth curves time
schedules (see user screen 524
etc.)

Setting the “Growth curve time schedules” to “yes” enables you to have the time schedule of a timer varied,
depending on the animals' age. This prevents the user from continually having to adjust the times of the timer
(and, if relevant, the corresponding light intensity or dosing volume).

MASTER TIMER

Example of a timer that works with

relative times.

A master timer enables the user to link the start and stop times to the master timer (main timer). The timer in
question will then copy the master timer settings. This enables the user to set an earlier or later time (the
settings are relative to the master timer). If the times on the master timer are changed, the times of the “slave”
timer will change along. All timers, except the light timers/light controls, can use the master timer settings.
You may optionally provide the master timer with an output which will then function like an “ordinary” timer.

LIGHT TIMERS / LIGHT CONTROLS

You set the outputs for the light timers in these screens.

First set the inspection light before setting the light timers.

LIGHT TIMER / LIGHT CONTROL
You set the output for the light timer in this screen. If you enter “controlled”
behind the light timer, the climate control assumes that you want to apply light
proportional output regulation.
Enter an output number behind “Output on/off” if a relay has to be switched at
on/off output the same time as when the light control is switched on or off.

You can indicate for every individual light timer whether you want it to react to the pushbutton of the
inspection light. For a light control, you can also set the “Light intensity” during inspection.

Week programme: The user can use the “Week programme” to set that the dosage timer should not be
switched on every day, but should for example be switched on for 6 days and off for 1 day.

Output on/off: preferably use a relay output.

+ sequential timer: You can link the feed timer to the sequential timer of the “Feed chain”. The feed
timer (dosage timer) is then also switched on if the feed timer is “off” and the
sequential timer of the “Feed chain” is switched on.

Dosage: If the timer is used for dosing water, feed, etc., enter “yes” for “Dosage”.

Auto. partition period: If dosing should be spread automatically over several feeding periods, enter “Yes” for
“Auto. partition period”.
Dosage curve: Enter “yes” for “Dosage curve” if the customer wants to use a dosage curve. Set the
counter used for dosing registration on the next line (counter 1 . . 6).

Communication number: If you set the feed timer to communication, enter a unique identification number
after “Number”; this number must correspond to the feed timer number on the PFA-9200 feedweigher.

Feed mixure curve: If a feed weigher with several silos (types of feed) has been installed, you can use this
line to indicate whether the feed mixture should change as the ages of the animals change. Then enter yes for
“Feed mixture curve”.

The water en dosage timers are set in accordance with the feed timer.

You can use keys 0..9 to change the name of the timer.
For more information about changing text, see “User manual PL-9200 poultry computer”.

SEQUENTIAL TIMERS
As the name suggests, the outputs that have been set are driven in sequence (in turns) at the start time.

External input: You can use the external input to temporarily freeze (pause) the time. If the external input is
active, the time is stopped (interrupted) temporarily. The time will start running again from the point where it
was interrupted, as soon as the external output is deactivated.

Output: As an option, you can enter an output number here. This output follows the status of the rinse timer.

Counter off: As an option, you can enter the counter here that must be blocked while the rinse timer is active.
The counter impulses that occur while rinsing will not be added up to the counter that has been set then.

INFO

ANIMAL DATA
If the house contains more than one type of animals (e.g. roosters and hens) enter “Yes” behind “2 groups of
animals”.

In addition, you can change the group names of “animal 1” and “animal 2” in this screen in e.g. “roosters” or
“hens”. For more information about changing text, see “User manual PL-9200 poultry computer”.

If the feed system consists of a PFV-9200, only the animal data of the PL-9200 will be copied by the PFV-9200
feed computer via the communication loop. Give all animal groups unique identification numbers for this.
Feedback is via a counter input. For one animal group, assign one counter to the PFV-9200 and for two animal
groups assign two counters to the PFV-9200.

You can use keys 0..9 to change the name of the animal group.
For more information about changing text, see “User manual PL-9200 poultry computer”.

FILL RATIO
If you enter “reference” behind 'Fill ratio' you have to enter the number of animals for which the house was
initially designed in this screen.

Number of animals: This reference number cannot be changed by the

user.

Entry: If you set “entry” behind the fill ratio, the fill ratio will depend
completely on the number set by the user when entering new animals.

If the fill ratio for the calculated minimum and/or maximum ventilation
has been activated, the minimum and/or maximum ventilation
percentage will be adjusted automatically to the calculated fill ratio.

EXTERNAL ALARMS

The poultry computer has ten external alarm inputs to which potential-
free alarm contacts (breaker contacts) can be connected. When in
"operating mode" (no alarm) the contact is closed (connected to the 0V)
and the corresponding LED lights up.

You can use keys 0..9 to change the name of the external alarm.
For more information about changing text, see “User manual PL-9200 poultry computer”.

ACCESS CODE

The user access codes have to protect the climate computer against
unwanted changes by "unauthorized persons". These access codes must
be set in consultation with the customer. If a user code has been entered,
the user can only change a setting by entering the correct access code
first.

CHANGING OR DELETING ACCESS CODE

● Enter 0000 to delete the access code.
● You can change the access code simply by entering the new access
code.

If you have set an access code for the “User screens” for “User 1” and/or “User 2”, the “User” of the “House

● Go from the front side to rear side to assign the in- and outputs to the ventilation group (in the example are
these: T1, T2, T3, M1, M2 and M3).
● Go to the next nearest right ventilation group (in the example this is: MIDDLE 1)
● Assign yet again the in- and outputs to the ventilation group using the sequence front to rear (in the
example this is: T4)
● Go to the next nearest right ventilation group (in the example this is: RIGHT)
● Assign once more the in- and outputs to the ventilation group using the sequence front to rear (in the
example are these: T5, T6, T7, M5, M6 and M7).
● Repeat this assignment until all ventilation groups are provided with the required in- and outputs. Now you
can assign the in-and outputs to the other controls (heating, timers etc).

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

1. Implement the installation according to all-applicable standards and directives.

2. Implement the installation according all rules and regulations of your electricity distribution company.

3. Do not place a poultry computer in a dusty room and, most of all, not in a room with animals. Make sure
that water condensation is made impossible in or on the climate controller. Do not install the poultry
computer with the topside against or close to a heating pipe, this in connection with warmth dissipation.

4. Install the poultry computer at eye level.

5. Connect the transformers (for flaps and relay) behind a work switch so that they simultaneously have no
tension when the climate controller is turned off.

6. Connect all sensors to the poultry computer with a separate cable.

7. Mount auxiliary-relay, transformers, 'Power-modules' and other components in a separate cabinet.

8. Never place signal cables (sensors, communication, 0-10Volt signals etc.) and 230Vac-cables (electric lines,
mains supply, etc.) next to each other but place them far apart from each other (several tenths of
centimetres).

9. The length of a signal cable may amount to a maximum of 100 meters.

10. Avoid unnecessary loops in the cabling.

11. Earth metal cable ducts.

12. After the installation, screw on tightly and seal all swivels of the poultry computers, peripheral equipment
and sensors, etc. to avoid dirt and humidity.

13. Always install a manual control unit for critical controls, which dramatically affect the animals' well-being.
This manual control unit can be used in case of an emergency.

The entire system, consisting of one or several controllers, can be included in a communication loop. All
controllers in the communication loop must have a RS-485 communication PCB. Without the RS-485 PCB
installed the data exchange between the devices does not function. Maximum 32 RS-485 connections can be
made as part of one segment. If the system consists of more than 32 connections, a REP-485 must be used for
every 32 connections (see “Data Communication” manual).

INSTALLING THE COMMUNICATION PCB

Switch the power of the controller off before inserting the communication PCB in to the
connector. The communication PCB can be damaged if you insert the communication PCB in to the
connector without switching the power off. The communication PCB is plugged upside down (with the
components facing downwards) in to the connector. Secure the PCB with the two M3 screws.

0 In position “1” (terminating RS-

485 loop) the orange led TR is
1 on.

The TXD and RXD led’s are

flashing during data transmission
with one of the connected
devices.

The jumper must be in position “0” on all controllers, except on the two
controllers that are physically located at the end of the communication
loop, on these two controllers it must set to “1” (the terminate and fail-
safe resisters are now switch in to the loop).

Fail-safe resistors: To prevent the communication loop signals from 'floating' while the loop is in rest state,
two resistors are used to connect one signal line to ‘zero’ and the other signal line to
‘plus’, to define the signal levels for when the loop is in rest state (no communication).

MASTER DEVICE

A master device always takes the initiative in the communication loop, taking care
of the transfer of data between the connected controls. That is why it is important
that the correct number of houses be set on the master station. If more central
controls form part of the communication loop, only one central controller can be
set as the master device.

TASKS MASTER STATION

 A master device performs the following tasks:
 Calling up house data
 Making room data available to other poultry computers (for e.g. central exhaust system, central heating,
central alarm system etc.)
 Passing outside temperature
 Checking communication (malfunction loop / malfunction devices or other climate computer)
 Synchronizing date and time (daily at 12.30 hours)

Bandwidth ventilation: area in which the ventilation is set from minimum to maximum.
Temperature difference heating: area in which the heating is off and the ventilation is minimale.
Bandwidth heating: area in which the heating is set from minimum to maximum.
Temperature difference inlet flap: area in which the inlet flap is closed and the ventilation is increased.
Bandwidth inlet flap: area in which the inlet flap is set from minimum position to maximum
position.
Example:
● House temperature is set to 20.0ºC.
● Temperature setting main ventilation (temperature difference) is set to 0.0ºC.
● Minimum ventilation is 10.0%.
● Maximum ventilation is 90.0%.
● Bandwidth ventilation is 6.0ºC.
● Temperature difference (ΔT) heating is 3.0ºC.
● Bandwidth heating is 3.0ºC.
● Minimum flap position is 0% (complete closed).
● Maximum flap position is 100% (complete open).
● Temperature difference (ΔT) inlet flap is 3.0ºC.
● Bandwidth inlet flap is 3.0ºC.

Explanation:
Seven situations can be distinguished:
1. The temperature in the house is 14.0ºC or lower (house temperature – differential temperature heating-
bandwidth = 20.0ºC – 3.0ºC– 3.0ºC), the heating is set to maximum heating capacity. The ventilation is at
minimum level (10%) and the intake flap is closed.
2. The temperature is between 14.0ºC and 17.0ºC, the ventilation is at minimum level, the heating is
controlled from minimum to maximum heating capacity and the inlet flap remains closed.
3. The temperature in the house is between 17.0ºC and 20.0ºC, the ventilation is minimal, the heating is off
(minimum) and the inlet flap remains closed.
4. The temperature in the house is between 20.0ºC and 23.0ºC, (house temperature – differential
temperature inlet flap = 20.0ºC + 3.0ºC), the heating is off (minimum), the ventilation is further increasing
and the inlet flap remains closed.
5. The temperature in the house is between 23.0ºC and 26.0ºC, ventilation is increasing further, the heating
remains off and the inlet flap is opening from the minimum position (0%) to the maximum position (100%).
6. The temperature in the house is between 20ºC and 26ºC (house temperature + temperature setting main
ventilation + ventilation bandwidth = 20.0ºC + 0.0ºC + 6.0ºC), ventilation is increasing from 10% to 90%
(maximum ventilation).
7. The house temperature is 26.0ºC or higher, ventilation is at maximum capacity and the inlet flap is in its
maximum open position.

TEMPERATURE CONTROLS

HEATINGS
There is a number of heating control functions available, you can choose between:
● Analogue heating controlled (0-10V output)
● Analogue heating controlled with auxiliary relay
● On/off heating controlled (relay output)

If the room is out of operation, or if the heating is off, the controlled heating is driven at 0 Volt instead of the
minimum voltage; in case of inverted control the drive signal is 10 Volts.

TEMPERATURE SETTING [ °C ]

The poultry computer controls the heating capacity between the minimum and maximum settings. The speed to
control from minimum to maximum depends on the bandwidth. When the temperature measured exceeds the
temperature setting + hysteresis (0.5°C), the output is driven at 0V (-0%) (or 10V with 10-0V control).
If “Minimum heating” is activated, the “minimum” voltage is applied to the output when the current
temperature exceeds the temperature setting.

ON/OFF HEATING CONTROL

ON The On/Off heating is connected to a relay output (max. 24
Vac).

0.5°C
The switching hysteresis is fixed and is 0.5ºC.
OFF

TEMPERATURE SETTING [°C]

TIME PROPORTIONAL CONTROL

ON OFF At a time proportional control the output is driven as a percentage of
(40%) (60%) the cycle time setting.

Example
cycle time Adjusted cycle time 10 minutes
Calculated “on” percentage 40%
(100%) Output on during 10 *(40%/100%) = 4 minutes
Output off during 10 – 4 = 6 minutes

COOLING
Animal houses are very difficult to cool. Keeping the roofs wet is an option, but with little effect. Spraying the
animals or the feeding aisle with water is not to be recommended: this would cause the relative humidity in the
house to rise, as a result of which it would become much more difficult for the animals to dissipate heat.

Cooling can be done in several ways:

● Atomizing water: If water is atomized, the temperature in the house will fall (heat is required to evaporate
water). Atomizing water is not recommended in humid conditions: install a RH sensor to check this.
● Climate conditioning: The incoming air is cooled using a heat exchanger. An additional advantage is that a
heat exchanger can also be used for heating.
● Floor cooling: The floor cooling consists of pipes or panels poured into the concrete floor. If the temperature
measured rises to above the preset value, groundwater will be pumped through the pipes/panels. Floor
cooling may be combined with floor heating.

between the minimum and maximum settings. The
speed to control from minimum to maximum depends on
the bandwidth. The output is lowered to 0V when the
measured temperature falls below the preset
temperature – hysteresis (0.5°C).

COOLING OFF ON RH
2% If the cooling is on and the RH rises by 1% above the
preset RH, the cooling will be switched off.
ON

OFF If the RH then falls by 1% below the setting and the

Setpoint RF cooling temperature is still too high, the cooling is switched on
again.

SPRAY-COOLING (TIME PROPORTIONAL COOLING)

The spray-cooling supplies water when the temperature is too high and the relative humidity is too low. The
spray-cooling is switched on and off on a time-proportional basis. The water spray can evaporate while the
cooling is off. This will cause the air temperature and humidity to change.

ON OFF
(30%) (70%)
If 30% is calculated for cooling, then the cooling will be on for 30% of
the interval time and it will be off for the rest of the time. E.g. if you
have set an interval time of 10 minutes, the cooling will be on for 3
interval time minutes and off for 7 minutes (at 30% cooling).
(100%)

HUMIDIFICATION
In addition to the temperature, the relative humidity plays an important role in the animals’ comfort. The indoor
air may be very dry due to heating etc. Too dry air can cause health problems among the animals. Air
humidifiers are easy and adequate instruments to increase the relative humidity level. A relative humidity of 60
– 80 % is ideal for the animals. A higher value may occur if the relative humidity of the outside air is higher
than the setting. This is no problem if there is sufficient ventilation, but a permanently excessively low or high
relative humidity must be avoided at all times.

Humidification can be done in several ways:

● By evaporating cold water with a fan ensuring that moisture is released into the ambient air (often through
a filter mat). Possible contaminations in the air are filtered out.
● By evaporating hot water. A heating is used to heat the water; the resulting steam humidifies the air;

2%
The poultry computer can control the relative humidity in
ON
rooms, which have a misting system. If the RH measured
OFF falls to below the preset value, the misting system will be
Setpoint RF humidity
switched on. If a heating is on, humidification control will
be switched off.

Nest open “Nest box not open” Nest box not open after running time has elapsed
Nest box has not come out of open position after the running time
Nest closed “Nest box not closed”

If only “Output open” has been entered, the output will follow the status of the nest box timer.

The running time must be longer than the time actually needed by the motor to run from the open to the closed
position or from the closed to the open position (the motor stops when the motor hits the end switch).

If the nest box is opened and/or closed too fast the motor can be switched on and off during the “Running time”
using the “On” and “Off” time. The result is that the nest box will still be opened or closed gradually (only
possible if output open and output closed have been entered).

AQC UNIT

The AQC flap can be adjusted as measuring and adjusting unit in central exhaust
systems and as measuring and throttle unit under the ventilation shafts. Due to
the excellent aerodynamic qualities of the measuring fan and the double control
flap, the AQC flap is a reliable ventilation control system. The capacity of the
usual ventilators can be regulated with the AQC flap from 0.5m/s of the
maximum capacity.

INTER-ACTION BETWEEN FAN + AQC FLAP

The flap will not run until the fan regulates the ventilation any further. Depending on the fan voltage, the flap
will be opened or closed every minute in small steps

The dosing timer contact (B1) of the PL-9200 poultry computer switches on the auger of the house when the maximum sensor (S5) of feed line
2 no longer detects any feed and the alarm relay of the PFB feed weigher has been activated (no alarm). Install the maximum sensor (S5) of
feed line 2 at the right height in the receptacle so that the auger of the house can still empty the feed system (do not forget to install the RS485
in the PFB) when the maximum sensor detects feed. `Feed lines 1 and 2 can optionally also be controlled by a PL-9200 dosage timer.

Attention: never shorten or extend the load cell connection cable as this will affect the load cell accuracy. If several load cells are connected to
one input, adjust the sensitivity (mV/V) of that input to the number of load cells, see page 40. All load cells must be the same type and
capacity. Spread the silo weight equally among all load cells and, if necessary, adjust the load using the set screw.
