0.2500 mol nicotine, what is the molecular formula? (7)

2.3 Liquid nitroglycerine (C3H5N3O9) is a powerful explosive. When it detonates, it produces a gaseous
mixture of nitrogen, water, carbon dioxide and oxygen. If 5.55 g of nitroglycerine explodes and 2.98
g of CO2 is collected, what is the percentage yield of carbon dioxide? (7)

from 0.0°C to −10.0°C. Given that the freezing point constant for water is 1.86°C/m, calculate
the:

(i) Molality of the ethylene glycol solution. (1)

(ii) Number of moles of ethylene glycol. (1)

(iii) Mass of ethylene glycol added. (1)

(iv) Give a reason why the pure solvent’s freezing point is lowered. (1)
