5. Setup ...
5.1 Adjust ...

The printer can be adjusted during operation mode.

However, this should only be done if you have experience using the
printer.

5.1.1 Modulation
The drop separation point is determined by the size of the modulation
value.

The drop separation point can be set within a range of 0 - 255.

The modulation must be adjusted, by controlling the inkjet with a

magnifying glass.
(See Operating Manual of the inkjet printer)

Changes should only be made by trained personnel.

5.1.2 Auto Mirror

This option is only available in the RS232 mode.

The ‘Automatical Mirror’ allows to print texts alternately regular or inver-

se, within an inverse continuous printing.

5.1.3 Heat Temperature

The “Heat Temperature” option allows you to determine the temperature
of the ink.

The value of the ‘Heat Temperature’ can be set within a range of 20°C -
45°C.

The default setting is: 35°C

The heat temperature is preset at the factory and should only be changed
by agreement with WIEDENBACH or Komax.

5.1.4 Phasing
The ‘Phasing Voltage’ option sends the charging time of the droplets
back to the processor.

The value of the ‘Phasing Voltage’ can be set within a range of 5 V -

20 V.

The default setting is: 10-12 V

The phasing voltage is preset at the factory and should only be changed
by agreement with WIEDENBACH or Komax.

5.1.5 Charge Voltage

The ‘Charge voltage’ option limits the maximum charging voltage.

The value of the ‘Charge voltage’ can be set within a range of 125 V -
255 V.

The default setting is: 255 V.

The charge voltage is preset at the factory and should only be changed
by agreement with WIEDENBACH or Komax.

5.1.6 Ink Alarm

In the ‘Ink Alarm’ menu you can set whether an alarm is to be triggered
or suppressed in the event of ink faults.
Factory setting: Alarm ON

The “Ink Alarm” indicates no ink, overfilling with ink or overdosing of

solvent if the alarm indicator is activated.

The alarm is indicated on the OMI display and by an acoustic horn.

Every alarm is acknowledged by pressing the ‘ENTER’ key.

5.1.7 Phasing Control

In the ‘Phasing Control’ menu you can set whether an alarm is to be
triggered or suppressed in the event phasing errors.
Factory setting: Phasing Control ON

The alarm is indicated on the OMI display and by an acoustic horn.

Every alarm is acknowledged by pressing the ‘ENTER’ key.

The phasing control is preset at the factory and should only be changed
by agreement with WIEDENBACH or KOMAX.

5.1.8 HV Control
In the ‘HV Control’ menu you can set whether an alarm is to be triggered
or suppressed in the event of high voltage errors.
Factory setting: HV Control activated

The alarm is indicated on the OMI display and by an acoustic horn.

Every alarm is acknowledged by pressing the ‘ENTER’ key.

The HV control is preset at the factory and should only be changed by

agreement with WIEDENBACH or KOMAX.

5.2 Bleeding

The sub menu ‚Bleeding air’ is only shown, once the Inkjet printer
has been started and the head cap removed.

Especially after a long standing time it is recommended to stir the ink

more thoroughly by ‘air bleeding’ for 10-20 minutes, meaning to lift the
settled pigments of the ink.

After bleeding the printer, the modulation of the inkjet has to be checked.
By putting on the print head cover, the HV is activated automatically.

5.3 Sample ...

The ‘Sample’ sub-menu is only shown when the inkjet printer

is in the Print mode.
The sample print serves for test purposes.

5.3.1 Start Sample

The ‘Start Sample’ option is only available when the sample printing is
not active.

Attention!
You cannot leave the menu with ESC if the sample printing is active.

It is only possible to exit the menu after entering the ‘Stop Sample’
command.

5.3.2 Stop Sample

The ‘Stop Sample’ option is only available when the sample printing is
active.

5.3.3 Sample Text

The default value displayed in the ‘Sample Text’ menu can be changed
by turning the navigation wheel and confirming with the ‘ENTER’ key.

5.3.4 Text acceptance

For TCP/IP- Mode, for example Zeta633, it is possible to call and print a
sample print text for various simulated print head distances in different
matrices in a defined following order.

5.3.5 Sample Print Go

The start signal for printing is referred to as Print Go.

OMI: The OMI is used for Print Go. After switching on, an
interactive dialog menu appears in which the user is
prompted to press the ‘ENTER’ key for every print
command.
Time Factor: 10 - 5000 ms
An internal timer is used for Print Go.
Encoder: 10 - 2500 mm
An internal shaft encoder (distance) measuring
triggers the print according to the adjusted value
Signal: An external signal is generated for Print Go.

5.3.6 Sample Stroke Go

The text length (width) of the labelling can be set here.

Stroke Go is the pulse with which one drop array (1 stroke) is printed.

Time Factor: 0,05 - 12,5 ms

The Stroke Go is released according to this time entry
for the internal timer
Encoder: 20 - 5100 µm
An internal shaft encoder (distance) measuring

7.4 Addressing

The ‘Addressing’ sub-menu is only shown when no host

connection exists.

The following data of the TCP/IP configuration must be determined in

the ‘Addressing’ menu:

IP Address
IP Mask
IP Gateway
Port Number

To guarantee a smooth network operation procedure, please contact

your system administrator to determine the TCP/IP configuration.

7.5 Ink Density

The sub menu ‚Ink Density’ is only shown, if the Inkjet printer is
in Standby Mode.

The Ink Density must be adjusted according to the data sheet after a
change to a different type of ink.

Example: Recommended ink density 0,865g/ml .

Setting value: 865mg/ccm

7.6 Hydraulic Test

The ‘Hydraulic Test’ sub-menu is only shown when the inkjet

printer is in the Standby mode.

1. Dosage Valve: Doses solvent to the ink based on the fly time
measurement
2. Bleed Valve: Bleeds the ink line during the start and stop
process
3. Ink Valve: Switches the ink flow during the start and stop
process
4. Rinse Valve: Switches the solvent flow (Rinsing) during the
start and stop process
5. Forced Transfer: Fills the diaphragm tank
6. Suction Pump: Sucks ink back into the reservoir which was not
required for printing
7. Rinse pump: Creats the rinsing pressure during the start and
stop process
8. Circulation Test: Starts the circulation for 3 sec.

A hardware test can be run with the aid of the hydraulic test to check
the functioning of the valves and pump.

8. Password

Password for protected menus

The device has two password levels (access levels) whereby the
supervisor level offers the highest access possibilities.

The supervisor password must be entered to release protected menus.

On delivery of the printer the password for the

Supervisor Level is:

ABCD

Upper and lower case letters are differentiated.

The password which is shown in menu ‘Info ---> Statistic’ can also be
used to reach supervisor level, with the help of the OMI-password-tool.

Lock Menu
The supervisor menus are hidden. The operator returns to the User
level.

Change Password
The preset supervisor password can be changed by the operator.

The password may consist of any letters, numbers and characters.

A maximum 4 places are available.

If the device is switched off completely, the momentary password level

is retained at the next start.

Please note:
The minimum level at which the user must be in order to have
access to the menus is noted in the menu guide.
