STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
INTRODUCTION
I am tremendously delighted to introduce myself, my name is Shahbaz Ali Mikrani, born on 06 May 1997, a
permanent resident of Bhandsar-05, Sarlahi, Nepal holding a Nepalese passport of number 12529823. In order to
explore my knowledge towards computing, programming and technologies. Now, I introduced myself as a keen
student pursuing an enrolment for the course MASTER OF SCIENCE COMPUTER ENGINEERING IN CASE
WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY
ACADEMIC HISTORY
Commencing with my academics, I completed my School Leaving Certificate (SLC) from LITTLE FLOWER
ENGLISH BOARDING SCHOOL in the year 2014 securing 53.88 %. Later, I completed my Higher Secondary
Education where I took Science as my major in 2017 with 53.6 % from DR. ZAKIR HUSSAIN HIGH
SCHOOL, INDIA. With the data presented, I can confidently assure you that I had always been a hard-working
and a passionate student. After, completion of my intermediate level of study, I was in a dilemma which field
should I commence in engineering; with my ever-increasing fascination towards computing and programming I
decided to pursue degree in computer science. So, I joined Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and
Engineering which is a four-year program from a well reputed institute/college Bharath Institute of Higher
Education and Research, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Then, I completed Bachelor of Science in Computer
Science and Engineering in the year 2022.
REASONS FOR CHOOSING USA FOR MY FURTHER STUDY

Because of the great academic standards supported by this country, I chose the United States as the location for my
higher education. I am confident that by studying in the United States, I will considerably improve my employment
possibilities due to the value that a degree from here has. For a variety of reasons, international students from all
over the world prefer to pursue graduate studies in the United States. The educational quality is excellent and
comparable to that of these countries. The United States is a safe and secure place to visit because of its low crime
rate and little political tension. The highly welcoming community, which has a huge multicultural population,
makes international students feel quite welcome. I am looking forward to meeting individuals from all over the
world, learning about their origins and cultures, and gaining a new perspective as a result.
REASONS FOR NOT CHOOSING NEPAL

Although Nepal is naturally and culturally rich, it is a developing country, which has been severely suffering from
political instability for a very long. Hence, the education system is adversely affected due to this unstable
government of Nepal. The education system in Nepal is giving priority only to theoretical knowledge rather than
practical experience. Moreover, education institutions in Nepal lack the required infrastructure for practical
sessions. So, through my understanding. I found that the quality of education and affordability to continue my
future studies in the Australia suit me from my interest and financial aspects rather than my home country.
Moreover, a degree from my native country is not globally recognized and the course structure is not up to the
standard. Courses are not effective due to the unchanged syllabus. The university here lacks qualified professors.
Also, infrastructure is insufficient, which makes Nepal's education system relatively poor.
In fact, in Nepal, it is quite difficult to get a good job even after completing a degree from Nepal. It is quite
difficult to get a good job even after completing a degree from Nepal with a good division because employers give
priority to those with international degrees and exposure. Hence, this is the reason why I did not choose Nepal as
the knowledge gained from abroad study will enhance my economic status by getting a job in the highly paid
designation. On top of that, Nepalese degrees are not internationally recognized. Most importantly, there are
limited seats for the students in colleges and universities who are willing to pursue their career in managerial skills.
MSC is available only in four universities (Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, Pokhara University and
Purbanchal University) in Nepal, which is really hard to get admission. So, a handful of study materials,
inaccessible resources and less learning options have been the reasons that many Nepalese students are being
concerned to study abroad.
WHY CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY ?

Although its origins date to 1826, the University in its present form is the result of the 1967 federation of Case
Institute of Technology and Western Reserve University. The two institutions had shared adjacent campuses since
the late nineteenth century, and were involved in cooperative efforts for many years. Today, Case Western
Reserve's enrollment and resources, distributed among undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs that
encompass the arts and sciences, dental medicine, engineering, law, management, medicine, nursing, and social
work, achieve a balance that is distinctive among American universities. Case Western Reserve University is
located in University Circle, a 550-acre, park-like concentration of approximately 50 cultural, medical,
educational, religious, and social service institutions located at the eastern edge of the city center. University Circle
attracts visitors from throughout the region and the world to its concerts, theater performances, athletic events, art
shows, public lectures, exhibits, and restaurants. Housing, shopping, and recreational facilities are all located in the
area.
REASONS FOR CHOOSING MASTER IN SCIEMCE COMPUTER ENGINEERING.

According to industry experts, a significant number of scientists, technical experts, IT professionals and data
analysts depend on advanced know computer knowledge. Most of these opportunities are related to STEM and
therefore provide in-depth knowledge in each of these fields namely Mathematics, Technology, Engineering and
Science. It often happens that computer science graduates who have found internships in computer science also
provide them with practical knowledge. However, in order to grow in your career, you must have the requisite
knowledge. So they take a break from their professional commitments and enroll for the Master’s course.
FUTURE/CAREER PLAN:
As I aspire to serve my motherland and am hopeful that it will definitely fulfil my dream in bringing a positive
change in computer sector. I am sure that, future of my nation is within the hands of the youth. So, after the
completion of my degree, I will return back to my own nation and put all the information and skills into hone,
which can be bestowed in me from this college in Australia. As, I will be equipped with the necessary knowledge
and skills required to become a successful and also to work in various government as well as public sector. Also,
I will be able to compete in the national and international market and contribute in various sectors in my country.
Nepal, as a developing country, needs a great revolution in IT industry and it is the main reason, I have a clear
intention to return back to Nepal after the completion of my course and make some contribution in the field of IT
industry. Additionally, the two major choices accessible for MASTER OF SCIENCE COMPUTER
ENGINEERING IN CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY graduates are government employments or
private employments. Whereas the number of occupations accessible within the Cyber security,apps developer ,
software engineering field and many more field within the government sector is constrained, the scope of getting
work within the private division is high. On the other hand, pursuing higher studies at MASTER OF SCIENCE
COMPUTER ENGINEERING IN CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY, is also one of the options. However, it
depends on student career aspirations and financial stability. After the completion of my course, I can apply for
different government enrolment exam like: Public Service Commission (PSC) as the government work may be a
lifetime settlement; thorough arrangement will donate your advantage. After the successful completion of my
course, I will be eligible with the necessary knowledge and skills for some of the well reputed posts such as:
Computer Engineer, Computer system engineer, Cyber security experts etc. and many more where I can get
the lucrative salary.
FINAL WORDS
When I will complete my master programme, the investment of time, money, struggles and sacrifices all will worth
when I will hold my degree on my hand. The journey will be tough for me as well as my family emotionally but
this will lead me to a better future and my parents will be proud with me when I will come home with the degree.
After getting good experience and knowledge about computing and information technology in cyber security I
will be able to work in different branches of computer science which includes cyber security, Systems Security
Engineer and Project Managers. The job opportunities in my home country in IT will grow immensely so I will
have hundreds of opportunities waiting for me when I come back. Therefore, I promise that I will be a well-
disciplined student while living in USA for my better life in future and am eagerly looking forward for being
privileged member of your academic community.
