In the Philippines, corn is a vital crop that plays a big role in the economy and
provides a substantial portion of the income for many farmers. After rice, maize is the
second most important crop in the Philippines, where a significant portion of the farming
population depends on it for their livelihood. All income deciles have benefited from the
enhanced productivity and income that maize farmers have experienced as a result of
the use of genetically modified (GM) corn. The nation's maize output has increased and
is still growing because to the usage of Bt corn, which is resistant to stem borer. It has
been discovered that combining organic and inorganic fertilizers increases soil fertility,
corn product production, and corn product quality. Additionally, the advancement of
movable corn mills has an essential element in helping the nation achieve food self-
sufficiency, especially in rural areas. In general, corn is significant in the Philippines
since it supports the nation's economy, way of life, and food security.Because it is a

income for many farmers, corn is highly valued in the country. In the Philippines,
maize farming has been essential to the country's economy, supporting around 100
billion pesos a year. Additionally, the maize industry has seen a considerable increase
in productivity as a result of the introduction of genetically modified (GM) yellow corn
varieties, which has improved welfare overall and benefited all income deciles.
Furthermore, it has been discovered that combining organic and inorganic fertilizers into
corn production increases yield, product quality, and consumer acceptance. This
highlights the significance of using the right fertilization techniques to improve corn
farming results. All things considered, grain is essential to the agricultural.
Corn is crop that ideally grows in an area with distinct wet and dry season. The
crops need light to moderate rains for more than three months for better production.
Although dry weather is much favored during vegetative and flowering stage, however
high atmospheric temperature and limited soil moisture have great impact on flower
pollination and corn kernel development. Furthermore, insect pest population build up is
rapid that control measure are no longer effective. On the other hand, changes in
weather pattern due to climate change also posed a threat to corn production especially
on open pollinated varieties.
