guide talks you through how it works and how to get the most from it.

Your Music Player is designed to be very simple to use, but a few minutes setting
it up to be perfect for you and your loved ones can make it even simpler. It has a
unique control panel that allows you to hide away the buttons you don’t need to
use, to prevent them being pushed by mistake. You can read more about how to
set this up, and other personalisations on page 7, or to start using it straight away,
read the Quick Start guide on page 5.

Personalising your Music Player
Making the control panel right for you

A unique feature of the Music Player is that each set of buttons is mounted on
a ‘tumbler’ that can be turned over and hidden if you don’t need to use them,
or worry that you or your loved ones will press them by accident and lose their
favourite station. This way you can choose the controls you want, or simplify it
to one button operation. There are 8 different combinations to choose from, 3 are
shown below

The tumblers are locked in place during normal operation and unlocked using
the USB tumbler. The USB tumbler has 3 positions - closed, unlocked and open.
To customise the control panel, it needs to be in the unlocked position.

This tumbler also works as the way to enter the setup menu, for which it should
be fully open. This is only likely to be used in this way during setup, and will only
be used in normal operation for inserting USB sticks.

Setting radio presets

To make it easy to switch between your favourite radio stations, you can set them
as presets, which can then be switched back and forth between with the next and
back buttons.

To set radio stations as presets:

1. Make sure the Music Player is in radio mode by pressing the radio button

2. Open the USB tumbler with the next and back buttons showing to access
the menu

3. Navigate down to ‘Radio Presets’ using the back button and press enter

4. 5 preset slots will appear. Navigate to ‘Preset 1’ using the back button and
press enter

5. A list of all the available stations will appear. Navigate to the station you wish to
save as Preset 1 and press enter
11
This station will now be saved as preset 1. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for other stations
you want to set. Up to 5 presets can be stored.

Important: Once presets are set, it is no longer possible to select other stations
without accessing the ‘Station List’ in the setup menu, or adding them to the preset
list. Therefore if only one preset is defined, the next and back buttons will have no
function in radio mode.

Listening to FM Radio

If your favourite radio stations are not available as DAB, but are broadcast as FM
stations, you can switch the radio into FM Mode. To do this

1. Access the menu by opening the USB tumbler while the next and back
buttons are visible

2. Use the back button to navigate down the menu and the enter button to
select ‘Radio Mode.’

12
3. Then use the back button to select ‘FM’ and press the enter button.

4. Close the USB tumbler and press the radio button and your radio will now be
able to access FM stations. You can use the next and back buttons to seek
between FM stations.

Presets can be set for FM stations following the steps on page 9, but using the next
and back buttons to seek between stations rather than selecting from a list. Press
enter once your desired station is found to save it as a preset.

Setting alarms

You can set alarms for the music player to turn on automatically at a set time.
This can be used to wake someone up, or simply if they enjoy listening to music at
a certain time of day, but may forget to switch the Music Player on. Alarms only
work when the Music Player is plugged into the mains, rather than operated from
batteries.
13
To set an alarm:

1. Access the menu by lifting up the USB tumbler while the next and back
buttons are showing.

2. Navigate down the menu using the back button and press enter when you
reach ‘Alarm.’ The alarm menu then allows you to set the following settings and
options:
Alarm – Off | On
Frequency - Daily | Once | Weekends | Weekdays
Wake up time – this is time that the alarm sounds
Source – Buzzer | Digital Radio | FM
Duration – 15 | 30 | 45 | 60 | 90 | 120 minutes
Volume – This is the volume the alarm will build up to. Use the next and back
buttons to adjust, and the enter button when set.

14
At the set time the alarm will sound, quietly at first, then build up to the set volume.

Turning the Music Player off automatically

The Music Player has an ‘Inactive Standby’ function, which turns it off if none of
the buttons have been pressed after a certain length of time. This may be useful if
the person using it forgets to turn it off. To set the Inactive Standby function:

1. Open the USB tumbler with the next and back buttons visible to access the
menu

2. Use the back button to navigate to ‘Inactive Standby’ it may be off the bottom
of the screen, so keep going down until you find it, and press the enter button

3. Use the next and back button to navigate to the length of time required that
the Music Player will turn off after. Press the enter button.

Your Music Player will now turn off after the time set, if no buttons are pressed.
15
Adjusting the screen brightness and dimming

It’s possible to change the brightness of the screen to help save battery life and
make it more suitable for using in a bedroom, for instance. To adjust the screen
brightness:

1. Open the USB tumbler with the next and back buttons visible to access the
menu

2. Use the back button to navigate down to ‘Backlight’ and press enter

3. Use the back button to select ‘On Level’ and press enter

4. Use the back button to select the desired level of brightness and press enter

It is also possible to adjust the time after which the display brightness dims of no
buttons are pressed by using the ‘Dim After’ option on the menu

16
Helping others listen to music

It is possible to change the screen the music player shows when it’s in standby
mode to remind someone to use it and how to do so. You can also turn it off
completely if it’s distracting. To change the standby screen from the clock:
1. Fully open the USB tumbler with the next and back buttons visible to access
the menu
2. Use the back button to navigate down to ‘Standby Screen’ and press enter
3. Use the next and back button to select the standby screen required (see

Creating a playlist on USB
To create a playlist of music on a USB stick, you’ll need to transfer the audio files
from a computer. To get the music you want on your computer, we recommend
downloading it from an online music store, such as iTunes or Amazon. The Music
Player can play files in MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV and FLAC formats.

1. Insert the USB stick into an empty USB port in the computer, it should show up
in the File Explorer if using a Windows computer or the Finder if using Apple.

2. Select the files you want to load from where they’re stored on your computer,
and drag them with the mouse across to the USB drive window.

3. The USB will play back the files in the order they’re loaded onto the stick, so
if the order to play them back is important, we recommend dragging and
dropping one by one to the USB stick. They may display in a different order on
your computer as this may sort them alphabetically, or in order of size.

18
Setting and adjusting the time and date
The Music Player should set the time automatically from the radio signal it
receives. To adjust the time, or change the format:

1. Open the USB tumbler with the next and back buttons visible to enter the
menu

2. Use the back button to navigate to ‘Time/Date’ and press enter

3. To adjust time, select ‘Set Time/Date’ and use the next and back buttons to
adjust the time up and down, pressing enter to confirm

4. To change the time format between 12/24 hours, select ‘Set 12/24 Hour’ and use
the next and back buttons to select the required format. Press enter to
confirm.

19
Resetting to factory settings
There may be a situation where you want to delete all of the settings you’ve
adjusted from your Music Player, such as the radio presets and alarms and return it
to the way it left the factory. To do this:

1. Open the USB tumbler with the next and back buttons visible to enter the
menu

2. Use the back button to navigate to ‘Factory reset’ and press enter

3. Use the back button to highlight ‘Yes’ and press enter

Cleaning your Music Player
