Project Proposal

Project Title: Solid Management Waste

Project Proponent(s): Baranggay Officials

Project Rationale:

Plastics, papers, glass bottles, food and beverage cans/containers, and various
flattened cardboards are all necessary in our daily lives. All of these serve a variety of
functions in our lives, ranging from commercial to household use. Today, people lack
discipline when it comes to the proper disposal of waste. Most of them tend to throw
their garbage anywhere without considering the consequences. Poor waste
management is all around the world, and municipalities cannot achieve sustainable
growth without efficient solid waste management.

Project Objectives:

 To prevent generation waste

 To lessen the waste pollution in the community
 To teach the citizens proper waste management

Project Description:

The accumulation of waste has become an increasingly critical issue in modern

society, with the volume of garbage produced worldwide exceeding the capacity of
municipal authorities to effectively manage it. This has led to a significant decline in
waste management services, resulting in the proliferation of permanent garbage
mounds and illicit dumping activities, particularly in business and residential
neighbourhoods. One of the key factors contributing to this problem is the ineffective
waste separation systems currently in place. Additionally, the rapid pace of urbanization
and the shortage of trained workers in urban centres worldwide have further
exacerbated the challenges faced by waste management personnel and their
management practices.

This project seeks to develop and implement comprehensive waste management

strategies, focusing on enhanced waste separation systems, innovative technologies
and infrastructure, capacity building and training, and stakeholder engagement and
public participation. By improving waste separation techniques, investing in advanced
technologies, training workers, and involving local communities, businesses, and NGOs,
the project aims to enhance waste management efficiency, reduce waste accumulation,
and mitigate negative environmental and public health impacts. Through collaboration
and innovation, we can create a sustainable future by effectively managing waste and
preserving valuable resources.

Project Duration:

 Project duration: Approximately 3 to 5 years (subject to variation)

 Planning and research phase: 6 months to 1 year
 Public awareness campaigns and community involvement: Ongoing throughout
the project duration
 Monitoring and evaluation of progress: Ongoing throughout the project duration
 Continuous adaptation and improvement of waste management practices:
Ongoing throughout the project duration.
Target Beneficiaries:

 Local communities: Improved waste management services and practices for a

cleaner and healthier living environment.
 Waste management personnel: Enhanced skills and efficiency through capacity
building and training.
 Environment and public health: Mitigation of negative environmental impacts and
reduced public health risks through effective waste management practices.

Proposed Budget:

 Waste bins and containers: PHP 2,000

 Gloves, masks, and safety gear: PHP 3,000
 Signage and posters: PHP 4,000
 Waste collection vehicles: PHP 5,000

Overall: PHP 14,000

Monitoring and Evaluation:

The monitoring and evaluation process for the solid waste management project
includes regular data collection, tracking implementation, and assessing effectiveness.
Reports and recommendations will be made to drive continuous improvement and
incorporate stakeholder feedback.
