Valedictory 2023
Buenos dias, amigos. It is really a pleasure for us, graduates, to see everyone here
today as we celebrate our success. To our district head, Dr. Arnio L. Saludario, to the ever-
supportive and pro-student school head , Sir John Alver Corsino and as well to the school
heads of Catarman V District who are present today, to our guest speaker, who gave us
insights about life as she battled for her dreams, Ms. Marry Joy Delorino Moyar, to our
diligent and hands-on adviser, Sir Giovanni H. De Guia, to all teaching personnel, proud
parents, as well as my fellow students Thank you! Your presence means a lot.
It wasn’t long ago that we ventured to dream, and it wasn’t long ago that we dared to
take the first critical step towards completing our primary education. To this very day, me
and my batch mates are proudly celebrating our success after years of adversity, struggle, and
perseverance. We recall the obstacles that lay ahead of us, and we relish the success that
came our way.
As I was drafting my speech, I kept wondering what graduation really is and what it
means to us. I’m not knowledgeable enough, though. I perceive life as a journey, and
graduation is not the end objective in and of itself; rather, it is part of the wider trip of our
lives. So, let our future lead us wherever it will. Life is a journey, and all of our victories
along the way should be viewed as stepping stones to greater ones. Our graduation should act
as a launching pad, propelling us wherever our lives are supposed to lead us. This is a trip of
uncertainties and questioning of our worth and capabilities, but still, let us strive to see how
far we’ll go. Just like Moana said “There’s more beyond the reef”. So, let us just continue
what we have started no matter what life throws at us in our next voyage, because at the end
of each journey, we will slowly see what we are made of.
Now, I’m having this sense of pride and enjoyment as I stand in front of everyone. I
have demonstrated to myself that I can be the best at what I do if I work hard and have a
strong sense of dedication and endurance. I’m also pleased since the work, effort, and
sacrifices of our teachers have been properly rewarded.
These medals I now own are the result of all my efforts, and I know I couldn’t be my
best without my family, who were always there to guide me. Especially to the most beautiful
butterflies in my life, mommy, Tatay Amay, and Ate Yahanna. Mommy, Tatay, I want you to
know that you have never failed in showing us what true love is. Thank you for supporting us
as we explore and discover more about ourselves. Thank you for letting us decide what to do
with our lives. To all parents here, thank you for your never-ending love, patience, and
support. To our teachers for their insurmountable dedication and patience in teaching us.
Ma’ams and sirs, you taught us a lot of things that we will remember as we work through our
dreams. To my fellow grads, we are closing one great chapter of our lives and beginning a
new one. New adventures, new friendships, new challenges—but with everything we learned
at Somoge Elementary School let us keep marching towards the fulfillment of our hopes and
aspirations.
We may face many difficulties along the way, but our burning desire to succeed will
keep us from straying or giving up. There are many doubts along the route, but certain rays of
light will guide us in the right direction.
Let us thank God for His unending grace and wisdom; our teachers for their
unwavering dedication; our parents for their unconditional support during these years; and
our friends who have walked beside us. Because of them, we were able to accomplish this
endeavor. Because of them, we can genuinely say, “We made it!”
