17. Let ABC be a triangle with A = 90° and AB < AC. Let AD be the altitude from A onto BC. Let
P, Q and I denote respectively the incenters of triangles ABD, ACD and ABC. Prove that AI is
perpendicular to PQ and AI = PQ.
18. A median BK, an angular bisector BE and an altitude AD are drawn in a triangle ABC. Find the
side AC if it is known that the line BK and BE divide the line segment AD into 3 equal parts and
if AB = 4cm. Find the length of AC.
19. Let ABC is right triangle in which A=90°. Two squares ABFG and ACKL are described on AB
and AC outside the triangle. If BK, CF cut AC, AB in M, N respectively. Show that AM = AN.
20. 'P' is any interior point of triangle ABC; three lines through 'P' are drawn respectively parallel to
the three sides so that three small triangles are formed. If the areas of three triangles so formed are
4, 9 and 16 unit2 in any order. Then find the area of triangle ABC. {[ ] represents area}
21. ABCD is a square. From the vertex D a line is drawn inside the square making an angle of 25°
with AD and from the opposite vertex B another line is drawn making an angle of 20° with AB; let
they both meet at 'P' Then find BPC.
22. AP, AQ, AR and AS are the chords of a given circle with the property that
PAQ = QAR = RAS. Then prove that AR (AP+AR) = AQ (AQ +AS).
23. Let ABCD be a rectangle with BC = 3AB. If P, Q are two points on BC such that BP = PQ = QC
then show that DBC+ DPC = DQC.
24. In a trapezium ABCD; AB || CD; A = 53° and B = 37°, if AB = 24cm and CD = 14cm find the
distance between the midpoints of parallel sides.
25. Let ABC be any triangle right angled at A. If D, E trisects the hypotenuse BC then prove that
5
AD2 AE2 BC2 .

26. ABCD is a square. BEFG is another square is drawn with common vertex B such that vertices E,
F falls inside the square ABCD. Then Show that DF AE. 2 .
27. Let ABC be an acute angled triangle with the property that the bisector of the BAC, the altitude
through B and the perpendicular bisector of AB intersects in one point. Determine the BAC.
28. Let ABCD be a rectangle and BC = 2AB. Let E be the midpoint of BC and P is an arbitary inner
point on AD. Let F and G be the feet of perpendicular drawn correspondingly from A to BP and
from D to CP. Prove that the points E, F, P, G are concyclic.
29. Let ABC be a triangle with the right angle at C such that the side BC is longer than the side AC.
The perpendicular bisector of AB intersects the line BC in D and the line AC in E we assume that
DE and side AB have the same length. Determine the angles of the triangle ABC.
30. The interior and exterior angles at C of a triangle ABC are bisected by CD, CF to meet AB and
BA produced at D, F respectively. From D a line DR is drawn parallel to BC to meet AC at R.
Show that FR produced bisects BC.
31. ABCD is a parallelogram having AB = 2BC. The side BC is produced from both sides to E and F
so that BE = BC = CF. Show that AF is perpendicular to DE.
32. ABC is a right angled triangle at B. On AB and BC two squares ABDE, BCGH are described
outside the triangle. From E, G two perpendiculars EL, GK are drawn to AC produced. Show that
AC = EL + GK.
33. ABC is a triangle. D, E and F are the points on BC, CA and AB respectively. Such that BD is
twice of DC, CE is twice of EA and AF is twice of FB. Prove that the area of triangle DEF is l/3rd
of area of triangle ABC.
