Where is Acropolis
Who created it
In the second half of the 5th century bc
after the victory between the Persians
an exceptional group of artists came
together to put into effect of the plans
of the Acropolis made by an Athenian
Statesman Pericles and under the guide
of Pheidias the Sculptor. Transforming
the rocky hill into an amazing
monuement the most important places
built there were the Parthoneon built by
Ictinus, The Erechtheon made by the
Propylaea, the entrance designed by
Mnesicles and the small temple Athena
Nike.
When was it created
The Persains destroyed some parts of the Acropolis
throughout the battle of Salamina in 480 BC.
Pericles determined to make Acropolis the
spectacular place it is today he initiated a gaint
building project of 50 years long. Starting in the
second half of the 5th century BC. We still do not
know the exact dates that he started or finished but
inbetween the 5th century was when Acropolis was
built. The Athenain Democratic Pericles was the one
who rebuilt it back up to what you see today
Why was it made
The Acropolis was mainly built as a huge
temple to their patron Goddess Athena
aswell as the other Gods.
It's other meaning was a fortress for when
Athens was attacked or ambushed as it has
an excellent view of the sea so they can see
any ships that are planning to come on
shore. During the Mycenaean times it
became a religious place.dedicated to
worship the Goddes of Wisdom and War.
It is said that the place was declared a place
only for the Gods from a Oracle, and
therefore stopped being a place for people.

What does this tell us about
Ancient Greece
That Athens idoled the Gods and that Athena was the
