IV. Work Execution

DELIVERY & STORAGE

1. Coordinate the schedule of the delivery to the project team for monitoring purposes. Secure
pertinent permits such as road usage applicable to projects located within an estate or along roads.
Deploy flagman, provide adequate lighting and set-up traffic barriers based on approved
safety/estate requirements.
2. Deliveries must be received and inspected by authorized personnel. Warehouse requirements will
be for the account of the client.
3. Warehouse area should be secured and clear from water seepage or leaks as well as debris to
prevent damage and loss to the delivered items. Ensure to provide barricade and signage on the
storage areas.
4. Storage area should be elevated. Should the site be unavailable to receive the goods, warehouse
charges will apply. After the delivery of materials, the items shall be sorted per code by unit and
floor.
5. Create Material Receiving Inspection before delivery. MDC-QAQC, MDC-FE/FA will inspect
incoming materials to ensure delivered materials conform to approved materials.

Procore, work permits and safety permits prior to start work.
9. All installation works shall be done in accordance to requirement and project
specification.
Inspection

 Decoration
The walls must be plastered and have at least one coat of undercoat.

 Tolerances
Poliform Kitchens are installed to industry standards.

 Walls
We recommend concrete walls are leveled, as we work to a standard 2-3mm tolerance
between the cupboard and the wall. If your walls are not leveled you may find that the gap
between the wall and cupboard unit is larger than this tolerance. We can scribe a panel into
the wall should this be required; this involves ordering a larger panel to be cut down to size.

 Wall Unit
Walls will require strengthening to be able to support the wall units that are (in most cases)
flush mounted to the walls with a metal bracket system. Where there are fluorescent lights
behind the units, they are in an aluminum channel, which is flush mounted onto a wall before
the wall units. Drywall & vanjoin walls should also have extra strength specific to concrete or
solid wood.

 Flooring
We recommend that all floors be laid throughout the kitchen prior to installation. Our installation
charges are based on the floor being laid, allowing us to compete the installation including the
fitting of plinths and side panels. If the flooring is not in place, it is imperative that a sample of
the floor must be on site at the time of installation to allow the fitter to correctly fit the cabinets.
Please note that should the floor not be laid; we my charge for additional visits to site in order
to fit plinths and side panels.
Our furniture does have adjustable legs and the side panels have small feet to allow for levelling
purposes. The tolerance on the side panels is 6mm – if your floor runs out beyond this tolerance
there will be significant gaps under any plinth/side panels you have. Uneven floor will be noted at
your pre-installation survey but is to be addressed prior to installation

3. Work Procedure
WORK SEQUENCE INSTALLATION
(As per supplier/manufacturer’s recommended methodology)

PREPARATORY WORKS FOR INSTALLATION OF KITCHEN CABINETS

Preparation of Floor, Wall, and Ceiling
 Conduct punch listing and ensure that all punch lists were rectified before signing Handover
form from MDC.
 Ensure that the area has been properly turned over by the general contractor to Poliform.
 Secure necessary permits (WAP) prior to installation. NO approved WAP, NO activity
 Floor must be levelled to avoid misalignment of gap between the cabinet base and finished
floor (Use level bar for checking). Floor tiles should be installed prior to installation.
 Wall areas behind the cabinets should be painted before the installation of cabinets.
 Ceiling works must be done; finishing should be leveled and even.
 Wall corners should also be levelled.
 Electrical stub-outs and provisions should be available.
 Should there be any conflicts, coordinate and submit punch list to respected trades and to the
general contractor.

INSTALLATION OF STRUCTURE
Installation of Base Cabinet
 Set the first cabinet, form the positioning line and adjust plinth until the top is even with the
horizontal line and level from front to back.

Method Statement
Doc No: FR-01-QAQC-GF-015 Revision No. 3 Effectivity Date: November 17, 2022 Page 9 of 22

 Position the corner cabinets, away from the vertical positioning lines. Adjust the plinth until
the cabinet top is even with the horizontal levelling line

Installation of Wall Cabinet

 After all the base cabinets are set above the lower cabinets, mark the wall cabinet positions.
Screw a 107mm hanging plates to the wall even with the level line.

22

 Start by making a light pencil mark up from the lower cabinets (it’ll be 580mm after the
countertop is installed) and then mark the stud locations using the ones below as a guide. Next,
transfer the cabinet positioning lines from below and screw a 1x2 ledger to the studs even with
the layout lines.

 Start corner cabinets first. Space the first end cabinet exactly ¼ in. away from the layout line
and screw it to the wall. Be exact with the first cabinet because it will define the locations of all
the rest of the cabinets on that wall.
 Start the screws the next cabinet into place, snugging its frame against the neighboring one.
You’ll have to back out the stud screws slightly in one or both cabinets to get the frames to line
up perfectly.

NOTE: Ensure that no embedded utilities will be damaged/affected during drilling activities to
prevent damages and potential leak issues.

Installation of Finishing Side

 Screw the finishing side to the end panel.

NOTE: Ensure that no embedded utilities will be damaged/affected during drilling activities to
prevent damages and potential leak issues.

Installation of Filler
 Add filler in the same lengths as the height of the cabinet face frames.

Cut-out of substrate prior installation of countertop

 Lay out sink and electrical openings, using the layout lines on the substrate as reference
points. Then drill and/or saw out the openings.

 Cut openings for sink and cooktop. Lay out the openings by measuring from the layout lines
at the top, do the layout work with the cabinet near its position and in the right orientation. Cut
square openings with a jigsaw. Cut a rectangular hole around it. Ensure that PPE is worn by
the person using the jigsaw.
