Native Ethernet
The Ethernet traffic is sent over a single hop or
through a network. Native Ethernet traffic is sent
over a dedicated physical link instead of being
transported over PDH or SDH. Native Ethernet
enables more efficient use of bandwidth and
maximizes Ethernet throughput since no PDH
overhead is added.
Shows an overview of the Ethernet services.
Ethernet over Packet Links via a WAN with an RL-IME Group
Right click on the Modem Unit used for the Native Ethernet→ Confugue→ Configure
Radio Link
Configure the Capacity of the link ,in this example we have configured the link for 345
Mbit/s
We can also select the no of E1 for the TDM traffic which will reduce the capacity of
Ethernet Traffic
Now configure the LAN port from we are taking Ethernet Traffic
Assign a Switch Port to the LAN port ,here we have assigned Switch port 1
Now configure RL-IME link for Ethernet Traffic, here we will configure RL-IME 1/7/100
Right click oon RL-IME 1/7/100 →Configure
Assign the Packet link to RL-IME group, here we have assign Modem unit no 2 (MMU2H)
Above Figure shows an overview of the Ethernet services for Ethernet over
PDH.
Configure Structure AU-4/VC-4
Configure Structure AU4/VC-4
We have Defined Structure as AU-4
Configure link for Ethernet Traffic
Define Concatenation
Define VCG to configure Ethernet over SDH
Select required VCG & press forward button
WAN port would be automatically created corresponding to the VCG 1/8/101
Now configure Ethernet Over SDH
Configure VCG 1/8/99 with Packet link 1/4/1
Assign Switch port to the WAN 1/8/101
Assign Switch port for LAN port
Configure VLAN
Complete VLAN configuration with VLAN ID & Switch ports, after that the link will be
active for Ethernet Over SDH

Simple Bridge
Configuration
Assign the Nuber of E1s for TDM traffic & Capacity for Ethernet Traffic
Adaptive
Modulation
Hitless Adaptive Modulation is supported by MMU2 H and enables automatic
switching between different modulations, depending on radio channel
conditions. Hitless Adaptive Modulation makes it possible to increase the
available capacity over the same frequency channel during periods of normal
propagation conditions.
Configure the Minimum & Maximum Capacity of the link for the QOS
We can see that in good condition link capacity is 154 Mbps with 128 QAM
When radio conditions goes bad then link capacity reduces to 90 Mbps with 16 QAM to make sure that the
impotant date still running on the microwave link.
Frame
Addmission
Frame admittance - It is possible to block or admit the following frame types at
the network edge:
Q-Tagged (priority bits/VID set in Q-tag)
Priority tagged (only priority bits set in Q-tag)
Untagged (no Q-tag)
Other/unrecognized frame types (for example S-tags) are discarded at the
network edge.
We can defined the type of frames we want to access ,default is Admit All
We have 2 options:-
1. Admit Only VLAN-tagged Frames
2. Admit Only Untagged And Priority-tagges frames
Link Aggregation group
LAG
Link Aggregation Group (LAG),
which aggregates several external
Ethernet links into one logical link
and provides line protection.
Right Clink on Ethernet-Switch →Configure→LAG
Click Add Row button
Define Master port & Member ports for LAG
Save the configuration by clicking Save button
MAC Address
limiting per
port
MAC address limiting per port. It is possible to limit the MAC address table per port
to prevent external devices/networks to flood the customer network with MAC
addresses.
It will allow operator to set the limit of the MAC address in Network as per the
requirment.
Click on Switch port & define Maximum Learned MAC address, In out example Switch port will
listen only 20 MAC address & drop all other data.
Default value is 0 which means it will learn all MAC addresses. Maximum Value is 0 to 16383
MAC WHITE
LIST
A source MAC address based white list can provide port access control at the
network edge
Right Click on Ethernet Switch → Conofigure → MAC white list
Click on Add Row
Configure White list Name & click Save
Give MAC address and again click Save
Now configure the Switch port, now in example now Switch port 1 will only listen data from MAC
addess 00:00:00:00:00:01
Now Switch port is configured for MAC White list “test”
If we wish to delete MAC white list then we have to make sure it is not assiegned to any Switch port
else we will face Error messege
Port Mirroring
It gives the facility to measure the traffic on any port to be mirrored on another port for
quality measurement, Wire shark is best tool to get the output on local machine for
investigation
Right Clickn on Ethernet Switch →Tools →Port Mirror
Click on Add Row
Now here we have mirroed port no 2 to port no 5, Port no 5 is connecte to external machine like
laptop not using Wire shark we can monitor all data going Via port no 2
Rapid
Spanning Tree
protocol
RSTP activates a redundant link in case of link failure and protects the
network from infinite loops
Right Click on Ethernet Switch → Configure → Spanning Tree
Configure STP as RSTP & save the configuration.
Select all WAN ports to aviod looping,we have no need to select LAN ports
Static Unicast Filtering
Right Click on Ethernet Switch → Configure → Static Unicast Filtering
Select VLAN no (here we have taken VLAN-222)
Click on Add Row, Select required Switch port
Right Click on Ethernet Switch → Configure → Static Multicast Filtering
Configure the Static Egress ports for the Multicast & save the configuration
Layer 1 Connection
Right click on Layer 1 Connection & go to Configure
Define the WAN & LAN port you want to configure for the Layer 1 Configuraion & save it
Weighted Fair Queuing
(WFQ).
A potential problem with strict priority scheduling
is that queues with lower priorities may be
starved, that is, the frames in the queues are not
handled and eventually dropped. By using
Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ) it is possible to
avoid starvation. When WFQ is used, queues
can be configured with a weight parameter,
which decides how large share of the available
output port bandwidth that is dedicated to the
specific queue,
• Example to understand WFQ
Right Click on Ethernet Switch → Configure → General
Click on “Configure QoS”
Select the Scheduling profile as per design
Click yes
Now WFQ is configured
