ABSTRACT
Blood bank management systems (BBMS) are vital for optimizing the collection, processing, storage, and
distribution of blood and its components. These systems integrate essential functionalities such as donor
management, inventory control, and regulatory compliance, ensuring a streamlined workflow within blood
banks. By incorporating technologies like real-time data analytics, automated inventory tracking, and
electronic health records (EHRs), BBMS enhance accuracy and efficiency in blood transfusion services.
Features such as barcoding and RFID technology further reduce errors and improve the traceability of
blood products from donation to transfusion.
Modern BBMS also improve operational efficiency through automated notifications for inventory levels
and expiry dates, as well as comprehensive reporting tools that support regulatory adherence and strategic
planning. The adoption of cloud-based solutions enables seamless data sharing and coordination across
multiple locations, thereby facilitating better resource management and donor engagement. Overall, BBMS
play a crucial role in strengthening healthcare delivery by ensuring the safety, availability, and optimal use
of blood resources, thereby contributing significantly to public health outcomes.
