    Thì hiện tại đơn (THE PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE)

    I. CÁCH DÙNG (main uses)


    1. Diễn tả những hành động thường xuyên xảy ra, lặp đi lặp lại nhiều lần ở hiện tại (Repeated actions)
    e.g: I go to school by bus every day. She always has milk for breakfast.
    2. Diễn tả thói quen ở hiện tại (Current habits)
    e.g: Tom often goes to bed late at night and gets up late in the next morning.
    3. Diễn tả một chân lí đúng, một sự thật hiển nhiên (General truths)
    e.g: The Earth circles/moves around the Sun. Water boils at 100oC.
    4. Thời gian biểu, lịch trình tàu xe, chương trình tivi,... được lên lịch sẵn
    e.g: The plane takes off at 3 p.m this afternoon. The train leaves at 8 a.m tomorrow morning.
    5. Diễn tả nghề nghiệp
    e.g: My mom is a doctor in a big hospital. My brothers are mechanics.
    6. Diễn tả nguồn gốc xuất xứ e.g: I come from Thai Nguyen city.
    7. Diễn tả lời bình phẩm, đánh giá, nhận xét
    e.g: She is not only (không những) kind but also (mà còn) intelligent.
    8. Diễn tả sở thích e.g: The children love walking in the rain.

    II. CÔNG THỨC


    1. Động từ tobe 2. Động từ thường
    +) S + am/is/are + N/adj. +) S + V(s/es)...
    She is beautiful. He watches TV at 5 am in the morning.
    -) S + am/is/are + not + N/adj. -) S + do/does + not + V(bare).
    Are not = aren’t Do not = don’t
    Is not = isn’t Does not = doesn’t
    She isn’t a good girl. He doesn’t watch TV at 5....
    ?) Am/Is/Are + S + N/adj? ?) Do/Does + S + V(bare)?
    Is it a dog? Does he watch TV at 5 am in the morning?
    Are they your friends?  Yes, S do/does. // No, S don’t/doesn’t.
    Wh-question + Am/Is/Are + S? Wh-question + Do/Does + S + V(bare)?
    How are your friends? What are they? What do you often eat in the morning?
    Where are the chairs? Where do you usually go to play football?

    III. DẤU HIỆU NHẬN BIẾT:


    - Trạng từ chỉ tần suất:
    Always (luôn luôn)
    Usually (thường xuyên), often (thường), frequently, regularly (thường xuyên)
    Sometimes (thỉnh thoảng)
    seldom, rarely, hardly ever (hiếm khi)
    never (không bao giờ)
    - Every day/week/month/summer/year/... (mỗi ngày/ tuần/ tháng/ mùa hè/ năm/...)
    - Once/twice/three times/four times/... a day/week/year/... (một lần/ hai lần/ ba lần/ bốn lần/ ...
    một ngày / tuần/ năm)
    - In my freetime (Trong thời gian rảnh của tôi)
    - At the weekend / On weekends: Vào cuối tuần

    IV. QUY TẮC THÊM S/ES SAU ĐỘNG TỪ:


    1. Thêm “s” vào sau hầu hết các động từ e.g: work => works walk => walks
    2. Thêm “es” vào sau các động từ kết thúc bằng: z, o, ch, x, s, sh
    e.g: watch => watches go => goes wash => washes fix => fixes pass =>
    passeS
    3. Với các động từ kết thúc bằng: “y”:
    - Trước “y” là nguyên âm => để nguyên “y”, thêm “s” e.g: buy => buys play => plays
    - Trước “y” là phụ âm => chuyển “y” thành “i”, thêm “es” e.g: fly => flies cry => cries
