Course Title: Purposive Communication/Malayang Komunikasyon


Course Credits: 54 hours Contact Hours/Week: 18 weeks
Course Description: Purposive Communication covers writing, speaking, and presenting for diverse audiences and goals. This three-unit
course enhances students' communication skills and intercultural awareness through various tasks. These tasks allow
them to communicate effectively within multicultural settings, be it local or global. The course empowers students
to critically assess different texts, highlighting the significance of responsible message conveyance using language
and impactful visuals. The skills and knowledge gained from this course can be applied in academia, chosen fields,
and future careers, enabling students to create relevant oral, written, audio-visual, or web-based content for various
objectives.
Prerequisite: None
Course Learning Outcomes At the end of this course, the students should be able to:
Knowledge
1. Describe verbal and non-verbal communication in various and multicultural contexts.
2. Explain how cultural and global issues affect communication.
3. Determine culturally appropriate terms, expressions, and images.
4. Evaluate multimodal texts critically to enhance receptive (listening, reading, viewing) skills.

1. Convey ideas through oral, audio-visual, and/or web-based presentations for different target audiences in
local and global settings using appropriate registers.
