Grammar
Compound sentences
A sentence that expresses two complete thoughts is a
compound sentence. In a compound sentence, two
independent clauses can be combined to make one
sentence using a comma (,) and the word and, but, or.
Example:
I like coffee. Mary likes tea.
I like coffee, but many likes tea.
NOTICE THAT:
In the compound sentence after the comma and the connecting
word (but), we don’t start the second sentence in a capital letter.

Dialogue is the words said by the characters to each other.
Each character has a special way of speaking. Authors use
dialogue to let the reader know how each character feel.
