STUDENT WILL BW ABLE TO:

1. understand the concept of a food chain,

2.identify different components within a food chain,

3.analyze the interdependence of organisms within

ecosystems.

Pre-Reading :

Activity 1.

1. Brainstorming: Teacher enters in the class and Begin by asking students what they know about
food chains. Write down their responses on the board. Discuss key terms such as producers,
consumers, predators, and prey.

Activity 2.

2.Visual Exploration: Teacher Shows students printed visuals or diagrams of different food chains from
various ecosystems. Encourage them to identify the different organisms involved and discuss how
energy flows through the chain.

Text Reading

In the intricate dance of nature, the food chain weaves a web of dependency and sustenance, a
symphony of life echoing through every ecosystem. At its heart lies a simple yet profound
principle: the transfer of energy from one organism to another. From the sun's radiant embrace,
plants harness vitality through photosynthesis, becoming the lifeblood of the chain. These
producers, in turn, nourish herbivores, the gentle grazers and leaf-munchers, who thrive on
nature's bounty. Yet, their existence fuels the carnivores, the predators lurking in the shadows,
embodying the balance of power and vulnerability. And so, the cycle continues, each link
interwoven, each creature a vital player in the grand tapestry of existence. From the tiny
plankton adrift in the ocean's depths to the majestic predators prowling the savannah, the food
chain binds us all, reminding us of our interconnectedness and our shared dependence on the
delicate balance of life.

Activity 3. True and False. Note write A for True and B for False in the following Table.

1. Plants obtain vitality primarily through animal consumption.

2. Carnivores are depicted as passive and non-influential within the food chain

3. The passage mentions only two types of organisms: producers and herbivores.

4. The passage suggests that every creature within the food chain has an equally important role.

5. The passage specifically mentions the Arctic ecosystem as an example of the food chain.

6. : According to the passage, the balance of life within the food chain is robust and unchanging.

Activity 4.

1. Discussion Session:

 Divide the group into smaller teams and assign each team a role within the food chain
(e.g., producers, herbivores, carnivores). Discuss how each team's role contributes to
the overall balance of the ecosystem.
