Computer forensics, also known as digital forensics, is the branch of forensic science focused on
the recovery, analysis, and preservation of digital evidence. As the world becomes increasingly
reliant on digital technologies, the role of computer forensics has become vital in various domains
such as criminal investigations, corporate security, and civil litigation.
This field encompasses a wide range of activities, including the identification and extraction of
data from electronic devices like computers, smartphones, and storage media. The process
involves meticulous techniques to ensure that digital evidence is collected and preserved in a
manner that maintains its integrity and admissibility in court. Computer forensics specialists use
sophisticated tools to recover deleted, encrypted, or damaged files, track digital footprints, and
reconstruct cybercrime activities.
