Applications are invited for the posts of Assistant Professor, Assistant Director /
Assistant Professor and other Equivalent posts to be filled in the Various
Departments/Schools of Shivaji University, Kolhapur as per the provisions made under
Section 102 of the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016.The prescribed format is
available on Shivaji University’s official website www.unishivaji.ac.in (URLhttps://
www.unishivaji.ac.in/recruitments/At-University).
 Interested candidates should apply online on or before 11/11/2024.
 Last date for submission of six hard copies of application form is 25/11/2024 up to
6.00 p.m. in the University office.
 The List of short listed candidates amongst eligible candidates to be called for
interview and the schedule of interview will be published on University website.
 Name, postal address, E-mail id and mobile number mentioned in the application
form by the candidate will be considered for all kinds of communications.
Therefore, candidate has to mention carefully all these details.

Instructions:
1) A relaxation of 5% shall be allowed at the Bachelor’s as well as at the Master’s
level for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other
Backward Classes (OBC)(Non-creamy Layer)/Differently-abled [(a) Blindness
and low vision; (b) Deaf and Hard of Hearing; (c) Locomotor disability including
cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid-attack victims and muscular
dystrophy; (d) Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and
mental illness; (e) Multiple disabilities from amongst persons under (a) to (d)
including deaf-blindness] for the purpose of eligibility and assessing good
academic record for direct recruitment. The eligibility marks of 55% marks (or an
equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) and the
relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based only
on the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedure.
2) A relaxation of 5% shall be provided, (from 55% to 50% of the marks) to the
Ph.D. Degree holders, who have obtained their Master's Degree prior to
19thSeptember, 1991.
3) A relevant grade which is regarded as equivalent of 55%, wherever the grading
system is followed by a recognized university, at the Master’s level shall also be
considered valid.
4) Candidates belonging to reserved category from outside the State of Maharashtra
will be treated as open category candidates as per State Government G. R. No.
सीबीसी-1084/54577/(1813)/बीसीड यू-5,dated 01/11/1985 and Government circular
No. सीबीसी-1096/ . .341/मावक-5,dated 05/03/1999.
5) Candidate belonging to specific reserved category from the State of Maharashtra
shall be considered for the reserved posts and they are required to submit the
Caste Validity Certificate as per the directives issued by the State Government
vide G.R. No. BCC-2011/iz-Ø-1064@2011@16&c] dated 12/12/2011.
6) The candidates who wish to apply as Sport Person shall have to submit the
verification report of sports related certificates authenticated by the competent
authority/ Deputy Director, Sports and Youth Services OR Token/ Receipt of
application submitted to them along with the application form as per G. R. No.

7) The candidates who wish to apply as Person with Disability shall submit the
certificate of competent authority for minimum ratio of Disability as per G.R. No.
अपंग-1003/ . .127/2003/16-अ,dated 06/05/2004.
8) The Horizontal reservation of Person with Disability will not be applicable for the
post of Coach as per the G.R. No. संकीण-1002/(698/2002)/आ था-1,dated
11/09/2003.
9) All these posts are covered under Grant In-Aid of State Government of
Maharashtra.
10) The candidate who wishes to apply for more than one post / category should
submit separate application for each post / category.
11) Employed candidate shall submit his / her application through proper channel,
failing which the application shall be treated as invalid.

12) The candidate shall submit declaration in prescribed Form – “A” along with the
application form as per rule 4 of having small family as per the directives issued
by the Government of Maharashtra (Notification dated 28th March, 2005). Form -
“A” is available along with the application form.
13) The University reserves the right to fill or not to fill some or all the advertised
posts.
14) The prescribed online application form is available on the University website
www.unishivaji.ac.in under the URL https://www.unishivaji.ac.in/
recruitments/At-University, which has to be filled online and should be printed
on A4 size paper. Six copies of the of the printed application form should be
submitted with the necessary attested documents along with receipt of Online
Payment of Rs.1000/- for open category and Rs.500/- for reserved category
candidates. The application fee is not refundable.
15) The application should be addressed to the Registrar, Shivaji University,
Vidyanagar, Kolhapur - 416 004, so as to reach this office on or before
dt. 25/11/2024 (till 6.00 p.m.). Envelope containing duly filled application form
shall be superscripted with “Name of the Post applied: ________________ and
Post Code ________________.”
16) Applications received after the due date will not be considered. The University
will not be responsible for postal or any other delay, if any.
17) All updates, corrigendum if any, instructions regarding this recruitment will be
updated only on Shivaji University website from time to time. Hence, applicants
are advised to visit University website regularly for further updates. In case of

18) Incomplete application or application on plain paper or xerox copies of prescribed
application form will not be entertained. Application form other than online form
or application form without Receipt of online payment will not be considered for
the process of recruitment.
19) The candidates called for interview should attend the interview at their own cost
along with their original certificates on the scheduled date and time of interview.
The date, time and venue will be displayed on University website separately.
20) Post-retirement benefits will be applicable as per the rules of State Government of
Maharashtra and amendments therein from time to time.
21) General Terms and Conditions regarding service are as per the Maharashtra
Public University Act, 2016, University Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations and
Rules made their under and those made applicable from time to time as well as
per the UGC Norms & Govt. of Maharashtra Resolution No. Misc-
2018/C.R.56/18/UNI-1, dated 08.03.2019 and Corrigendum dated 10.05.2019 of
Higher and Technical Education Department, Govt. of Maharashtra, Mantralaya,
Mumbai.
22) The Academic Score as specified in Appendix II (Table 3A) for the posts of
Assistant Professor in Universities shall be considered only for short-listing the
candidates for interview and the selection shall be based only on the performance
at interview as per Government Resolution ref. no. Misc-2018/C.R.56/18/UNI-1,
dated 8th March, 2019. Number of candidates to be called for interview shall be
decided by the University.

23) The criteria for the short-listing of candidates and number of candidates to be
called for interview for the post of Coach and Project Officer shall be decided by
the University.
24) The last date for fulfilling the required qualification and experience will be the
last date of online application.

 PAY SCALE: The pay scale for Assistant Professor, Assistant Director/
Assistant Professor, Coach and Project Officer (equivalent to
Assistant Professor) is same as mentioned below -

Academic level-10 Entry Pay 57,700/- in the pay matrix


57,700- 1,82,400/- (as per Higher and Technical Education
department G. R. No. Misc-2018/C.R. 56/18/UNI-1, dated
08.03.2019).
 QUALIFICATIONS:
I) Qualifications for Assistant Professor (Excluding post having post code
24/24-18 for Music and Dramatics), Assistant Director/Assistant Professor
are as mentioned below.
A.
1) A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale
wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject
from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign
university.
2) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the
National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar
test accredited by the UGC, like SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph. D.
Degree in a concerned/relevant/allied subject in accordance with the University
Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.
Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time
to time as the case may be exempted from NET/SET :
Provided the candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July
11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances /
Bye-laws / Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and such Ph.D.
candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/ SET for recruitment
and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in
Universities/Colleges/Institutions subject to the fulfilment of the following
conditions:
a) The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in regular mode only;
b) The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two examiners;
c) An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;
d) The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work,
out of which at least one is in a refereed journal; and
e) The candidate has presented at least two papers, based on his/her Ph.D.
work in conferences/seminars, sponsored/funded/supported by the
UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or any similar agency.
The fulfilment of these conditions (a) to (e) is to be certified by the
Registrar or the Dean (Academic affairs) of the Ph. D. degree awarding
University/Institute.

Note:
NET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines
for which NET/SET is not conducted. However, Ph.D. degree shall remain the
minimum eligibility for appointment of Assistant Professor in such disciplines.
OR
B.
The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a
ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one
of the following:
(i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS);
(ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) or
(iii) the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao
Tong University (Shanghai).
II) Qualifications for Assistant Professor for Post Code 24/24-18 for Music and
Dramatics Department are as mentioned below.
A.
1) A Master‘s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale
wherever the grading system is followed) in the relevant subject or an equivalent
degree from an Indian/foreign University.
2) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the
National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or a similar test
accredited by the UGC, like SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph. D.
Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum
Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil. /Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009
or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be.
Provided further, candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July 11,
2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances / Bye-
laws /Regulations of the Institutions awarding the degree and such Ph.D.
candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/ SET for recruitment
and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in
Universities/Colleges /Institutions subject to the fulfilment of the following
conditions:
a) The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in regular mode only;
b) The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two examiners;
c) An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;
d) The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work,
out of which at least one is in a refereed journal; and
e) The candidate has presented at least two papers, based on his/her Ph.D.
work in conferences/seminars, sponsored/funded/supported by the
UGC/AICTE /ICSSR or any similar agency.
The fulfilment of these conditions (a) to (e) is to be certified by the Registrar
or the Dean (Academic affairs) of the Ph. D. degree awarding University/Institute.
Note:
NET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines
for which NET/SET is not conducted. However, Ph.D. degree shall remain the
minimum eligibility for appointment of Assistant Professor in such disciplines.

OR
B.
A traditional or a professional artist with highly commendable professional
achievement in the subject concerned having a Bachelor’s degree, who has:
i. Studied under a noted/reputed traditional Master(s)/Artist(s);
ii. Has been ‘A‘ grade artist of AIR/Doordarshan;
iii. Has the ability to explain, with logical reasoning the subject concerned; and
iv. Has adequate knowledge to teach theory with illustrations in the discipline
concerned.

III) Qualifications for Coach are equivalent to the qualifications for the post of
University Assistant Director of Physical Education which are as mentioned
below.
A.
1) A Master‘s degree in Physical Education and Sports or Physical Education or
Sports Science with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever
the grading system is followed).
2) Record having represented the University/ College at the inter-university/inter
collegiate competitions or the State and /or National championships.
3) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the
National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or a similar test
accredited by the UGC, like SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph. D.
Degree in Sports/Physical Education in accordance with the University Grants
Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil. /Ph.D.
Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the
case may be.
Provided that, the candidates registered for the Ph.D. degree prior to July 11,
2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances / Bye-
laws / Regulations of the Institutions awarding the degree and such Ph.D.
candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/ SET for recruitment
and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities
/Colleges/Institutions subject to the fulfilment of the following conditions:

Note:
1) NET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in
disciplines for which NET/SET is not conducted. However, Ph.D. degree
shall remain the minimum eligibility for the appointment in such disciplines.
2) Passed the physical fitness test conducted in accordance with these Rules.

OR
B.
An Asian game or commonwealth games medal winner who has a degree at least
at Post- Graduation level.

IV) Qualifications for the post of Project Officer are as mentioned below.
i. A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale
wherever the grading system is followed) in Adult/ Continuing Community/
Lifelong Learning/ Extension Education/Community Development/ Social
Sciences/ Social Work/Humanities /Education/ Science/ Home Science subject
from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign
university.
ii. Ph.D. in a subject related to adult learning or in a subject under social science or
Education/Evidence of published learning materials and learning resources on
areas listed in (i) above or published research in any of the relevant area/areas
indicated above.
iii. An experience of field work/teaching or research in a subject having bearing on
Adult/Continuing Extension/ Lifelong Learning/ Community/ Non formal
Education or Community Development.
