(1) Find the volume of the solid generated by revolving the region bounded by the cuuve

y = x and the lines y = 2 and x = 0 about
(a) the x-axis. (b) the y-axis. (c) the line y = 2. (d) the line x = 4.
(2) The arch y = sin x, 0 ≤ x ≤ π, is revolved about the line y = c, 0 ≤ c ≤ 1, to generate
a solid.
(a) Find the value of c that minimizes the volume of the solid. What is the minimum
volume?
(b) What value of c in [0, 1] maximizes the volume of the solid?
(3) Find the length of one arch of the cycloid x(t) = 2(t − sin t), y = 2(1 − cos t) for
0 ≤ t ≤ 2π.
(4) Find the areas of the surfaces by revolving the curves about indicated axes:

(a) y = 1 + x, 1 ≤ x ≤ 5; x-axis. (b) y = (3x)1/3 , 0 ≤ x ≤ 1/3; y-axis.
(5) Sketch the region of integration and evaluate the integral:

(12) Express the area of the region bounded by the curves y = ln x, y = 2 ln x and the line
x = e in the first quadrant and then find the area.
(13) Determine which one is the larger: the average value of xy over the rectangle 0 ≤ x ≤ 1,
0 ≤ y ≤ 1 and the average value of xy over the quarter disc x2 + y 2 ≤ 1 in the first
quadrant?
(14) Use Polar co-ordinates to evaluate the √ integrals:
