C. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing

New Skills#1

Do you have an idea about the folktale of “The

Old Man and His Sons?
(The teacher read the story)
So, I’m going to read the story.

“The Old Man and His Sons”:

Once upon a time, there lived an old man who had

many sons. However, these sons were constantly
quarreling with each other. As the old man grew
weaker with age, he became worried that their
constant fighting would lead to their ruin. He
decided to teach them a valuable lesson about
unity.
One day, he called all his sons together and
handed them a thick bundle of sticks that were
tightly tied together. He said, “My sons, I want
each of you to try and break this bundle.”
The sons, one by one, tried with all their strength
to break the bundle, but they were unable to do so.
Frustrated, they admitted, “Sorry, father! We
cannot break this bundle, no matter how hard we
try!”
The old man then untied the rope that bound the
sticks together. He handed each son a single stick
and said, “Now, my sons, take one stick each and
break it.”
To their surprise, the single stick broke easily.
Confused, they asked their father, “What does this
mean?”
The old man explained, “Just like these sticks, if
you stay together as one, bound by brotherly love,
nobody will be able to break you. There are many
people in this world who will take advantage of
you when you are alone, just like this single stick.
But if you remain united, you can face any
danger.”
And so, the sons learned a valuable lesson about
the strength that comes from unity. They realized
the importance of standing together and supporting
one another.
Did you enjoy it? Yes, Teacher.

So again class, how many sons did the man have?
