The tilt of the earth and revolution of the earth around the sun cause different
amounts of light to fall in different portions of the earth in different angles. 

Answers may vary. The North Pole tilts towards the sun  in the summer and
away from the sun in winter.  The North Pole does not tilt towards or away
from the sun  in the autumn or spring. 

The earth revolves counter-clockwise if looked at from a perspective above
the North Pole.

2. Meteosat and Landsat are satellites that give South Africa a great deal of useful
information.

Meteorologist is the study of the atmosphere and the atmosphere is thus the
focus of Meteosat’s images. As its name implies, Landsat concentrates on
gathering data from the land surface of the Earth.

The following information about these two satellites has been scrambled. Identify
which statement is relevant to which satellite. Put an X in the column to which the
statement refers.

This is a satellite image of Gleebruk, a village located on the coast of the island of Sundra
in Indonesia, taken on the 12 April 2004
Satellite images are used by governments agencies to examine the destruction caused by
natural disasters, such as tsunami that hit Indonesia on 26 December 2004

This ia a satelite immage of the same area takn in 2 January 2005, seven days after the tsunami
hit Indonesia. The destruction the tsunami caused is clearly evident on this satelite
image,building ,trees, roads , bridges and beaches were swept away by the force of the wave
