1. Has contact been established, communication channels agreed and the ETA provided to the shore base /
charterer / port control / port authorities as applicable?

2. Is the following information available from / agreed with the Port Control / Authorities?
Inbound / outbound traffic routeing in the fairways / channels
Arrangements for the Pilot / Pilot ladder (if applicable)
Whether the vessel is to proceed to the berth or to anchor
Location of the berth and which side to / location of the anchor position

3. Have the following factors for the area been taken into consideration?
Available port information
Latest weather reports
Latest navigational reports and information
Tide and current information for the port and adjacent areas
Calculated minimum depths of water in port approaches, channels and at the berth

4. Has notice of any information required by local regulations been provided as applicable? (E.g. details of
hazardous goods carried etc.)

5. Are the relevant charts and nautical publications corrected to date and applicable courses marked out?

6. Are the watch arrangements made / arrival notification given to the crew?

7. Has the following equipment been checked, tested and found in correct working order?
Engine, thruster and propulsion controls (including pitch & revolution indicators) checked
Internal communication with Engine Control Room established and tested
Communications with deck and manoeuvre stations established and tested
Manual steering, emergency change over systems and rudder indicators tested
Windlass, capstans, winches and gangway crane ready for use
Deck lighting (in hours of darkness / reduced visibility)

8. If applicable, is the azimuth thruster retracted and stowed?

9. Are the anchors ready for use and arrangement in place for securing them once at the berth?

10. Is all required mooring equipment prepared?

11. Has the PFSO been contacted and security procedures agreed?

Upon completion of the above checks, an entry shall be made in the Bridge Log-book stating “Pre-Arrival Checklist
Completed”, followed by any relevant comments or other information as may be required.
The completed Checklist shall be retained until next arrival.
