4. Six years ago a mother was 29times as old as her daughter. 10years from now mother will be 28yeras
older then the daughter. Determine the age of the mother when the daughter was 6years 3marks

5. A polygon has three exterior angles measuring 60 each and the rest of interior angles measures
120.Find the number of sides of the polygon and hence state if it’s a regular polygon. 3marks

11.A Japanese travelling from Francis arrives in Kenya and converts his euros into Kenyan shillings

12.A cuboid mearing 80cm,60cm and 40cm,is to be packed with cylindrical tins with height of 20cm and
a radius of 5cm leaving a negligible spacing. Find the number of tins that will fit in the tins without a
remainder. 3marks

13. Town B is due east of town A on a distance of 50km,while town C is on a true bearing of 160° from
A and on a compass bearing of 𝑆40°𝑊 from B, find the shortest distance from C to AB. 4marks

14. A group of women agreed to contribute sh 240000 for a project. In the process 10 women withdrew
their membership leadi by sh 5000. The remaining women contributed sh 900 each from the original
agreed amount. Find the number of women who finally contributed for the project. 3marks

15.A boy 1.5m tall looks on top of a building at an angle of 42.5°.When he moves 5m towards the foot of
the buiding he observes the building at an angle of 50.8. °Calculate to 2dp the height of the building.

17. A rocket capsule consists of a hemispherical bottom, a middle cylindrical part of 8cm and a conical
top. Its total height is 15cm. The radius of the base of the cone and that of the hemisphere are each 3cm

a).Calculate the external surface area of the model. 4marks

b) The actual rocket has a total height of6𝑚𝑒𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑠. The outside of the actual capsule is to be painted.
Calculate the amount of paint required if an area of 20𝑐𝑚2 𝑟𝑒𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑟𝑒𝑠 0.75𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑠 of paint 6marks

18.a) Line L1 passes through point 𝐴 (4, −2) 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐵(3,2).A point Q is a perpendicular bisector of line

22. a.) A bus left town A towards B at a speed of 80𝑘𝑚/ℎ𝑟 𝑎𝑡 8: 00𝑎𝑚 a distance of 840𝑘𝑚 apart, at
9: 55𝑎𝑚 a car left A towards B with an average speed of 100km/hr., at the same time the bus had stopped
for 10minutes then proceeded. After the car overtook the bus, the car stopped for 30𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑡𝑒𝑠 for engine
cooling, At what speed should the car travel with to arrive at B with the bus at the same time. 5marks

b. The figure below shows a sketch of 𝑉𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑐𝑖𝑡𝑦 − 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒 𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑝ℎ of a body moving from 0 𝑠𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑠 to

b. Given that the acceleration for the first part of the journey is 15𝑚/𝑠 2 ,after which the body moved
with a constant velocity then accelerated to attain maximum velocity of 80m/s with an acceleration of
20𝑚/𝑠 2 .Calculate the time taken to cover half the journey if the final velocity was 70m/s. 5marks
