g of CO2 and 1.388 g of H2O. Write a balanced chemical equation for the combustion of
estrone. (10 marks)

Hydrogen sulphide, H 2S reacts with excess oxygen to produce sulphur dioxide, SO 2 and water.

a. Write the balanced equation for the above reaction.

b. Calculate the number of moles of H 2S required to form 8.20 mol of SO 2.

c. Calculate the volume of oxygen consumed if 1.00 mol of H 2S was reacted at STP.

d. Calculate the percentage yield if 12.0 g SO 2 was produced from the reaction of 7.98 g of H 2S.

(a) The reaction between N 2 and O2 at 250C is represented by the following equation:

If the partial pressures of N 2 and O2 at equilibrium are 0.75 atm and 0.24 atm
respectively, calculate the partial pressure of NO under this condition.
(b) The equilibrium constant, Kc, for the decomposition of COF 2 is 4.98 at 25 0C. The
equation of the reaction is given as follows:

2COF2(g) ⇌ CF4(g) + CO2(g)


The initial concentrations of COF2 is 0.17 mol L-1, calculate the concentration of CF4 and
CO2 at equilibrium? (10 marks)
