1. Greetings

Good morning, CSTCians!

I am CSTCian, good morning, Sir!

Now, let's use tools to express your

emotions. Please select a screwdriver to
indicate happiness or pliers to indicate
sadness.
(The students selected tools to present
to the class in order to convey their
feelings.)
It seems that everyone is happy, great.
2. Opening Prayer

Before anything else, let us seek the

guidance from our Almighty God.
John, will you please lead the opening
Prayer.
Yes, Sir.

Let's bow our heads and feel the

presence of our Lord.

Father God.
As we start this new day for new
learning, we ask for your guidance
lead vs all the way.

May you let us see through your eyes,

listen through your cars, and speak
with your mouth.

Amen.
Amen.

3. Classroom management
Before you take your seats, please pick
up the trash on the floor and arrange
your chair properly.

Class, these are the classroom rules that

I already discussed last meeting, this is
for visual.

L – lower your voice.

I – increase your attention.
S – search your goal.
T – tease your mind.
E – engaged in class.
N – never leave your notebook blank.

4. Checking of attendance
Class monitor, please kindly report the
attendance for today.
No one absent for today, Sir.
Very good! keep it up class.

Are you ready class!

We always ready, Sir!
5. Review
Now let us have a recap of our lesson
last meeting.

What did we discuss last meeting?

Yes, Alia?
Sir, last meeting we discussed
raceway.
Very good, Alia! Can you remember the
definition of raceway?
Sir, raceway protect conductor wires.

Excellent, Alia! raceway is an enclosed

conduit that forms as physical pathway.

Kindly give me an example of raceway?

Yes, Justin?
Sir, non-metallic flexible hose and
PVC.
Good! What else?
Rigid metallic conduit or also known
as RMC.
Wow that’s wonderful to hear every one
of you truly learned from our previous
meeting's conversation.

6. Motivation
Title: HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT
“FIND ME”
Before diving into our next topic
Allow me to introduce our first activity
entitled FIND ME.

Instruction: Observe, find different

materials and tools that needs in
bending PVC, write on ¼ sheet of paper
at least 3 materials and the uses. This is
equivalent to 5 points for your
recitation.

Be ready, I will be calling 2 students to

share what they find.
Is everything clear class?

Yes, sir!

Rica, what materials did you find?

Sir, heat gun, gloves tape measure.
Very good! What are the purposes of
the materials you discover?
Sir, the purpose of a heat gun is to
generate heat in order to bend PVC.
Gloves are necessary to prevent any
burns to our hands and to obtain
precise measurements using a tape
measure.
Very good! What else?
Sir, my materials I saw are PVC, wet
rug and marker.
Good observation, so what is the uses?
Sir, the primary purpose of PVC
conduits is to offer protection. A wet
rug helps to cooling the PVC, and a
marker serves as a guide for ensuring
the correct cut.

Good to hear that you already know the

material and equipment in bending
PVC.

B. Development Phase
1. Activity (5 minutes)
Title: PERMITTED PLACE
Before we proceed to our next topic, let
us have another activity.

Instruction: You will be divided into

three groups and each group will be
given cutout word each that examine the
location and determine if the location is
permitted or not permitted in installation
of PVC. You have 5 minutes to finish
the activity and after that you will
posting your work to the front.

Alright, class though out the lesson,

let’s analyse your work to see if it’s
correct or not, and if the picture is
wrong where you placed, you will be
given a chance to correct the position at
the end of the discussion.

So, you need to pay attention class, do

you understand?
Yes, Sir.
2. Analysis (25 minutes)

(The teacher will present the learning

objectives.)

Class to clearly understand our lesson

for today here are the learning
objectives.

Everyone please read.

Class, this is the roadmap to guide us

throughout the lesson today.

First let us define, what is PVC and

what PVC stand for?
Sir, PVC stands for polyvinyl
chloride; it's a type of conduit used for
protecting wiring.
Exactly, Yen! PVC or also known as
polyvinyl chloride is a type of plastic
pipe used to protect electrical wiring.
It's durable, lightweight, and good
insulation.

So, again what is PVC?

Sir, polyvinyl chloride used to protect
electrical wiring.
Very good, Dancel! Now you are
already knowing the PVC, let us
proceed to the limitation or the used
permitted and not permitted.

Class, when we say concealed means

hidden though concreate. Usually where
the pvc located?
Sir, commonly located in wall, floors
and callings.
Exactly! Let us proceed to the next use
permitted which is corrosion influences.
When we say corrosion what is this
class?
Sir, rusting because of water.
Precisely, Yen! Corrosion courses by
water, salt and other. PVC materials
immune to corrosion compare to the
metallic conduit.

Please read and give your insight.

Sir, PVC permitted to use in gravel or
coal.
Yes! That’s correct PVC is permitted in
underground application together with
gravel.

Class let us have a recap before we

proceed to the next permitted used, what
are the first 3 permitted used that
already discussed.
Sir, concealed, curation influence and
cinder fill.

Very good, Bea!

Sir, because of the materials used in

PVC which is plastic or more specific
vinyl it has a good insulation
protecting wires from water.
Exactly!
Sir, PVC can protect wires from sun
or dry location.
I agree! PVC made from vinyl and can
able to immune to the sun or damp
location.

Sir, like in dry location PVC can able

to use in outdoor.
Exactly, Yen! When you notice some
household used PVC not concealed into
concreate but in able to protect wires.

Let us have a recap!

Sir, concealed,
curation influence
cinder fill
wet location
Dry and damp location
And exposed
Very good, Alia! And for the last one
permitted location.

Sir, PVC can be used ether direct to

the soil or in concreate.
Very good, Rain! Who can sum up the
uses of PVC in permitted.
Sir there are 7 permitted used of PVC
which are:
Concealed
curation influence
cinder fill
wet location
Dry and damp location
Exposed
And underground.
Precisely! Now you already know the
permitted how about to the not
permitted location.

PVC not permitted to use class in any

hazardous location, so how you can
identify if the location is hazardous?
Sir, for me I can tell the place
hazardous if there are chemicals or
flammable.
Exactly! Remember class that PVC is
made from plastic that possible to burn.

Class, for your perspective why PVC

should not use to support luminaires?
Sir, because PVC is made from
plastic.
Good! PVC is not typically strong
enough to bear the weight of heavy
fixtures
Class, the limit temperature of PVC is
50 degrees Celsius.
Let us have a recap what are uses not
permitted for PVC?
Sir, hazardous location, supporting
luminaires and ambient temperature.
Very good!

And now class, I give you a chance to

correct your works.
Group 1

Group 2

Group 3
Now Maximum Number of
Conductors or Fixture Wires in
Rigid PVC Conduit, Schedule 8
(Based on the Philippine Electrical
Code Part 1, 2017 Edition)
Commonly used conductors for
residential houses and commercial
buildings

Class, pay attention to the type of

conductor that is located in the first
column. What types of wires are there?
Sir, TW, THHN and THW.
Very good, now look to the second
colum that’s indicate the size of wires in
AWG or American Wire Gauge.

Again first colum is for?

Types of wires, Sir!
How about the second colum?
About the size of wire in AWG.
Very good! Now look to the upper
colum you can see the trade size that
indicate the size of PVC.

And the last one is conductors, that’s

indicate the number of wires that able to
put based on the size of PVC.

Let us have a example.

What size of wires that we have?

Sir, 14 AWG.
Very good, how about the size of PVC
that we have?
Sir, we have ½
So, how many wires can able to put in
our PVC?
Sir, if we have 14 AWG and ½ size of
PVC, the number of wires that able to
put is 6.
Great! What would happen if we had
THHN with an 8 AWG size, but the
PVC is remain. How many wires can
we put?
Hmmm. Based on the table the wires
that able to put are 2 wires.
Exactly! Now our size of PVC is ¾ and
the size and brand of wires is remain the
same. How mny wires can able to put?
Sir, you can insert four wires into
PVC.
Good to hear that you are learn the
maxium number of conductors in PVC.

Maximum Number of
Conductors or Fixture Wires in
Rigid PVC Conduit, Schedule
40 and HDPE Conduit

Class, based on your perspective what is

the different of schedule 40 and 80?
Sir, about the size of wires.
Thank you for your nice idea, but the
different of schedule 40 and 80 is
thickness of the PVC hole of schedule
40 is thinner compared to 80.

Class, the table we discussed is standard

that based to?
Sir, PEC or Philippines Electrical
Code.
Very good What is the main purpose of
PEC?
Sir, for establish safety standards for
electrical installations.
Exactly! Do you understand the
maximum number of conductors?
We understood, Sir!

Class, let us proceed to the material and

equipment needed in bending PVC.

kindly, list down to the board the

materials needed in bending PVC.

Alright, that’s good to know that you

are already know the materials needed
in PVC bending.
Class let us proceed to the last part of
our lesson which is the types of bending
But for today we will focus to 45 degree
bend with offset.

Now I will demonstrate how to bend 40

degrees.
( The teacher will demonstrate the step
by step of 45 degree bend.)

3. Abstraction (5 minutes)
Alright, for our sum up, kindly give
permitted uses of PVC.
Sir, there are 7 permitted used of PVC
which are:
Concealed
curation influence
cinder fill
wet location
Dry and damp location
Exposed
And underground.
Very good! How about to the not
permitted?
Sir, hazardous location, supporting
luminaires and ambient temperature.
Exactly! What is the main purpose of
PVC?
Sir, serve as a pathway in order to
have a protection of wires.
How do you think the important of PVC
in electrical installation?
Sir, for me PVC helps ensure safer,
more reliable, and cost-effective
electrical installations.
Do you have experience for using PVC?
I remember, sir, when I was a helper,
PVC helped us ensure that our work
was safe and organized.
Excellent! Let us give a round of
applause to your participation and I
hope you learned a lot and apply to the
work as an electrical dreamer.

4. Application

You will produce 40 degree bend.

You will need to demonstrate:

Correct measurement of the PVC

conduit length.

Marking the exact points where

bends are required.

Using a heat gun (or manual

bender) to bend the conduit to the
required angles.

Ensuring that the bends meet the

specified angles and fit the layout
provided in the installation plan.

Standards/Criteria:
Accuracy of Bends (30 points):
 30-26 points: Bends are
precise, smooth, and meet
the exact angles specified in
the installation plan (e.g.,
90°, 45°). The conduit fits
perfectly into the designated
space.

 25-16 points: Bends are

mostly accurate, with minor
deviations that do not
significantly impact the fit of
the conduit.

 15-0 points: Bends are

incorrect, with noticeable
mistakes in angle or
curvature, causing issues
with fitting in the space.

Safety (20 points):

 20-18 points: Demonstrates
excellent safety practices,
including proper use of PPE
(gloves, goggles) and careful
handling of the heat gun or
bender. No safety violations.

 17-11 points: Follows most

safety guidelines but with
minor lapses (e.g., brief
moment without goggles).

 10-0 points: Fails to follow

important safety procedures,
putting oneself or others at
risk.
