DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND MANAGEMENT CONCEPTS

Instruction: critically analyze the following questions and each answer each
comprehensively.

1. What DRR activities can take place in school?

 The activities such as Disaster Risk Reduction Drill and the First Aid
Training. These training are very important to learn by the students
in case of emergencies. These activities are a stepping stone for
student to be aware of what to do and prepared in case of disaster.

2. What needs to be done to support these activities?

 To support these activities, everyone in the school must cooperate.


Not only the students must participate, but these activities also
need to be facilitated by the teachers and faculty. Cooperation from
the organizations, government, and community are needed.
Everyone must unite and cooperate in order for these activities to
be successful.

3. Who needs to support this process?

 These activities must be supported by the local government,


principal, teachers and staff, the parents, the students, and the
people who are related to these activities such as the NDRRMC and
the Red Cross, since they are the one who is responsible with these
activities. Since these people’s supports are the ones who will make
these activities work successfully and effectively.

4. How will the communities be involved?

 First the community were involved in these activities, since these


activities also needed their support in order to work properly.
Second, they are one of the beneficiaries of these activities, since
supporting these activities in school means developing an individual
who are more knowledgeable in terms of disasters and aware on
what to do before, during, and after a disaster strikes.

YOUTH AND DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

Write down your 10 ideas/insights below as to how the youth can actively
engage in disaster preparedness initiatives. Please consider the many forms of
disasters. Be specific as possible.

1. By making an advocacy about the certain cause of a disaster, causes


such as illegal logging, illegal bombing, proper waste disposal, etc. to
spread awareness

2. By engaging in activities such as tree and mangrove planting, clean-up


drive.

3. Participating in fund raising that collecting funds for disaster


preparation, and will be used in case a disaster occur, funds that will be
used in relief goods and reconstruction.

4. Student participates in Red Cross training in order to be aware how to


treat injuries if a disaster occurs.

5. Participating in organizing disaster drills in the community, and


practicing how to respond to earthquakes, floods, or fires helps
everyone know what to do in real emergencies.

6. Help in mapping local places, such as shelters, first aid stations, or


emergency contacts, and share it with the community in order for
everyone to be aware on where to go before, during, and after the
disaster.

7. Writing an advocate addressing the affects of any forms of disasters


and posting it in different platforms like Facebook or TikTok to share
tips on disaster preparedness and avoid large casualties.

8. Student can establish support groups for those affected by disasters.


This can serve as a place for healing and sharing information about
recovery resources.

9. Collaborate with teachers and staffs in supporting activities that help in


preparing for disasters, and work in spreading disaster preparedness
into the school curriculum. This could be through science projects,
essays, or presentations.
10.Be a role model for the younger ones, socialize with younger students
and teach them about disaster preparedness being a role model can
inspire the next generation to be safety-conscious.
